It also covers topics that deal with the brain, heart, digestive, reproductive glands, lungs, bones and joints. Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen have managed to make learning these topics both entertaining and enjoyable by including illustrations of pathogenic creatures whose role it is to portray illnesses that harm the body. There are also illustrations of benevolent elf creatures whose role it is to guide readers through different parts of the body in terms of names and functionalities. The authors have also incorporated a sense of humor, trivia, and a diet plan. In terms of humor, we have analogies between the activities of muscle cells when engulfing deceased heart tissue and the fighting that regularly presents itself on daily talk shows. In terms of trivia, the authors discuss the frequency at which one should have one's thyroid level checked. They reveal the quantity of air biscuit floatation produced by an average human per day. They also expose information regarding the quantity of times that most persons engage in intercourse. Finally, the authors invite their readers to try a 10-day, 30-recipe diet plan designed to benefit certain systems of the body such as that of immunity. 4 stars (Helpful Handbook) - This book is helpful, especially for middle school aged children who are learning the proper techniques of writing. It is easy to use. 5 stars (Outstanding Resource: Simple, Organized, Invaluable!!) - It has been proven time and time again the necessity of well-spoken and well-written language. Industry professionals, chief executive officers, and medical students use a different language than rap musicians and drug dealers. Those with the few minutes required to easily reference this book while writing will far exceed the minimalist expectations of modern education and, no doubt, far exceed the annual income level of their post graduate classmates. Neither race nor economic class is as great a social divide as language abuse and misuse. Not only has this book remained in print for quite some time, but it is one of the few books from high school I refuse to discard. Reading this book from cover to cover, although personally encouraged, is not absolutely necessary. Organized more akin to a dictionary, this guide is ridiculously simple to navigate within its many tips and tricks. Although I held a great jealously towards my senior-year, male English teacher who managed to steal the attention of the few young women in our class through the rhyme and reason of old poetry, he did our class a great justice through the forced purchase of this book. The difficult choices you make in life determine your overall success or failure; ask, what literature will survive the test of time: Shakespeare or your last AOL Instant Messenger conversation? 4 stars (essential guide) - I was introduced to this book in high school where we were required to have a copy and use it throughout all four years of English classes. The Money Book for the Young- Fabulous - Broke

5 stars (Excellent Book!) - Have briefly watched Suze Orman's TV show several times, and couldn't stand it. This book, however, is outstanding. She has compiled a wealth of information (including various important government loan program details) for those just starting out after college. I wish it had been available for me just after I graduated! Topics included are an explanation of one's FICO score and what to do about it, strategies upon beginning a job, buying a car, buying a home, retirement funds, and handling student loan repayments. I think the only thing Suze missed was how to get the MOST reliable new or used car - look in Consumer Reports. (She did, however, encourage getting a used car certified by the manufacturer - excellent advice.) Am so impressed I'm going to find one of her other books that targets people in my life-stage 5 stars (A must have for the Young, Fabulous, and Broke) - Suze Orman is spectacular. She doesn't sugarcoat things and she puts it all out there for us young folk. She covers all the topics that affect those fresh out of college. Everything from handling student loan and credit card debt to buying your first house and handling investments. And the online tools that you get access to when you purchase the book are great help as well. there's even a message board where you can get real feedback from Suze and her assistants. This is definitely a must read for all young people! 2 stars (Good advice, I guess....) - Suze Ormon's advice is important to pay attention to, but in my opinion it's possible to get elswhere in a better package. If you like Suze's presentation, fine, but she just seems overly chirpy to me. 1 stars (Horrible. Just horrible.) - I have no clue why my high school depends so much on these books. I show these textbooks to my family members (who happen to be from Costa Rica, Venezuela, and Spain) and we all just laughed at the sheer lunacy of these textbooks. We'd learn more Spanish in "America: The Book" than from the Holt books. The translations, dialogue, reviews, and examples were all trivial and laughably disorganized. How do they expect students to learn Spanish when 60% of the text is in English? There are much more efficient and easier ways to learn Spanish, the easiest language on Earth, than from an arbitrary slop of Holt publishing. I recommend Rosetta Stone, instead. 2 stars (A decent Spanish textbook for average-slow paced learners.) - In my school they used this book for Spanish I. I found that although it was adequate, it went at a pretty slow pace. Throughout the entire book, as far as verbs go, it only teaches the present active verb conjugations, the simple concept of being going to do something, and at the very end, the present progressive, which translates to I am running (etc.). One of the better parts of the book was the vocabulary. There were a good amount of nouns (although not as many verbs), and they were grouped somewhat coherently. 4 stars (I like this textbook series) - We used the Ven Conmigo series in my highschool Spanish I & II classes, and I found the textbooks very helpful. I guess the textbooks don't lay out every detail step by step--students need to take a certain amount of initiative for the learning process (like reviewing vocabulary on thier own time, participating in group work, and so on). These might not be the most appropriate textbooks for independent study though since a lot of the material is based on group activities, in class listening and videos, etc. Also, the guidance of a teacher (preferably a good one) goes a long way when attempting to create an excellent or great learning experience while usin...

5 stars (Just what you are looking for...) - This book handles all the issues about sexual purity for every young man. Great. 3 stars (It makes me mad how this book portrayes the girls like they are victims.) - Are they victims? One of the girls says, "I was so wanting to wait for my wedding night, but I also wanted to make him happy, so I let it go too far." So its all his fault? He was wrong for pressuring her but she is wrong for letting it happen. She said he herself. "...but I also wanted to make him happy." Forget about his happiness. She said she wanted to wait for her wedding night. So she should have. So stop acting like its all the guys fault. Another girl stated that she really like this guy and he tried some things that made her uncomfortable. She said she asked him to stop but he persisted. "Finally he just wore me down and I eventually gave in. He had weakend my defenses." What! Ok, again. Guys should stop pressuring these girls like this. But it makes me mad that she settled for that. Oh woe is her. For goodness sake stand up and tell the guy no, and if he tries anything again. He's out of here. 4 stars (So far, so good) - I'm 26 years old and for the past 5 years, I have compromised myself for the sake of being in a relationship. I have decided that I do not want to do this anymore and recently began searching for reading material to help me (along with my Bible of course). Yesterday, when I saw this book, I felt compelled to buy it. I'm on page 43...and so far, so good. I must admit that it's made me blush a few times because the writings are so frank, but I appreciate Mrs. Ethridge's honesty especially since my parents we unable to counsel me in this manner. I would recommend that parents read it along with their children so that they can answer the many questions that will be asked...and of course, the many times that blushing will happen. Happy reading :o) 3 stars (This book was good.) - I read this book and I thought It was a good read. was actually kind of glad that it was so bold because a lot of people sugar coat words when we here them everyday in movies...etc. It was real and it addressed a lot of issues. it helps to only a certain extent though. I like the fact that it highlighted on the fact that sexual integrity is a four componenet collective. It deals with the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects as a whole to be completley pure. It showed that It was not just sexual abstinence but self control, thought control, and God's expectations. I couldn't totally relate to the book only because the guys that I go out with are truely living their lives as disciples of christ and have God on their mind. My mentality is that if this guy at school, or work..etc can't lead me spiritually and help me get to heaven, then he is not someone I will date. which rules out every guy except the ones at church. we double date and do things that glorify god and in the book she kind of pinned every guy as a sex addict or something and there are no christian guys trying to be sexually pure. 3 stars (An Underutilized Course Of Therapy) - Weiss' study of reincarnation as revealed by hypnotized patients is interesting but mildly superficial. It left me with many more questions than it ever attempted to answer. I also noted an instance or two when the historical settings Weiss' patients were describing did not sound historically accurate for what was actually going on in the time and place in question. (i.e. a suit of rough fur clothing in 1400's Holland?) In a few case histories, the lifetimes of a single subject overlapped. I know there are theories of parallel lives/parallel universes, but just pointing out that this did come up on occasion or two. Whether a patient hypnotically "regressed" is giving details of a valid previous incarnation or experiencing a fantasy, there is enough evidence that has been accumulated over the years to suggest regressive hypnotherapy is an effective means of healing for some people. Perhaps the spiritual aspects of "do we live numerous earthly lifetimes" should be set aside and more emphasis placed on employing regression as a method of psychological treatment. Professionals such as Weiss should be at the vanguard of a potential health-improvement tool that has been squandered for too long among New Age gurus who would keep it shrouded in pseudo-spirituality and make use of it primarily as a parlor trick. On the other hand, does understanding the root of a fear or other issue truly guarantee healing? No. I have a friend who is terrified of dogs because she was badly bitten by a German Shepherd when she was five. Does the fact she knows what caused her fear erase the phobia? No. And "knowledge equals healing" is the entire basis for past life therapy. So, maybe making more widescale use of regression therapy is not a panacea, but then again, many patients claim it worked in their lives, so perhaps it should be used more widely. My point is, it's past time hypnotherapy vacated the genre of mysticism and entered the realm ...

John is known as America's Most Trusted Horseman and I'll take it a step further and call him the guy who writes THE how-to books on training. John's not a bells and whistles kind of guy, just one heck of a great trainer. If you purchase only one book on horse training, I suggest this reasonably priced book that beautiflly illustrates how John builds a foundation of trust and respect. 5 stars (From a parent and age group coach) - Eleven of my age group soccer kids completed the 30 workouts in this book in ten weeks. After seeing the improvement in acceleration and speed, the other 8 team members and their parents are sorry they didn't join in. The 30 workouts alone are worth the price of the book. You don't need a sports science background. If you are looking for a "just do-it" approach that improves speed in short sprints, this book is for you. The book cuts to the chase. There is no need to dig out anything. Everything that is included is important and the program works. 4 stars (Univ Prof., Track Coach, Author, Former NFL Speed Consultant) - March 3, 2004 Reviewer: George R. Colfer, PhD. After reading two mixed reviews from 2002 and 2004, I decided to read and review this book. Considering who the book was written for (i.e., young athletes), I would recommend it as a Resource and Guide for Speed Improvement. No book is ever perfect for all audiences regardless of size, length or type. When I see a title for "young athletes," I usually hold my breath as most imitate what works only for highly skilled athletes. The first thing I liked about the book was the introduction including "How to use the book" (pg. 11) and Chapter 1, which offers assessment to determine readiness for certain components of the workouts. Another example was regarding Plyometrics (pg. 90) where the author states a leg strength requirement and who by age level should avoid plyometrics, although I would rather see this at the beginning of the section as many youngsters "do" and don't read. Dr. Dintiman is very knowledgeable and also proven in the area of speed and running improvement. He has a much higher level book now in it's 3rd or 4th printing. 5 stars (Thought Provoking) - In reviewing the reviews written for this book I was appaled at some of the reviews that I read. I seems that this world is trapped in a "Hollywood mentality" in which every book should read like a movie, fast and shallow. This book is much deeper. Although it is short, and obviously cuts out some of the trying times they must have gone through at camp, the author chooses to write it as an uplifting message. Anyone who is bored by this book is missing the deeper message. Children/people with handycaps are human also, and they have to suffer much more than any of us could possibly imagine. This is a story about special children allowed to be normal children, like they were meant to. 1 stars ( The Acorn People Book Report) - 1. The Acorn People takes place in Camp Wiggin, with all the usual camp settings like a pool, mountain, art room, etc. etc. The main character is Ron, a youthful camp counselor hoping to make an extra buck by volunteering. He manifests a selfish, arrogant personality at first, but later you see his more passionate, caring side when he really bonds with the kids. The first boy is a victim of polio, Benny, who is about 12 and African American. Suffering from muscle sclerosis, Thomas Stewart, a young teen, weighs only 35 pounds. The most loquacious client is Spider; he lost both his arms and legs in a gruesome car accident, but adapts and uses his mouth for everything.
