Microsoft Office Standard Student and Teacher Edition 2004 Macintosh

1 stars (Unstable) - I'm an undergraduate engineering student, which means I spend a lot of time 1) doing homework and 2) using my computer. During the times that those two activities coincide, I'm often writing a report or working with an Excel sheet. Before I picked up this version of Office, I had been using Office 2003 for over a year. Office 2003 crashed--a lot. Almost every time I'd use Word or Excel a crash would occur. As a result, I began to hit command-s after about every 25 keystrokes--obsessive, you might say. When I came back to school for the 2005-2006 year and upgraded to Office 2004, I had hopes that because the software was newer, it would somehow be more robust. In my opinion, it's really not. Sure, the interface is a bit cleaner and updated, but even though I'm running the most current versions of this sofware, it still doesn't work very well--crashes occur all too often. It's not the power software I had hoped it would be. As I've told my friends many times, I maintain that Microsoft produces crap for the Mac OS. You can disagree when you like, but I'll be switching to OpenOffice 2.0 when an OS X version is released. If you can get this for "free" (i.e., it's covered by tuition or something), go for it. It *IS* better than Office 2003, but not by much. 4 stars (not quite perfect) - I got the Office for Mac so as to allow me to transfer documents between machines. I would have to say that transferring data using a USB drive saves me a lot of time, although it is not entirely seamless. Some formats on Office Word 2003 are not quite the same on the Mac Office. Otherwise, Office for Mac allows me to continue using my Apple in a PC dominated workplace. As a Mac person, I wish I could say that I preferred Apple's Work products, but they are not as fast as the Microsoft Office equivalents. 5 stars (Must have software) - I purchased the student and teacher edition 2003 of microsoft office for my son who is in his first year of high school. CCNA 1 and 2 Companion Guide- Revised Cisco Networking Academy Program 3rd Edition Cisco Networ

2 stars (Poorly written) - I am using this book in a CCNA semester 1 class. Although it is by Cisco and therefore contains the information they want you to know, it is poorly written. It is as if the original text were 3 times as long, and to shorten it, they had to take out every third sentence, because it does not flow, and concepts are often only half-explained. I am *often* reading it and think "What????" (And I'm fairly certain it's not just me - I have a B.S. and M.S in Computer Science and plenty of real-world computer experience). All in all, I have to say that this is not a high-quality book. Although it's not a substitute for the CCNA material, I really like the book called "Interconnections" by Radia Perlman. 5 stars (An Excellent Companion) - Cisco seems to have made a transition from being a high performance workstation and server supplier to being a supplier of high end networking equipment. It seems like you cannot go into an Internet Service Provider without seeing at least some Cisco equipment. As such, being an authority on Cisco equipment and even more important understanding the Cisco approach to networking is a good start on employment. And the crowning achievement is the Cisco Certified Network Associate certificate. This book is a companion to the on line course. It was written by the people who wrote the exam so it covers what you need to know to pass it. ...

1 stars (buy the book, forget the CD-ROM version) - I've got the book and was hoping the CD-ROM would enhance using the book, but it doesn't. The content is very slim compared to the book, and the CAD drawings that are included are also of very limited use. Don't bother with the CD-ROM version of TSSLA. 5 stars (This book is a must!!!!) - A great book to have. It was a required text for my site technology classes. Kept referring to it. 5 stars (One of the best.) - A very informative and usefull book for all designers. 1 stars (DO NOT BUY! it's hard to imagine a more worthless book) - This book is a fiasco. As a professional in commercial space planning for many years, I picked it up based on a 'glowing review'. I find another few good ratings here on-line. The authors mother must be writing them, because no one who actually attempted to verify the faulty and incomplete information within, could ever see this tome as worth the paper upon which it is printed. 1 stars (Readers' Digest Version of AGS) - Although these editions change little, this review is based upon AGS 10th Ed. & AGSRC 2003. Negative: This is bascially a regurgitation of the more complete Architectural Graphics Standards, distilled to a "residential" focus but appears as volumous because some details have been photo-enlarged (in poor-average quality). Few, if any new residential details/information has been provided. Positive: Those ONLY interested in residential construction and NOT requiring a full brace of ALL details will find this quite a good value - compare its price to Architectural Graphics Standards. Recommendation: Anyone in construction should have one, but not both of these books as a prime resource. The content does improve every year, although some years it's like watching grass grow. Challenge: IF there are numerous portions of the Residential version that are unique and new to it, exclusive of passages in the larger AGS version - I would really appreciate a review that contains how to locate these passages, as I've spent enough time trying to find them. If enough of these exist, it would give thought of updating this resource once in awhile. 3 stars (One volume encyclopedia) - Experienced readers will benefit from its brief summaries and drawings covering the broadest range of topics imaginable. Some economizing is evident in the paper and printing quality, some of the drawings look 50 years old, but there is lots of reference information, like span tables, solar position data, etc. Probably not the last word on every topic, but still worth consulting. 5 stars (A wonderful resource) - Following in the terrific legacy of the benchmark Architectural Graphic Standards book, this edition clearly makes building for residences an easier task. 5 stars (A good handbook for interior details!) - The day I received the Interior Graphic Standards , I used some of the details in the book for a project I was working on. This book provides information, including construction details, which are very useful to the practicing architect and interior designer. 5 stars (Bible of Interior Design~!) - I'm an Interior Design student at Ryerson University in Toronto, and I have never seen a book that is as comprehensive as the IGS. It covers almost everything. I've used this book as a reference for almost every school project I've done. My professor strongly recommended this book to us, but at first I was hesitated to buy it because of the price. However I found it cheaper to buy online than in retail bookstores. I told my classmates about it and showed them the book, after they've seen it they said they are all gonna buy it. Overall this book is worth its price and I strongly recommend it~! 5 stars (Most Comprehensive and Remarkable Book for the Industry) - This book is a remarkable achievement, from cover to cover! A must buy for anyone in the industry (or anyone interested in the industry)!!! I have been a practicing Interior Designer for eighteen years and I have yet to see anything as comprehensive and remarkable as this book! Even the Architectural Graphic Standards book pales by comparison! There is a section on Wood Veneers and Flooring with (12) pages of beatiful and informative color plates! There is even a Color Theory (color plate) section that is very useful! There is so much useful information and reference in this book, that any Designer or Architect should have it close by and keep a watchful eye on it, so that colleagues do not borrow it indefinitely!! ...
