5 stars (Great Method) - I am enjoying both the book and the 8 CDs found in this course. Very effective method! Really gets you speaking Spanish quickly and without the hassle. Book is great too. Easy to read, follows the CDs and has a word for word tapescript at the back. Biggest Plus: Easy and Fast 4 stars (Conversational Spanish In Nothing Flat (Frobose)) - Easy to use -- have found a couple of errors in English-to-Spanish words, but no big deal. It is somewhat difficult to use the book in conjunction w/ the recording, because the book has no real format. Took me a while to realize the "almost verbatim" words on the tape are where an index usually is. Otherwise -- pretty decent method of learning to converse! 5 stars (My Personal Experience with Conversational Spanish in Nothing Flat) - In my opinion, no "single" language tool (a book for example) will make you completely proficient in a particular language. The key is to sellect various well crafted tools with different approaches. This gives you a more well-rounded view of your subject. Conversational Spanish in Nothing Flat will not by itself make you fluent but it adds "an important piece" to your developing knowledge and it does this very well by touching all bases and giving you lots of fun quizzes where new things are introduced and earlier lessons are reinforced again again. ...

Mosaicos- Spanish as a World Language with CD-ROM 3rd Edition

1 stars (Mosaicos Spanish) - Worst book I have ever used to learn a language. Who ever wrote the book was into a lot more than teaching. You need to use this disc or that disc or use the internet. The Prenhall is not very user friendly either. The book is very confusing. 5 stars (Lovely) - This is everything I could have hoped for in a foreign language textbook; it is an instructor's dream. Now...if they only designed a text of equal quality for Portuguese! 4 stars (Mosaicos: Spanish as a World Language) - Mosaicos is a complete and well-written language program. The material in the textbook is presented logically and in a practical manner. Additionally, the workbook, audiocassettes, and lab manual reinforce the textbook lessons while improving interpretation skills. The benefits of having various, native Spanish speakers on the lab cassettes are immeasurable. I found this package set to be not only effective but also enjoyable. ...

5 stars (Great Product and Packaging) - My Behind the Wheel course is the best I have yet tried. My course arrived shrink-wrapped in a nice vinyl album with a very nice book. No complaints. Delighted with the course overall. 3 stars (Needs better packaging) - Good product in general. My biggest issue is that the packaging is so bad that each time it was sent to me the cds had fallen out of their place in the container and got scratched up. 5 stars (UnMatched ! Head and Shoulders Above Other Spanish Audio Courses!) - I have checked out your Behind the Wheel course and the superiority and clarity was evident immediately. Very nicely organized and not littered with a bunch of grammatical terminology and categorization that bogs a learner down. The illustrated easy-to-comprehend text was definitely a plus and one that I really needed. Congratulations to Language Dynamics for doing such an excellent job putting together such an effective product. Destinos- An Introduction to Spanish Student Edition

5 stars (muy excelente para todos quien quieren aprender el idioma!) - (translation of title: Very excellent for everyone who wants to learn the language!) I cannot emphasize enough how beneficial the Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish series is for those who want to learn Spanish, or become more familiar with the language. This was used in a course I took at college, and it felt like we were all travelling along with the main character, Raquel, a lawyer who travels from her home in Los Angeles, to Mexico, Spain, Argentina and Puerto Rico, as part of her work with her clients, a family living in an estate in Mexico City. The format of this program is styled after the Latin American "novelas" (soap operas). In other words, you will need to carefully watch each episode, to keep up with plot details. But, not to worry, because Raquel reviews what happened with you, at the end of every episode. Each episode is entirely in Spanish, and it gets you thinking in the language, comprehending what is going on very quickly, as well as picking up interesting information specific to the cultures she is immersed in, during her travels. We learn about art, music, dance, food and slang. (Slang is also a very valuable thing to know about, when travelling in Spanish-speaking countries. Words that are acceptable in one country could get you shot in another country---this isn't addressed in the episodes, but that is really important to be aware of) I am pleased to say that the series is entertaining, educational and very beneficial to students. It makes you WANT to learn, and also, in spite of the melodrama, you will want to stick it out to the last episode to see how things turn out. 5 stars ("501" -- !Es necesario!) - Recommended by our excellent Spanish professor (a native speaker), "501 Spanish Verbs" is a "must have" for serious students of Spanish who want to move quickly to learn and expand vocabulary. 4 stars (Spanish 501) - This book is a helpful guide and tool for anyone learning spanish on their own or in a college classroom. 5 stars (A MUST for the Spanish student!) - My son is currently in Bolivia, South America, and requested this book after seeing it at a North American friend's house. He was learning the language, but having trouble with the past tense of the language. I ordered the book, mailed it to him, and now he's learning so much faster. He says he doesn't know how anyone learning the language could do so without this book! The book came to us quickly, so we were able to get it off to him within days of his request - Thanks! ...

Spanish in 10 Minutes a Day 10 Minutes a Day

3 stars (Good for a traveler, Not for a class) - I began using this as text for a class of mine, but quickly only used it as a supplement. You are to simply copy the words and say them in 10 minutes each day. It's a great theory, but very difficult to absorb any language through this method. The vocabulary is bent toward the traveler - what to pack, where's the restaurant, I'd like to order, that type of phrasing. The color pictures make it seem like it might be aimed at a younger crowd, but the exercises were a bit stale for anyone under high school age. Overall, this is a good crash course if you're about to leave for a week's vacation in a Spanish-speaking country. To learn how to truly communicate in Spanish, you need something more thorough on grammar points and practice. The fact that no CD comes with it also makes pronunciation a concern for the novice learner. For the much younger child, Flip Flop Spanish is a great tool which comes with a CD. 3 stars (Could have been good) - This is a way for people to learn spanish fast but the book goes through things very quickly so you will find that you either don't understand or forget thing easily. I only suggest this book to someone how just wants to travel to a country that speaks spanish for a week but not for people who are truly interested in learning to speak spanish fleuntly at a good level. 2 stars (Useful for Some; But Not the Best) - I found this book to be useful at first, but I later changed to "Spanish Made Simple" (Jackson, Rubio revised by Nemethy; make sure you get the 2004 edition). The latter book is not nearly as "simplified" as "Spanish in 10 Minutes", but I found the more methodical approach, reviews, and review tests to be more conducive to study. Make sure you also get some means of audio instruction to get the pronouciation right. I used the Pimsleur CD's which are very expensive but easily the best. (Look for them in your library first.) ...
