Mario Power Tennis

5 stars (great!) - i played the demo at wal-mart once and it's interesting but hard! you have to be quick to get it but the poeple are soooo slow!!!! the ghosts come out of a powerup and pick on the other player if you pick it up too. 3 stars (Okay game) - This game is okay. The graphics are good and there is a variety of mini games. The replay value is moderate. If you want a great Mario sports game, then get Super Mario Strikers when it comes out. It's a Mario soccer game. I played the demo and it was really fun. Get that instead of this. 5 stars (I have advice and more stuff.) - Use a different character like mario, you just didn't hit it close enough for a offence shot, or you hitted the wrong buttons. the offensive uses A+R or just A when it is fully charged. And the shots don't need to be charged for the little trick I mentioned earlier. The lighting cup is annoying in team mode. It would be awsome if there was a mario tennis revolution released in 2007 or 2008. ...

Winning Ugly - Mental Warfare in Tennis--Lessons from a Master

5 stars (Excellent book.) - This is a great book. The stories about playing days are getting a little dated, but the concepts are timeless. There are several sections that I'm going to re-read. The only people who shouldn't read this are my opponents. :D 5 stars (An excellent title for players with sound strokes) - I remember picking up this book from a bookstore a few years back. Then, I didn't have sound strokes and a pathetic serve. The book was humorous and excellent tips on how to beat power players, moonballers, net players and more. Unfortunetly, the book didn't do any good for me. Until now, I have improved my groundstrokes and serve greatly and I'm starting to go the net. I now play strategicily in singles and doubles in competition and now a plan of action in each game. Read this book. It is your essential key to winning matches. Treat it like your tennis bible! It will only work if you can play a decent game of tennis. The better you play with your strokes, the more you can get out of this book. 5 stars (great book) - Somebody here said - "But if you are 3.5 or below don't bother with this book"...Man, think before you utter nonsense like this. This book is great, there are very few club players who think on the court. After reading this book, I guarantee they'll be thinking more about their game, analyzing, and getting better results. 5 stars (This is a great book!) - I had never picked up a racket before, and I found this book very helpful and easy to understand. 5 stars (great information) - It is clear, informative and very useful for the beginner or the one who has forgotten what she learned in high school phys ed. 5 stars (Excellent introduction to the world of tennis) - Actually i'm fourteen but I bought this book entering my freshman year of high school to get acquainted with the game. It really does a thorough job of introducing one to the tennis world, covering everything from gear, tennis racquets, grips, strings, and the different types of strokes (forehand, backhand, volley, lob, serve, spins), and what the strokes ARE, but does not focus on how they should be implemented during matches. Advanced tennis players will probably already know most of the info in the book, but absolutely superb for beginners. It really helped me get started with tennis and reduced a LOT of beginner's confusion (eg. what stroke is that again... which is my forehand/which is my backhand, and what they should look like, how do i score, what in the world is a volley?? really detailed information on gear, how to score, what the grand slams are, short bios on historical players, and a lot more) really, really helpful and a must read for all beginners, a good reference book for intermediate players. After attending 6 weeks of tennis camp and hard work outside of tennis camp, I got into my school's JV team, muchly thanks to this book but also thanks to the fact that we didn't have cuts this year because too many people dropped out of tryouts. ...

The Rivals- Chris Evert vs Martina Navratilova Their Epic Duels and Extraordinary Friendship

4 stars (Match Point (4.5 Stars)) - This is a well-written account of women's tennis between the years of 1971 and 1987 as told through the stories of Martina and Chrissie (no last names needed!). In those years, there really weren't any other women stars with staying power, and these two women were the face of the sport. The contrast in their childhood upbringings and off-court relationships and training practices are covered well and thankfully not in laborious detail. I would have liked to hear more from Tracy Austin, Hana Mandlikova, and other players to help balance the Martina/Chrissie rememberances, but other than that, this book is very good. 5 stars (Aces, straight sets, a winner) - For those of us old enough to remember the growth of tennis, particularly women's tennis, in the early 70's through 80's, this is an insider's walk down memory lane. Well researched, well written, and sensitive, it tells the inside story of what (and who) made the two title women tick, but also provides the necessary background for what was going on around them. Fans of women's sports,heck, sports in general, but particularly tennis, will enjoy this read. 5 stars (Best sports book I've ever read) - I thought I knew so much about Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova until I read Johnette Howard's extraordinary book. From start to finish, I couldn't put it down. The narrative is so compelling. It's not so much a biography as a wonderful story that unfolds page after page. The book is full of anecdotes that stay with you, and Howard draws detailed, insightful, often poignant portraits of Martina and Chris that go far beyond anything I've ever read about them before. Most importantly, to me, Howard excelled at putting Chrissie and Martina's rivalry in human terms. And she provides the sort of historical context that makes this not just a sports book, but a book that reads like a short cultural history of the time that Martina and Chris came along. 5 stars (simple, sound advice for anyone wishing to improve their tennis game) - This book not only improved my tennis game, it made the game infinitely more enjoyable for me. Gallwey explores the psychology of tennis, focusing on how most players hurt their game by thinking too much, and offers detailed, common-sense advice to combat that problem. You won't find a lot of specific tips like "watch the ball" and "follow through", instead you'll learn how to observe your body and your game in an enlightening way that at the very least will give you a greater appreciation for your abilities, and at most, forever change the way you play tennis - for the better. If you're looking for a book to improve your tennis game, you can't go wrong with the Inner Game of Tennis. 5 stars (How to Stop the Inner War) - I am the person for which this book is written. I started tennis late but being athletic quickly could play above my experience. Eventually I hit the wall, getting beat repeatedly and having the complete inability to be a human on the court. This book simply showed me what was really going on in my mind. And, more importantly, that it goes on in everyone's mind to some extent. Not being a philosophical person nor a follower of Eastern Spirituality, these very basic concepts were Greek to me. But they make certain logical sense. Having said all that, I'm still not sure exactly what I need to do for a complete change. I know I need to stop the Self 1 and 2 conflicts occurring in my mind and I need to concentrate on minor things like breathing rather than let my mind wander to failure. But how I will be able to apply this is still somewhat of a quandary as I am so regimented in my approach. One thing is for sure, I need to make the attempt. Overall, I recommend this book highly whether a tennis player or not to look at your activity from a totally different light.
