5 stars (info galore) - This book is a kick-start. It gives you a great desire to get started and a belief that you can do this. Reading it once will not be enough if you want to truly learn all that is offered in this book. 5 stars (One of the best books of the year!) - "How to Buy, Sell and Profit" is, in my opinion, one of the best business books of 2005. This book has insight, education, humor and is easy to read. The information is logically outlined and contains value to both the beginner and advanced eBay seller. Essentially the book is written in story format and not like a textbook, which is what makes it so easy to follow and understand. eBay is a great opportunity for people to make a lot of money, or just get rid of some stuff in their house. In "How to Buy, Sell & Profit on eBay" I learned how best use eBay to apply to my situation. I highly recommend this book. It's the best book I've ever read on the subject of eBay - and one of the best business books I've read this year! 5 stars (Don't miss out on your chance to finally start your eBay business. Get this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) - I have been buying from eBay for years and I have really enjoyed. I've never had a bad experience. I always wondered what it would be like to 'sell' as well. This book was recommended to me by a fantastic marketer called Bill Glazer. I have a lot of respect for him. Anyway I bought the book as Bill advised and it's really great. It gives fantastic advice on how to get started fast. It really would drive you to ACTION. A few days after reading it I sold my first product.Adam lay's out everything very clearly. I followed Adam's advice and started selling things lying around the house and up in the attic. My son Neil 'tied' down his two fairly large fish tanks incase I sold them as well.;-) I've now progressed to selling three products and the tests are proving very positive. This book will really get you fired up and you will be very enthusiastic after read... 4 stars (Basic introduction with a few bright spots) - This book serves as a basic introduction to retail, though it often feels like "baby talk". It basically describes, without much analysis, the types of policies retailers adopt in several areas including merchandising, inventory management, ordering, HR, finance, store layout, etc. Good as a reference to what others are doing, but not at the cutting edge of retail. 4 stars (A realistic review of Retailing....) - RMgmt is a great book with valuable case studies from people with REAL experience. From concept to info systems, the book helps the reader really understand the critical areas of a retail business and the virtal measures ... 5 stars (A must read for all professionals working with families) - This book is insightful as the author elaborates on different ethnic populations and the broad range of cultural influences that family therapists encounter in clinical practice. It is a must read for all professionals working in the field of family therapy, social work, psychotherapy and counselling who work with different ethnic populations. 5 stars (The Best There Is On The Influences of Our Ancestors) - Ethnicity and Family Therapy is quite simply the best book that exists to any interested person as well as students and professionals with a good overview of important factors to understand when dealing with differences that exist in people. I first became familiar with Monica McGoldrick about eighteen years ago. She has devoted her life's work to research and writing on the influences of ancestry and ethnicity in our contemporary lives. Every time I pick this book up (over the first and second editions), I find myself lost in it as if it is my first discovery of it and I always learn something new! A great book for a discussion group to consider. 5 stars (A Must for anyone working with families) - I have been using this book and the earlier book in my practice for more than ten years. It has been vital to my work not only with other cultures, but my own (Irish)> I have often shared the readings with my clients who also found the chapters on their cultures to be acurate. If there was going to be one book on my shelf, this would be it. Got a copy to sell I would buy it as a back-up! ... 5 stars (Counseling the Culturally Diverse: Theory & Practice) - Sue & Sue have revised their book with wonderful results. This time they include a section "Clinical Implications" in each chapter, this adds to the information and helps with the teaching of this necessary subject. As usual Sue & Sue are thorough and thoughtful in their presentation. They also include the notion of Organizational Culture as a needed subject of study. I highly recommend this book for any clinican and professor who works in the field of psychology. Dr. Gabrielle M. Guedet, Ph.D., MFT 4 stars (Good Book, some problems with it.) - This was required reading for a class I was taking in multicultural issues. It was very interesting but it was hard to read parts of it because of the nature of confronting our biases that the book addresses. I did have some issues with the way the book approached discussing the role of white people in society. It was almost as if the authors wanted me to feel bad about being white. Overall it was very informative and gave really good examples and implications for clinical use. 1 stars (A Biased Look at Bias in America) - I must add my disappointment to many others who have already posted here. This book is required reading in my masters in counseling course, and I was hoping for something that would provide valuable guidelines to reach across cultures in counseling. Unfortunately, Sue & Sue make it quite clear that the only reaching across cultures to be done is by White Americans. Whites are painted as being responsible for all bias in our country while non-Whites are to be held responsible for nothing. Period. Just because these two authors (or any authors, for that matter) are considered the experts in their field does not mean they are necessarily correct. It is impossible for any human being to approach any subject without bias, yet overall Sue & Sue hold only Whites accountable for recognizing and correcting their biases. At the same time... 5 stars (Revolutionary!) - Everyone who has a body should read this book! Read it and spread the word. A+++. 5 stars (Sarno has turned my life around) - After 20 years of severe sciatica, following Sarno's program 100% and reading the TMS Help message forum on the internet daily has resulted in roughly an 85% reduction in leg and buttocks pain over the last year. That's after I wasted so many years on chiropractic, accupuncture, back exercises, avoiding certain physical movements, PT, deep muscle massage, cortisone injections, and 4 horrible and useless back surgeries. 5 stars (Knowledge is Power) - I'm a physical therapist with 20 years experience in treating patients with low back pain, neck pain, and other various pain problems and if everybody would accept this information I would be looking for a job. After five years of chronic low back pain, I was completely painfree in two week after accepting my back pain was due to repressed emotions and not some type of structural problem. And yes by the way I do try to tell my patients now about the process but most will not accept it. I know at first the whole process sounds like a bunch of bull, but let me tell you there is a huge body of scientific research linking stress to back pain. Just think for a minute about all the great strides of modern medicine and then think how bad that same modern medicine is at curing back pain. That's because doctors and therapists are focused on the wrong problem. Doctors and therapists blame various structural problems when the real culprit is stress, pressure, and repressed emotions. Your back does not hurt because you are weak, inflexible, or malaligned it hurts because life is full of stress and pressure. I know because I lived it too. Dr. Sarno does a great job of explaining all this and makes a strong argument against traditional treatments. He explains how acceptance is critical not by blind faith but by knowledge and logic. He is truly one of the great thi... 5 stars (A Godsend) - I was desperate for information to prepare for my licensure exam. This book was extremely thorough, accurate and incredibly helpful. I had gathered numerous books and notes to study from, but most of what I needed was right in this book. I recommend it to anyone studying for psychology, counseling, social work, or other related licensure/certifying examinations. 5 stars (Study for NCE) - This is an easy to use, easy to understand tool to help you do your best on the NCE test. You really need the CD's " Vital Information and Review Questions for the NCE and State Counseling Exams" to use along with this book, to get the maximum benefit. It seems expensive, but you need to consider how much your counseling license is worth to you. 5 stars (All you need is this book and a couple months...) - This was the ONLY book I studied for the NCE. I did not dig up my notes, and I did not reference other texts. I read it cover to cover twice, marking the questions I did not guess right the first time and returning to them until I could get them right. The best part is the explanations. There were actually a couple of questions in the book that the author got wrong or that were disputable. On the whole, however, this book is all you will need to study and pass. The test makes you feel like you brought a violin to a flute concerto, but your score will confirm that the book was the correct sheet music. ... 5 stars (Good Book) - I am just about finished with this book. I have enjoyed it so far. I am already implementing the tips in it to my current selling career. I am already seeing increased success. 5 stars (The Master of Sales is Selling Encouragement in this one!) - Zig continuously manages to be encouraging in a profession where any encouragement helps! Just read this book and compare your attitude about sales to his. [...] 5 stars (Zig is the grandfather of sales skills ) - Zig Ziglar has done it again. As an author myself of sales books, I realize sales is about so much more than just having the 'gift of gab,' and fast talking. It's about asking the right questions and listening to the right answers. It's about not just being a consultant to others, but being a consultant to yourself. It's recognizing you are in the most honorable profession there is. Zig's theories exemplify this. ... 5 stars (Direct. Easy to follow. I wish I'd thought of writing this book.) - I bought this title on a whim after reading a few mixed reviews. I can say that the information in this book is valid and direct. There is little fluff. As well, anyone leaving a poor review has obviously either not read the book or is intentionaly trying to sabotage its sales for their own benefit. An absolute must for any new car salesman. 2 stars (Unimpressive) - I ordered this book after reading several good reviews about it. After reading it, though, I was unimpressed to say the least. I guess I'm not gullible enough to believe the BS and hokey stories that seem to have been exaggerated, embellished, or made up all together. Overall it was a big disappointment. 2 stars (Mediocre) - I am new to sales, selling cars for only 7 months. This book has little new or significant material. 4 stars (Nothing groundbreaking, but a concise compilation of methods) - The concept of "Covert Hypnosis" was something I had never come across, or so it seemed. After reading through this PDF file, it would appear that Covert Hypnosis is simply the rather sensationalist name given to a mixture of conversational techniques born out of NLP and hypno-therapeutic procedures. The Grinder Bandler book, "Patterns of the Hypnotic Techniques of Milton H Erickson, MD" contains a good half of the content discussed here in "Gut Impact", and I only came across one or two things that I do not remember previously encountering in NLP related literature. Gut Impact is not a revolutionary system teaching the reader how to communicate on a profoundly powerful level, using "Covert Hypnosis", and in this respect it may be worth only 2-1/2 or 3 stars. I decided it deserved 4 stars however, because Gut Impact is a well-written, easily understandable and concise collection of direct ideas and applications related to influencing people through gaining rapport and, as the blurb advertises, "bypassing" the natural barriers of a person to talk directly to their "gut". This book contains nothing really that cannot be found elsewhere by perusing some of the excellent listmania or "So you'd like to..." guides here on Amazon related to NLP. This book does however present some of the more direct and easy to apply methods without the often more in-depth writings and specifics of other works in a "stripped-down" sort of a way making it a useful "no-nonsense" reference or a great place for beginners to start to learn about NLP techniques. 5 stars (Very well written) - Using NLP skills and Ericksonian hypnosis in the area of seduction seems to be a rather profitable business and it has stimulated the emergence of many ebooks that deal with this topic, some of which leave a lot to be desired. Sexual Key and Gut Instinct by J.D. Fuentes are very well written and I think he should eventually... 5 stars (Excellent) - I am a college student who doesnt run competitively but I run around 3-5 times per week and have been for years. This book gives great information about how to train for races and improve speed. I have bought a few running books and this is by far the best, I have no need to buy any more running books. The only thing that turned me off a little when first recieving the book is its size, it has almost 50 chapters and is over 600 pages long. However you do not need to read all 600 pages, I would recomend it to get the most knowledge out of the book, but definately not necessary. Highly recomended for anyone who wants to improve their speed and learn how to the proper way. 5 stars (Great resource - don't confuse it though) - This book is a great resource for all aspiring competitive runners. However, don't confuse this book with Glover's other book - which is more for beginning and non-competitive runners. There is a lot of overlap between the two books, so there is not much point in buying both. However, I can see a beginner outgrowing the beginner book and wanting the extra info that the "Competitive" handbook can provide. Both are great. 3 stars (Good Enough) - This is my least favorite running book although it is written competently enough. Too much childish ego on the part of the authors detracts from an otherwise good enough book. The best part of the book for me was the discussion of heart rate training, something that is barely mentioned in many of the other running books. There is also not enough explanation on developing training schedules which wasn't too much of a surprise since the authors sell guess what?... training schedules and coaching. Worth buying but not the best. ... 5 stars (Real Value) - This book represents what I consider to be a real value in book-buying. Not only are the tricks and secrets it presents truely useful and money-making in themselves, but getting the book as an ebook download saved the time and expense of waiting for the paperback to arrive in the mail. I would recommend this ebook to anyone who wants to make more money from selling on ebay. And another awesome ebook I highly endorse is the new "FREE YOUR LOVE NOW" ebook by Clint Arthur, which offers a provocative and exciting alternative for making more money and getting more fulfillment in life. 5 stars (got to read this book.) - this book was so much fun to read. very informative. 3 stars (It's only valuable if you need the advice) - The author does a nice job of taking what he teaches his students about eBay businesses and articulating this in a 67-page white paper. I could probably summarize in 5 bullet points what I learned and tell you that it has value to me. The ultimate question is "was it worth $[...] to get this author's advice and learn a few new things?" because you're not getting anything more than a white paper. It's not a book. Other than the electronic cover, it looks just a paper anyone could turn into a college professor using Word. If you know a lot and are already successful with your eBay business, it's a waste of money. If you know very little other than the basics of buying and selling, his advice will prevent you from making some very frustrating and costly mistakes. You'll make your $[...] back in your eBay listings very quickly. This is not a book for someone who has never sold or bought on eBay (Absolute Beginner's Guide for eBay is a good choice for that audience). In fact, the author tells the reader right up front to buy and sell a few things and get a rating established with some positive feedback before proceeding through the information he outlines in his ebook/white paper.
