5 stars (Lifesaver) - This book came during my summer vacation when my motivation to read was quite low........I read it in one sitting and got so many ideas for my work with language impaired elementary school students. It is timely and appropriate for all age levels. Many educators are looking for research based best practices and this is a great reference! 5 stars (Bringing Words to Life in the classroom!) - Being a teacher, I found "Bringing Words To Life" very helpful. I've gotten so many good ideas to bring to the classroom. Today, we have so many children who sit in front of the television or are focused on video games that they don't have enough real life experience to relate to vocabulary. Having necessary vocabulary skills is very important in reading comprehension. If a child doesn't understand what they're reading then they won't be able to comprehend the story. Reading the story has given my not only ideas to enhance vocabulary but it's given me the inspiration to be creative. I would suggest any teacher read this book to become inspired! 4 stars (Bringing Words to Life) - Bringing Words to Life: Robust Vocabulary Instruction is a good book to use for resource of ways to teach vocabulary. I found Chapter 4: Developing Vocabulary in the Earliest Grades to be the most helpful for finding ideas on how to teach vocabulary to my reading groups. All though, at times I did think some of the chapters were quite lengthy and even sometimes hard to understand. I will be using this book for ideas in the future. ... 5 stars (Awesome Learning Tool) - These cards are amazing. They offer the word in greek (with the genetive and the article) and on the back of the card is the translation in English. Also, if you have the author's book "Basics of Biblical Greek" you may look up the page were that word is in the book. The cards are numbered, and there are more than 950 cards. Just great! 5 stars (Great Vocabulary Tool) - I wish I had ignored the advice of my Greek professor and purchased these cards from the outset of my second year of Greek. These cards are great for vocabulary memorization and review. A great feature is the size of the cards (different and easier to handle than the Vis-Ed cards) and the inclusion of the principal parts on the verb cards. Buying a set of these would have saved me a lot of unnecessarily spent time creating my own cards (I have a wife and four kids and better things to do with my time). Fortunately, for the rest of the year I can do other things with the extra time I'll save. 5 stars (Best NT Greek Vocab Cards Ever) - Keeping it simple: Buy these cards! Zondervan's Greek vocabulary cards are dramatically superior to the VisEd cards. The printing is in a large easy to read font and the card size is just right. For those familiar with the VisEd vocab cards, these are about 1/4 of an inch higher and about 1/4 of an inch narrower. This makes the cards much easier to hold and flip through. Mastering the vocabulary on these cards is absolutely essential to reading the Greek NT. One of the "lies" I was told in Seminary was that you only needed to learn those words used 50 times or more. If you follow that advice, you will need to carry a dictionary with you everywhere you take your Greek NT. The joy and usefulness of NT Greek depends on your memorising all the words used 10 or more times in the NT - and these cards from Zondervan make it easier than ever to do just that. ... 2 stars (Nice toy, does not teach you Greek) - This product is very different from e.g. "Learn to speak French". It does not teach you basic Greek. It will teach you, pleasantly, to say some words and phrases. That's it. If you are pleased to be able to say "Good morning", "Thank you" and "May I have the bill, please" in the local lingo, go ahead and enjoy. If you want to understand any reply, you need more than this. If you just want to get around, a very, very thin printed parlor will serve you better and more reliably. ... 4 stars (Icelandic is awesome) - This is a very good way to start off learning Icelandic. I bought this randomly, and not for a real general purpose, but I have quickly become a fan of this device, and language. In the start mode of the program though it doesnt fully explain what to do and how to get there, its basically trial-and-error process for YOU. But it's very fun and DOES Indeed build your vocabulary... I'm not even a child, and I'd reccommend this for ALL AGES. There's games, "quizzes", and you can record yourself speaking Icelandic (oh how precious) YOU'LL HAVE A BLAST LEARNING THESE WORDS!! ...
