5 stars (angles and demons) - The story talks about Brilliant physicist Leonardo Vetra, who was attempting to use science to prove the existence of God, has been murdered; his eyes plucked out and the society's ancient symbol branded upon his chest. His final discovery, anti-matter, the most powerful and dangerous energy source known to man, has disappeared. Langdon and Vittoria, Vetra's daughter, embark on a frantic hunt through Rome, following a 400-year-old trail to the lair of the Illuminati, to prevent the incineration of civilization. Dan Brown is quite a talent man. This novel is very interesting and exciting. There is a mystery and suspense. It shows comparison between religion and science, as to the relationship between the two supposedly opposing positions. The Illuminati and antimatter are amazing. I strongly believe that you might fall in love with this novel and refuse to stop reading it. Finally, I am looking forward to reading next novel. 5 stars (the Angels have it) - Like millions of people I read THE DA VINCI CODE and loved it so thought I would try ANGELS AND DEMONS. It's a book about secret brotherhoods, religion and dark assassins. Once again the central character is Robert Langdon. It's a brilliant read. ALSO if you like religious thrillers, I highly recommend STEALING FROM ANGELS by Brian Dullaghan. I would say these are my best two books for 2005. 5 stars (Incredible Read!) - This, along with The da Vinci Code, is one of my new favorite books. It follows Robert Langdon on the trail of a killer and a madman threatening to use a deadly weapon to blow up Vatican City. Dan Brown is an amazing suspense/thriller/mystery author and I'm looking forward to The Solomon Key. While I'm not sure when that'll be coming out, I'm looking forward to the da Vinci Code movie (starring Tom Hanks) and I'm planning on reading more of Brown's books. This book is highly recommended. If you've read The da Vinci Code, you may find yourself enjoying this on... 1 stars (ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE) - Most boring book I've read in a long time. If I wanted more info about prophesies and the "last days", I would read the Bible or the "Left Behind" series. This is a religious pamphlet disguised as a novel 4 stars (A Good Credible Account Of The Future.) - It took me four days to read the Ezekiel Option cover to cover. The story was well written and probably had a more elitist appeal than the populous interest of the Left Behind series. Nevertheless, the writing was more concise and better articulated with a fuller dimensionality to all the characters involved. The biggest factor about the book is a peek into a probable future drawn from biblical prophecy and its interpretation. The fact that it is based upon a fictitious environment makes it all the more readable. It is highly digestible and it picks up approximately two to four weeks before the rapture of the church. The only troubling aspect of the book is the much too touted benevolent light that it paints of our government and the agencies supposedly representing the people at large. Come on, the NSA, CIA, FEMA, and the Oval Office approachable by the average citizenry?! Other than that, you can actually relate to the characters on a more than superficial level. The action and intrigue are fast-paced and the opulent settings that the characters live in because of their stature and importance is laudable. Who's paying for it anyway? The fact that a large number of people have to die to achieve world progress is appalling at best when God through Jesus Christ is going to overturn it anyway as described in this work of fiction. Personally, I think The Ezekiel Option answers a lot of questions concerning the End Times and the catastrophes to come in an entertaining novelization of one possible future. 5 stars (massive anxiety attack) - I'm only half way through and the reason I haven't finished is that I'm scared. I'm dying to get back into it yet it's so frigh... 5 stars (A Call to Courage) - Once again corraling his skills in sci-fi-ish mysteries, Jerry has provided another title with a deeper purpose. That's to cause readers to ask how valuable they regard their faith in the God who's promised to put a punctuation mark on the end of history. Jerry's books are in a league by themselves. Yes, he crafts page-turner novels. But he also forces us to put ourselves in the characters' shoes and ask what we'd do if our lives depended on what we believed as eternally true. ... 5 stars (Great) - I really enjoyed this book. I think it's the best one since Piercing the Darkness and This Present Darkness. It was just a story that I couldn't wait to continue reading. Can't really say enough about it except I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. 4 stars (Thought Provoking) - I've always enjoyed reading Frank's book and this one didn't dissapoint. The only week part was surprisingly the spiritual piece. I felt it was kind of stuck in there in an unnatural way. The characters seemed real, then almost awkward in their faith. I don't want to give away the ending, but I loved the surprise of what I thought was happening versus what really was and who the monster was. A must read for everyone, but not those who get spooked in the dark! 4 stars (I liked it : )) - I have to say that when it statred out about Bigfoot I thought "OH Great, what is this???" Only Peretti can make Bigfoot creatures come to life as individules with unique character traites. I enjoyed the book a lot. MJ ... 5 stars (Excellent...) - I have read several of this authors' books and have never been disappointed. This one was no exception. Well written and suspenseful. It kept me guessing all the way through it. We even see a little bit more of the personal side of Jane Rizzoli, something that I think may have been lacking in the last two books. I did think that this was a pretty quick read, but still hughly recommend it. 5 stars (Page-turning thriller brings an ugly subject into the light) - Bestselling author Gerritsen delivers another page-turning nail biter, well grounded by the prickly, independent characters of Boston homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles. In a brief, searing prologue, a terrified Russian girl recounts a story as commonplace as it is horrifying. Poor, without prospects, Mila is persuaded to emigrate to America with the promise of a good job. But once she and the other six girls have embarked it becomes obvious her guides are actually captors. Crossing the border from Mexico into the U.S. they are greeted by four American men who brutally rape them, then shoot one who tries to run away, leaving her body for the vultures. The narrative then switches to Maura Isles. It's a summer night after a long day and the medical examiner enters her gleaming, deserted morgue to check the position of a corpse's tattoo. As she zips the body bag and turns to leave she hears a noise, dismisses it, then hears it again. Something moving in a body bag. There's a row of them in the busy city morgue and Isles quickly unzips one after another until she comes to a young woman with cold, bluish skin but no obvious wounds or autopsy sutures. "She pressed her fingers to the woman's neck and felt icy skin. Bending close to the lips, she waited for the whisper of a breath, the faintest puff of air against her cheek. The corpse opened its eyes." Meanwhile Jane Rizzoli's baby is overdue and the homicide cop is restless and uncomfortable. Her water ...
