Wounded Heart- A Companion Workbook for Personal or Group Use

5 stars (Great resource for helping!) - This book and the accompanying workbook are great resources for the support groups I have led for the past 5 years now. There are many women whose lives have been changed as a result, including my own. 5 stars (Brought great healing) - Last year, I worked my way through the book and study guide. When I first began reading the book, I wanted to throw it across the room, and was angry that the author would even insinuate that I was sinning. Well, he was right. I was so filled with self-contempt and rage, and so chained up in the prison of abuse, that I would almost rather rail at him and run, than admit that I was existing in a state that was eating me up, inside and out. I had been holding myself separate from God, not allowing Him to bring healing for the past horrors in my life, dead from the numbness I had created to protect myself from pain. Through this study, and the pain, tears and difficult struggles that accompanied it, great healing has been taking place in my life. I am thankful for Dr. Allender's obedience in writing this study, and I am grateful to our Lord for using it to begin my journey of restoration and healing. I can highly recommend this book to someone who is tired of living a life behind the prison walls of childhood sexual abuse, someone who is willing to go through the pain of 'looking at' the abuse one last time and grieving for the child that was destroyed inside himself/herself. If you are willing to finally lay all of the pain and hurt and shame and rage down on God's altar, this book may be what you are looking for. 5 stars (Diagnosing and Treating the Wounded Heart) - "The Wounded Heart" is a classic text on the understanding and treatment of the sexual abuse victim. Dan Allender writes from a foundation of biblical insight, psychological research, and counseling experience. Allender is quick to defend abuse victims and to help them to understand that they were not guilty for their abuse....

The Power of Now- A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

5 stars (Magical...and advanced!!) - This book is not for everyone...it is very advanced even though there are reviews that say it's dull and repetitive...don't read with the mind...listen with the being! He is a great spiritual teacher.. One of the very best. I have read many spiritual books and feel that I'm half way there...I totally understood the book from beginning to end. It's very simple and clear...so effective..it is my bible. But don't get confused...Eckart Tolle is telling you all the things you already know, but your mind refuses to accept! Remember, you are NOT your mind, you never were. I'd like to recommend a wonderful bit of writing from Ken Wilber entitled 'From here to infinity in 3 pages...' I think that's the title. He really is advanced..very technical, but he explains also about being! Well done to a brilliant writer. He is not talking from the ego, but from his being...to your being...and it's real, when you let it be. Don't try to understand it, LIVE IT! 5 stars (Transformative Audio-Book) - I listened to the audio version of this book over a one week period, mostly as I was driving around. It had a profound effect on my life. I have practiced and taught meditation for many years, and a few times at retreats I have entered what are called ecstatic spiritual states. Listening to this recording brought me back to those states each time. If they were written the words he is speaking might or might not have that power. I have never read the typed version, so I don't know if it is the writing itself. But I cannot justify removing even one star from my rating of this item. There is simply nothing to fault it for when it delivers more than what one reasonably expects to get out of a book. The book will give you an experience of what he is talking about. A must for people who feel that the body has the power to heal itself from inside and are tied of the medical professions inadequacies. 5 stars (A therapy that works) - I am a Medical Doctor of Ecuador and I`ve been using the method for a few months and it really works in the percentages that Dr Callahan mentions in his book. It is a self help book, I think that the reason why some of the people who mention that the method didn't work on them was that in some cases the help of a professional trained in the method is required. Most of the time you can practice in your own home, but other times you really need help, the acupressure points need to be tapped in the rigth spot, if you tapp a little far away you are not producing the effect that you need. So give a try, if it is not effective look for someone trained in the method. They are simple, profound, and effective IF USED PROPERLY. Roger Callahan is the "godfather" of EFT, and Energy Medicine in general. One of the primary steps to using this effectively for yourself is to keep your mind steadily focused on the issue you are attempting to heal. Since most of us have trouble with this type of "one pointed" focus (our minds can bounce around at lightening speed!), we may have trouble getting results, and consider this a failure. It isn't! As a suggestion to the person with the blushing problem...a focus on the "feeling" that comes before the actual blushing would most likely work. There is a bit of "weirdness' to it, but since I'm a bit weird myself, I kind of like it. However, the book is woefully short on practical instruction on how to change your false belief thinking into spiritual truths. I don't disagree with what he has to say. This Bible deserves more thatn a five-star rating. 5 stars (Nothing Short of God's Miracle (INFINITY STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!)) - This Bible gives the Word of God to those going through recovery in a translation that is easily applicable to today's readers' lifes and is easily read and understood by those who read it. It also supplies readers with all the footnotes used in the translation. But what makes this Bible stand out from any others is the amount of devotional material it contains. Each of the 66 books has reflections on recovery at the beginning and then end of the book. Also, it contains footnotes with recovery reflections on almost every passage of scripture imaginable! The Bible gives readers 84 12 step devotionals, as well as numerous devotionals on the 8 principles of recovery (the beattitudes) and the serenity prayer. It has an abundant index of topical references that anyone could use. 4 stars (Excellent!) - Although I have not tried the CD version, I have the downloaded version. You just download it and you can work it without using any cd roms or anything. Its such a GREAT program. You get to pick and create your ringtones from any song and at ANYPOINT! Instead of paying $2 for every ringtone and they dont even start it at the point you like it. (IE Cingular and T-Mobile) I found this item the best ringtone maker Ive ever used. But one thing that would make this product better is if we could use a USB cable to import the songs instead of thru text messages and then you wouldnt be using up those. But others wise get this product if you want to customize your own ringtones. Roxio Boom Box - Essential Software for your iPod Mac

5 stars (Great bunch of apps at the right price) - I was pretty excited as soon as I heard about this product and got it right away. Audio Hijack - works perfectly as advertised. I've been using this to record music from VH1.com to fill my library and I figured out also how to use it to record the soundtrack from music DVDs and from iTunes. It's brain dead easy to use and the quality is good. MusicMixer - after a pretty lengthy amount of time it had scanned my library. I have about 5000 songs and it took over 4 days. But it was worth the wait - it definitely makes some smart choices and groups songs that sound good together. Spin Doctor - I haven't tried this one yet - but my father has a bunch of stuff he's hounding me to try it out with. Seems like a good addition. iPodder - I like this one. Fits really well with iTunes and there's a ton of interesting stuff to fill my commute time now. Speech software - I don't really have a need for this one and the voices are a bit corny - although there's a coupon on the disc for better voices from another company. All in all I'm happy with this purchase. Unlike the previous reviewer who seems to have a personal vendetta against the music industry I'll focus on this product. Roxio certainly does not hide that these are products that have been available for a while from other developers - what Roxio brings together is 5 great apps for the right price. The Mixer is $30 by itself. AudioHijack is $16. iPodder is $24. Speech is $16. None of them are free - contrary to what the previous reviewer says. If you bought them all separetly you'd spend alot more - so even if you only use a few of the apps you're coming out ahead. Ignore the crazies and focus on the software and you won't be disappointed. 5 stars (Great Fun and Helpful Product) - I thought this was a really solid piece of software. It taught me alot of things that I needed to know about singing. I am not a professional and could not afford vocal lessons so this really was a HUGE help. The ability to sing a wide range of songs made it even more useful. Being able to see my pitch helped teach me what types of songs are good for me to sing. From what I have seen so far the music library is growing every week with better and better songs. If they keep adding songs like this there really is no limit what I can do with the software. 3 stars (Good for the beginner, but not much more.) - This program has quirky characters that teach you the basics of singing, such as breathing, posture and warm ups. Being able to see what pitch you are hitting helps a lot to strengthen the beginning singer. The reason I gave this only 3 stars, however, is that once you are done with the basics, the only thing that the program can give you is you pitch history while singing one of the songs. While this is a useful information, there isn't a wide enough varity in songs to make using this feature terribly fun and there aren't lessons to encourage you to work through the songs in a specific order. I was also quite disappointed with their online song library. This version comes with 4 free songs to down load from their song library, and I only found two that I was even willing to sing and have a vague liking for. None of my favorite songs were there. The lists of songs were quite small. They also, beyond the 4 free songs, want to charge what I think is an outragous charge per song. Get this if you are a rank beginner or need help with your pitch and are happy practicing on public domain folk songs.
