5 stars (You can't go wrong with Max) - Is there any better way to compliment study or prayer time with a little Max Lucado. In a world which we must live with our antennas up and dealing with sin and heresy -- even in our own lives and our own churches -- the writings of Max Lucado always calm the soul and refresh the spirit. He can tell why the Bible says not to sin in a way that's not abrasive and hypocritcal, yet confrontational. He can write about the Holy Spirit in a way that accentuates the love of God, yet contains discernment of the sweaty TV evangelists who tear apart believers. He explains stories and life experiences in a manner that connects us directly with God. The most compelling issue: how Max writes about faith in God. The last chapters are the most memorable for me. He writes of the promises of our eternal security in Christ, according to Romans 8:38. Indeed, nothing can separate us from God's love, and Lucado's "Come Thirsty" is just another one of his simple yet strong reads that brings every Christian that reads it closer to God. 5 stars (Pour me a glass, please!) - Mr. Lucado continues to write on spiritual truths in a way that makes them easy to understand and relevant to everyday life. "Come Thirsty" is no exception and a must read for all Lucado fans. Also would make a great gift for anyone who feels they are too far from God and undeserving of His grace. 5 stars (Goose bumps by page 10) - Max Lucado hits another home run with this book. "Come Thirsty" arrived at my house just when I felt I was going through a dry spell. His method of conveying God's love and the promise of your spiritual thirst being quenched by the living water of the Lord is,as always, clear, concise, and uplifting. Don't miss having this one in your Lucado collection. ... 5 stars (Meat on the bones) - This is an excellent treatment of the 12. I used it as a starting point for a series of sermons this summer. It brings the flat apostles into focus, to see the life changing effect that being with Jesus brought into one's life. Highly recommended for both group and individual study. 4 stars (Great Apostle Research) - I really like hearing about the histories of the apostles. Makes them seem much more "real" than the abstract readings from the bible. It's also very well written. The other book in the same vein that I recommend in the genre is Your Apostle Personality (it's also at Amazon) which goes a little further relating our personalities to those of the apostles. 5 stars (From the Ordinary to Extraordinary) - This book was excellent, each apostle's personality was described according to scripture; each one of these personalities amazingly makes up the body of Christ before conversion. Here the evidence is laid out before us as to how God took each one; balanced them; settled them, and made them new creatures in order to go out and preach the gospel. Thank God for the Word in it's purest form. It's encouraging and engaging; It made you feel like you was there with them. You seen them go from glory to glory (except for Judas Iscariot). I have seen churches portray the disciples as a bunch of fools-But not in this book! you see the mire clay and the finished product. Please buy this book - you won't be disappointed. ... 5 stars ("Traveling Light") - This is by far one of the best books I have ever read. Max Lucado has a way of sharing his insight in a manner that everyone can learn from. Need a lift in your life; need to unload some of the excess baggage you are carrying around. This is the book that will help you do it. 5 stars (Very Inspiring) - I listened to the book on tape of Traveling Light. It was very enjoyable and entertaining and also very inspiring. Max Lucado used images and descriptions in his teaching that make the lessons very easy to understand. He is very knowledgable and gets his point across in a manner that is easy to follow. This is a great book for someone who wants a better understanding of the Psalm, or who is looking for an easy to follow inspirational message. 5 stars (Carry a Lighter Load.) - I started reading some of Lucado's work about 5 years ago and have always found it a perfect fit for whatever situation I am currently in. This particular novel is great in breaking down some of the more common excess baggage that we all carry daily. It is a self-help book tightly wrapped with anecdotes that make it an entertaining read while dealing with a very heavy subject. The study pages in the back make it an even more useful tool for dissecting your life. This is a book that you can read all at once for pleasure or in multiple sittings for use as a daily devotional. ... 5 stars (A book for anyone searching to find themselves.) - This book will open your eyes to the things you sometimes can't see about yourself. A book that explains how God sees you and how you should view God. 3 stars (Falls Short) - McGee goes through a lot of pages to talk about various beliefs and counterpoints them well with God's solutions. However, the book is woefully short on practical instruction on how to change your false belief thinking into spiritual truths. I don't disagree with what he has to say. I just wish he had said more about how to combat the false beliefs we spend a lifetime learning. 5 stars (Awesome Book!) - Our church used this book in a class setting. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who feel that their life is insignificant. According this book, Mr. McGee points out that God says that our lives are signigicant and that we have a purpose. Even when we fail, God still loves us. It has made an impact on my life. I have begun to trust God more and know that he loves me not based on my performance, but because he loves me for who I am. I will fail in life and so will you. Always remember that when we feel like punishing ourselves, God is there to help us up. That is what this book is all about: How significant you are to God and to others around you, even through the tough times. ...
