The Reef Aquarium- A Comprehensive Guide to the Identification and Care of Tropical Marine Invertebr

5 stars (Wonderful Stony Coral and Clam Reference) - The good? This book is truly a comprehensive piece covering probably more than you want to know at times. For example, it explains the chemical reactions that occur during calcification of corals and why additions are necessary. After reading many other references, I must say I am very happy I purchased this volume. Contained in these pages are insights you won't find anywhere else. The book clearly explains the setup and maintenance procedures required to be successful in stony coral reef keeping. The bad? My main gripe is trivial. Guys, how about a larger font size and pictures? I had to do a lot of squinting. It could do with a minor revision of some references that are dated (such as collection of live rock from Florida) as the original was 1994, but make no mistake that all information is relevant. In summary... Obviously at this price it is unfortunately out of reach of the casual hobbyist, which is a shame. However, one could buy this book instead of various "reference manuals" which might be the same at the end of the day. Buy it if you can afford it. I also highly recommend Eric Borneman's Aquarium Corals book. 5 stars (Perhaps the best book on reef care) - An exceptional book on the subject. It is comprehensive but I would not say not complete as no book on this subject could be. Still I believe this book to be the best work compiled in book form. Described by many as "the Bible" on the subject it indeed may be but it is not dogmatic as it offers several options and methods and leaves it for the aquarist to use. (Note: This volume covers stony corals and not soft corals). When I started keeping marine aquaria keeping back in 1970 one almost had to employ the skills of a chemist. In those days most people in the hobby?  thought it nearly impossible to care for many of the species of coral now commonly kept. Tropico 2- Pirate Cove Mac

4 stars (Argh - A good time indeed) - After playing Civilization III at an almost addictive rate, Tropico II - Pirate's Cove is a breath of fresh air. And maybe a bit more challenging. There's a tricky balance to keeping your captives resigned and your pirates happy. The graphics are fun and so is a Pirate's life. The learning curve is higher than Civ III (it was for me) - there are so many varibles with Tropico II - a reason why I like the game. The ships a player gets to build are cool. I have had the game unexpectedly quit on me a couple of times and the auto save feature can get annoying. But overall it's a purchase I'm happy with. 5 stars (A great new edition to the wonderful original Tropico) - If you liked Tropico, you should find this fun and entertaining as well. I think both Tropico/Tropico 2 are the best sim games on the market, much more fun that the usual city building games. At first it's a little difficult to grasp some of the concepts, and game play is a little different than the original. In this version you're concerned a lot more with events that actually happen off the island, where as in the original you didn't have any control over what happened when boats/planes left the island. Of course, you also didn't have to worry about ships sinking... The types of games are similar to the original Tropico, where you have scenarios or ones you design yourself. The map editor is a great thing that was not included with the original. You can play single games or there is also a "campaign" that starts you off easy and increases in difficulty (like the Warcraft campaign idea). Pirate Cove provides hours and hours of swashbuckling fun and has many new features. As far as gameplay goes, performance has improved since the original Tropico, it works great in OS X. If you like this game, I'd HIGHLY recommend the original Tropico also. ...

Tropico Master Player-s Edition

5 stars (gooses review) - Anyone who buys this game will learn 2 things 1. the average american can become the dictator of his or her own carribean island and 2. outsourcing american jobs is a good thing (for el presedente). This game can provide hours of entertainment for those who like city simulations. This game is also a fair representation to dictators like sudam huesien or fiedel castro in that the only motives you have to be cruel in this game are to make money for your swiss bank account, to hold onto power, or to get stuff you want done faster. My favorite activity is loading up the jails with people who don't respect me and then sending them to florida on little rafts to get rid of them. Burning all the books on the island also prooves useful when some of the people get to the point where they think their smarter than you. This is another good game for people with old computers 5 stars (Business Sim and RPG Combined) - This classic game combines the best elements of RPG play with a great business sim.
