4 stars (A joint thought model of special value to children and young adults ) - It has been mentioned by reviewers that Dr. R Franklin's contribution goes unappreciated. Of course she had died of cancer when Watson and Crick et. al. received the Nobel Prize; otherwise she would have been included, as she deserved. That aside, the principal value of young people's reading this book, aside from a passing familiarity with a key discovery of modern times, is the way Watson and Crick interacted to get to the truth. Each would attack the arguments of the other- not in the tricky sort of way one associates with TV lawyers, but pointing out the limits of the other's arguments and contradictions with established principles of chemistry and physics. It is somewhat akin to Talmudic argument. It has a good deal owed to the logic of Aristotle and the thought process of thesis, antithesis, synthesis repeated over and over developed by Hegal. The book provides enough insight to be of value without such technical detail that would take it out of the range of an average reader. 5 stars (Science and Personalities) - Comments can be directed to respectfulempiricist.com This is a marvelous little book that brings out impressions of the many great and not so great minds involved in the ultimate understanding of what DNA looks like and how it multiplies. As the title implies, Watson is describing his own subjective mental picture of the people and events that led up to his and Francis Crick's ultimate Nobel winning discovery, a discovery that has stood the test of time. Watson describes the personalities of the many people involved directly or otherwise. Though he uses kind words, it is apparent that different people and different times grated on him. He also describes his travels, academic frailties and personal loneliness. The latter while thinly veiled, was mentioned throughout the book. 5 stars (Updated information AND layout makes a healthy book) - This book is by far the best ever. It is the first edition of OBOS which I feel really addresses the equally pressing healthcare needs of myself and younger generations of women. I had used prior versions of this book, but still had felt that the authors of those versions assumed that the readers had been with them through the 1970's...etc. The tone of this book is very inclusive and non-presuming. Consequently the medical information presented does not get lost in the personal vingettes. Our own generational experiences are just as important. Also, the authors take an enligthened approach to sexuality instead of segmenting off "LGBT/queer" issues into a couple of areas. This book is further commendable because it made more of an effort to tell the stories (and thus provide culturally sensitive health care) for different women. Kudos to the people who suggested a redesign and updating of the book layout. 5 stars (A must have!) - Especially in a culture as embarrassed to talk about anything sexual, this book is a great resource for everyone. Information as open and educated gets harder and harder to find in today's political environment, and this book has it all. No home should be without it! 1 stars (very political) - While I understand the possibility of political opinions surfacing in books, what was supposed to be a helpful guide for women of all ages is in reality a campaign for pro-choice and many other liberal stances. The book goes so far as to state that those that are pro-life "have created an atmosphere that is stigmatizing, threatening, and too often violent." While there have been cases of violence that the great majority of us do not condone, I find it very offensive that this opinion about us causing trouble that apparently isn't warranted is stated as a fact. 2 stars (this reference book was all marked up!) - While the seller tells me the item was described as having some marks--I don't think I would have bought a reference book that was riddled throughout with nonsensical highlights and pencil markings. 2 stars (not recommended) - I would not recommend this book as a good source to learn more about ADD or ADHD. Although it was somewhat interesting to read about the life experiences of others, it really did not offer useful coping skills. I also felt like it was geared more towards adults who had not recognized their problems until much later in life and the havoc undiagnosed ADD can cause in your life. Some of the other books I have read also give a few examples which are helpful in recognizing and understanding your child and their problems, but they also offer good coping skills for you and for your child. 5 stars (Driven to Distraction) - I loved this CD, it gave me insight into a disorder/condition that affects several people I care very deeply about. The Best American Erotica 2005

5 stars (Very Enjoyable) - I do enjoy my fair share of erotica -- some would say more than my fair share -- and this book has earned a proud spot on my collection shelf, right beside the best of the bunch including "Story of O" and "9 Free Secrets Of New Sensual Power" (which not only entertains but also edifies you through erotic stories.) Well done Susie! 5 stars (I loved it!!) - This is one of the better anthologies of erotica that I've read. it's got so many good stories--and sexy scenes--it's unbelievable. The stories are diverse and entertaining. I loved reading it and hope to read more. The only thing that's come close this year, is "My Dirty Thirties" erotica series, which I liked a lot, too. 5 stars (Awesomely erotic) - I've read the stories and loved them all, but my favorite one is, "It's never too late in New York," by, Nelson George. I don't want to explain too much, it's such a short story; I might tell it all in one paragraph. But I will say, I was excited to see slang writing, quoted for the characters. This was an urban story, African-American based. This story and all the others were engaging. In the story, I liked the character, Walter's personality. He had a sexy way about him. Walter mentioned to his friend Dwayne, about a girl whose nickname was Medina, a stripper he met in a club. Dwayne reminded Walter both he and him went to the movies with Medina together, in the past; he also reminded Walter of her real name. Dispite Dwayne's jealously towards Walter, in dating Medina, Walter remained cool about it all. Throughout the whole book, these hot, erotic stories were really worth reading. I recommend it. ...
