4 stars (Open Says Me) - This book is an extraordinary manual for emergency entry procedures. The directions are clear and concise, and the numerous illustrations are very helpful. This book can teach you how to bypass a lock with a bottle of bleach -- who knew ?? 5 stars (Far from easy ....) - I had been trying to open an old S&L moneybox for some time - the lock mechanism is "simple" per this book. Curiosity can be frustrating. I didn't want to spend any money on tools for a one off project (I ended up doing this and bought another book). The intellectual satisfaction was worth it. I'm interested in antiques so may get some payback for learning in the future. (I can now also open simple padlocks, and furniture locks, with an improvised tool in fairly quick time.) The information on getting into a locked car is easy to follow; I knew some of this before buying the book but the process will be easier in future. The stuff on handcuffs also appears straightforward - if you use them for business or pleasure - I don't - this could be worth reading. This is a practical book but hard work and requires practice. Worth reading if you have a real interest in locks and will practice. Not for beginers; I bought this book first then came back to it. 4 stars (Just about there.) - personally im only interested in picking locks and this book does help abit, but it focuses more on bypassing security systems and teaches you how. the paragraphing is kinda compact and so are the instructions and diagrams for me- someone with little technical background. a good read for the hot and lazy afternoon or those boring plane trips. ...

5 stars (Excellent book!) - Very pleased! This book is clear and invaluable for teaching you all about wiring - especially if you've never done it before! 5 stars (I did it!) - I compared this book to many others (including the Home Depot book mentioned in another review) before I bought it, and this one seemed to be the most comprehensive, clear and concise for my purposes. I used this book to help guide me through wiring portion in the process of ripping out my entire basement (all the way to the block walls) and rebuilding it. This is a fifty year old house with old "ragwire" wiring, which I replaced as I did the new work. I used the information in the book to do my electrical permit drawings which flew through the permit office with no comments from the reviewer. I installed multiple remote controlled recessed and surface-mounted lighting fixtures and networked the house for computer, video, audio and telephone by following the well-illustrated and clearly written directions in the book. The circuit diagrams proved especially helpful in wiring the multiple-switched and zoned lighting fixtures. All of the work passed the rough-in and final inspections by the electrical inspector without a single comment or change, and not once did I need to call in a professional electrician. I have several more projects on the agenda, including wiring my large shed, some low-voltage landscape lighting and a complete remodeling of the 50 year old kitchen and bathrooms, and this book includes all of the required information. I know I won't need to buy any other DIY books on the subject of wiring in order to finish the projects. Based on the quality and ease-of-use of this book, I went out and bought the Black & Decker book on plumbing. 1 stars (No attention to detail) - This book had so many errors, the entire class including the instructor were confused. It is very sad to see a textbook in its fifth or sixth edition with so many mistakes. Many of the questions at the end of the chapter are so poorly written, that there was no solution. Clearly, the authors had a goal and a message to convey, but because there was no attention to detail, the message was muddy at best. I remain disenchanted with the general quality of textbooks, but this is one of the worst examples of a textbook I have ever seen. Come on America, educate! ...

5 stars (Great idea book) - I went shopping for a sewing desk for my Viking Husqvarna & my Babylock serger & was surprised to find a table/cabinet/desk for both was over $1,000. This book offers some cost-effective solutions for sewing storage/workplace options & gives guidelines for sewing ergonomics. Great suggestions are also offered for storing fabric, buttons, thread, etc. Great book. 5 stars (Just What the Dr. Ordered) - This book gave me every piece of information I was seeking to design a sewing room from design arrangements to the actual height & dimensions a work surface should have. This book took into consideration all types of sewing one might do as well as tips for convenience should one not have the luxury of a separate sewing space. Specific storage suggestions and directions for building such things as thread racks were very timely for me. The illustrations- cartoons, really- are attractive, and clearly show exactly what you want to know without excessive detail or abstract diagrams. 5 stars (I love this book!) - I am really loving this core workout. It shows alot of great workouts with differents ways to do them. They weren't all the same old same that i have seen in shape magazine. I do agree with others that the binding should be alittle nicer but if you are careful with it like i am, it won't fall apart. I also like the excersize routines at the end of the book. Made it easier to get going without taking the time to find a plan to work whatever muscles i wanted that day. There is a couple all body, a few core, few upper body, lower body and abs and backs. Also the pregnancy was good to know for the future. I think this has a good viarity for people with different skills all the way up to great physical fitness. I still find alot of excersizes challenging 5 stars (A great book for ball resistance traing and stretching A+) - First let me preface that I have been working out on exercise balls for years and truly believe in them as exceptional fitness tools. Even advanced body builders are using the ball to improve core muscle structure and increase metabolism and flexability. This book is exceptional in its approach. The selection of exercises encompass all training levels. Novices can immediately use the book and hard core, experience lifters can also strongly benefit. There are several very useful workouts at the end of the book which I would strongly recommend. I only have two problems with the book. 1. The book itself will fall apart on you in the gym. I wish it were constructed a little better. At least it is not an expensive book. 2. There could have been more descriptive pictures in some of the more advanced, multi-move exercises. I had no problem understanding all of the moves but a beginner may become confused with some of the more complex maneuvers. Other than that, this is a wonderful book. 1 stars (Ick!) - This book is freaky. It is all about baby stuff that no one buys.. like all the stuff that sits on the shelf at Wal Mart and then gets sold at Big Lots. There are no super-cool things in it at all. If you want to be a dowdy mom with no style, listen to the advice of this author. I found a much better book out there.. I saved a TON of money and still got the best products for us... for example, look at ebay for things you can clean and machine wash -- we got everything new and that was a mistake we regret. Swing, Bouncy, Mobiles, toys, safety items and decorations, are things you can buy used ans save a lot! There is also the church sales and the statewide garage sales to get good bargains. I went ahead and copied the phrase from the last review (the one that talks about clothe diapers and making your own formula) CANNOT DISAGREE MORE with the savings approach (I'm a working mother) but definitive ABSOLUTELY AGREE with this statement Overall, I would recommend purchasing Baby Bargains. 5 stars (Cool Book, Great Information for Budding Sports Shooter) - I recently upgraded to a Canon Rebel to photograph my children's gymnastics and soccer events. I had this book on order before it was available, and just got it a few days ago. It has opened my eyes to what I need to actually take photos and not just use the automatic settings -- and it even contains information on these two sports! It explains a lot about digital photography in simple terms, which filled in several gaps for me about digital photography. Plus, my son is into skateboarding and my wife is a skier, so now I can figure out how to take photos of that as well. I also liked the information about what to do with the photos to process them, print them, and get them online. The method shown is easy and seems like it's not jsut meant for professionals; it includes point-and-shoot as well as big-camera info. It's great that there are so many photos and advice from many photographers, not just one. I've already recommended this book to my kids' coaches.
