5 stars (Mother-Daughter Wisdom) - I just got my book and have started reading it. Its great. I had seen Christiane Northrup on tv and she is great. She makes you think...."why didn't I think of that-its so simple" 1 stars (Cliches, platitudes and old chestnuts) - As mother of two teenagers, I had high hopes for this book, but I almost gagged on the number of trite sayings this author can cram into a paragraph. You will find "great" insights like: mothers are very important in an infant's life, two year olds are announcing their independence, and it's important to keep channels of communication open with your daughter even when things aren't going smoothly. And I paid how much money to learn THAT?? If you have had your eyes and ears open for any length of time, you will find nothing new in this book. It is all hype and marketing with no substance. And wisdom? That's the biggest hype of all. Save your money and just go talk to your daughter. 5 stars (Wow! Awesome Book! Mothers of Daughters: Get This Book!) - First off, this book makes a great gift to anyone you know who has a daughter regardless of age. It makes a great baby shower gift, also. I just want to start by saying, I first saw this book and I skimmed through it, but didn't buy it. I was very skeptical. I am a well read individual and I was thinking: "I don't need another lame self help book by some would be expert that sits on my shelf that I never read. My daughter's five: there is a bunch of birth, pregnancy stuff in the book. I am past those stages and don't need a book that covers stuff I don't need." However, I ended up going back and getting the book. I am SO glad I did. Now I am here to say: this book is amazing. Reading the book made me want to read all of her books. I took so many notes and have already started using some of what she wrote. Emotional Intelligence - Why It Can Matter More Than IQ

5 stars (Neurology of emotions) - This book does an excellent job of explaining how the brain is overpowered by emotions. You also learn that if you are in an extreme state of emotional arousal, your rational ability is impaired. To deal with emotions, I strongly recommend Rosalene Glickman's book, Optimal Thinking: How To Be Your Best Self and the Optimal thinking emotional mastery wallet cards. In the Optimal thinking resources, you receive a clear explanation of each emotion, why they are caused and how to be deal with each troublesome emotion. You are provided with questions to understand and resolve them. Both of these books are excellent. 4 stars (Good overview of how emotions affect - and sometimes rule - our lives) - I suppose I was first interested in this book, which has been around quite some time now, by the often quoted assertion that emotional intelligence - EQ - is now more important to career development and job performance than IQ. What I found was a good explanation of how humans are affected and sometimes governed by their emotions. The book is one of an interesting genre - popular social science, a bit like the work of Malcolm Gladwell - and I must admit it had me gripped to start with. By the end of the book, I was a bit over it, because it tends to look at how EQ can be boosted in kids and obviously being a fully-grown adult I was interested to know how I could boost my own EQ and in doing so boost my chances of early promotion, unfathomed success and early retirement. The book is pretty good at explaining the process of emotional reactions and I love the phrase "emotional hijacking" - when our emotions take over. I suppose the real value in this book is understanding as a whole how your brain works and what exactly your emotions are. 2 stars (ugh) - like the other books in the series, it is rife with stereotypes. readers of these books would never guess from reading them that christian men and women have any sexual problems aside from piggish man who thinks only of satisfying his animal desires and wants a physicallyperfect specimen and woman who dont really like sex but because they have been attacked and/or didnt get enough attention from their daddies will grit their teeth and get through it to get the attention and romance. I am not demeaning the fact that this is some peoples story BUT dont go calling these books "everyman" and "everywoman". newsflash Shannon: there are women who struggle with real lust. there are women who want sex and thier husbands dont and they struggle to stay pure. there are women who are sick and tired of wondering what the hell is wrong with them because their issues are not just like yours. your problems are but a narrow slice of the christian pie. unfortunately, because Mr Arturburn and the folks he has found to coauthor his series are the only ones out there willing to talk about this stuff...people who fit the stereotypcial mold seem to make up the vast majority of people willing to open their mouths about their relationship difficulties. 5 stars (I would like to clarify something) - I have not read this book yet, but am going to soon. I just want to clarify for those who keep referring to "HIM" and "HE" that wrote the book. This book was written by a woman, not a man. Please pay attention, things like that really bother me. 4 stars (Great book! ) - This book is very well written and will keep your interest. The book covers some very important facets of leadership mainly: integrity, ethics, trust, and other peoples feelings. If you are reading this review and you don't really know why those factors are keystones to leadership then this book would be a good addition to your leadership skills. If leadership were a pie this book would be several slices but not the whole pie. For an in-depth look at leadership read the army field manual for leadership. 5 stars (Primal Leadership) - The book by Daniel Goleman, Richard Boyatzis and Anne Mc Kee is a wonderful study on all modern leadership styles, and how to learn how to lead with Emotional Intelligence. Several cases are presented, on worldwide and US companies, providing us with the best and thorough analysis on how to achieve the highest performance, by focusing on the diverse aspects of Emotional Intelligence. I believe it is a must for top executives, managers and counsellors from Organizations, and for all of those seeking to improve their emotional skills, be them focused on job or on life improvement. 2 stars (Too stretching) - I really liked Dan Goleman's previous books on Emotional Intelligence (EI). Goleman's article on "Primal Leadership" appeared in Harvard Business Review (HBR) a few years ago. His book version of primal leadership is a little too stretching. If you are not keen on reading the not-so-interesting details, I would recommend the article version in HBR, which gives a very good synopsis of the book. ...

1 stars (So-so, look at others before you buy) - This book was so-so. It contained a lot of highly basic material. I was not really impressed with Dr. Loehr's theories about sport. It seemed that he did not have much access to sport himself. The examples that were given were very modest and could have used some help. I would only reccommend this book to someone who has rarely particiapted in sports...too basic for the advanced. 2 stars (A little over the edge...) - This book has a lot of terms and things that don't make a lot of sense.
