4 stars (Important work if one understands its place) - This is an important work, helping to document the validity of herbal medicine. However, it is not an all-encompassing work and obviously isn't referenced. Nevertheless, the German Commission E's method of publishing monographs based on the information gathered from companies, researchers, and practitioners (but apparently kept confidential) serves a useful purpose. It is always helpful to consult this text to get some solid conformation for common traditional uses. Every practitioner and researcher should have this book, though it certainly cannot be used in a vacuum. 2 stars (Huge Disappointment!) - I had hoped this book could be my benchmark for herbal information. What I found was a book that was hard to use with little useful information. ... Otherwise, Facts and Comparisions' Review of Natural Products is a better choice. 5 stars (The Most Solid and Dependable Work on the Market) - I have worked with herbs for many decades and have shelves and shelves full of works on Herbs and Healing. The German Commission E Monographs is still an often used Reference that in my oppinion belongs on everyone's shelf who works with Herbs. True, it does not cover all that the herbs are capable of and due to lack of proof, many wonderful herbs are not approved, BUT, and this is most important, whatever you find in this book is scientifically proven and you can believe it. I VERY strongly recomend this book, and the CD as well. Whenever you explore a new herb, or need to know facts, check it out in the Commission E Monographs. Then you have a very good outline from where you can start to work with, and together with other herbals get to know and experiment to arrive at your own conclusion. And that is not to mention the inclusion of interaction with other drugs, side effects, mode of administration, active composition for each monograph and different chapters that cover all that is important. A MUST for every practition... 5 stars (The Standard by which All Obstetrics Texts are measured) - There is perhaps no medical specialty that has more misconceptions, "wives tales" and variation than Obstetrics. Williams Obstetrics is more exhaustively comprehensive than any other text for general Obstetrics. Williams has long prided itself on presenting "evidence-based medicine" - separating the wives tales from medical knowledge obtained from published studies from peer-reviewed journals. Perhaps there are those who prefer their Obstetrics with a little voodoo. For those who want to know the most up-to-date scientifically based Obstetrics, Williams is your book! 5 stars (GYN&OB 's Holy Book-Kadin Hastaliklari ve Dogum oncu kitabi) - Williams obstetrics is a very distinguished textbook of obstetrics, and enlightens and guides the physician. Every new edition is more breathtaking than the previous one, I can't wait to have it on a CD or better, a PDA.. 5 stars (Nursing 2006 Drug Handbook) - I have used this product for years in my nursing practice. I depend upon the "Nursing Considerations" section to assist me with patient teaching and care planning. 5 stars (Nursing - Drug Handbook 2006) - This is an excellent resource for both professional and paraprofessionals who are administering medications. I particularily like the patient teaching section. I like the disk for printing drug information pages, which I place with the medication administration record for all staff to read. ... 4 stars (A Brief Review of "Neuroscience") - I just finished using this book for an undergradutate Neurobiology class at Harvard University, and found it to be very informative. It has a number of diagrams and illustrations, and clearly describes various aspects of neuroscience in great detail, but in a comprehensive manor. I recommend it to anyone pursuing a career in neuroscience. 3 stars (Not a definitive resource) - This book has had praise heaped upon it by previous reviewers. I'd like to put that in perspective. As an undergraduate text or a general encyclopedic reference for the unitiated, this book is reasonably comprehensive and contains substantial high-quality illustrations. However as a reference for more advanced students, there is insufficient detail to motivate serious discussion. I find "Principles of Neural Science" by Kandel, Schwartz, and Jessell far more useful despite being a year older than Bear, et al. If the goal is to lift artwork for a pleasingly graphical PowerPoint presentation, this book is a fantastic resource, but if you want more than jargon and an introduction to the topic (albeit comprehensive), I'd look elsewhere. 5 stars (One of the best for beginners in Neuroscience) - This title is the best I have come across and is most suitable for beginners in neuroscince who have no background in biology. Once you start reading the book it is almost difficult to put it away unless you finish the book. ... 5 stars (Understanding the Power of SIx Sigma) - This book is an excellent guide for people who want to know, what is Six Sigma? The authors inform you that Six Sigma is more than a bunch of statistics in a production environment, but also a culture that can be applied to any organization. There is a section; however, that covers the statistical tools used by Six Sigma professionals. They provide important information on how to use the DMAIC model and what it can do for your organization. It covers the key points of implementing Six Sigma and how to measure processes by looking for the "vital few" variables". I highly recommend this book for anyone considering implementing Six Sigma or those who want to know more about this powerful culture. It is well written in terms that can be easily understood by all. 5 stars (Useful for Learners, Teachers & Leaders) - I work as a manager and Master Black Belt at a Fortune 100 company. This book has been very useful in my training of others. I just finished teaching a Six Sigma Black Belt course in which I referred students to this book to reinforce their learning and deepen their understanding. It has transformed the way I teach Six Sigma as well as the way my students learn it. Not only am I suggesting that BB's and BB's-in-training get this book, but I'm also recommending that leaders who have GB's and BB's on their staffs read this book. It gives enough information for leaders to understand what their Six Sigma staff are going through in the trenches. And it also provides leaders with enough education to ask meaningful questions. (Nothing is worse than an uninformed leader trying to lead Six Sigma resources!) 2 stars (Doesn't have a target audience) - If you're just curious about what six-sigma is this is a good, easy to understand, book. But it teaches you little that can be applied. I'm in a company that is begining a six sigma effort and I am assisting the black and green belts in their work. I had wanted...
