2 stars (Just call me a Fool) - I don't know why, but I ended up purchasing both Nero 7 and Creator 8.0 At first it was because Nero 7 had so many problems out the door. I normally prefer Nero, as I have Nero 5, but after all the trouble, I forked out more money for Roxio, even though I had problems with it in the past. At first I was surprised, with all the new feature. Though to be honest, most of the new features were already in Nero 6, but I never had Nero 6. :-) But then when it came to actually using the Roxio software, I started having flashbacks to Creator 4 and 5 that were just nightmares. And which Roxio never properly fixed, and when they did fix it they charged me for it. That's why I went to Nero 5 to begin with. After trying to get Roxio support to help me resolve the issue, which they were never able to do and kept saying the problem was with my computer, I gave up. Well, to be honest Nero came out with an update to Nero 7 so I thought I would give them another try. And I'm glad I did, as they did resolve almost all the issues they were having, though they still have few to resolve. But this brings back my faith in Nero. Now lets see how long Roxio takes to resolve their issues. John 5 stars (Excellent Features) - This software hasn an astonishing array of features. In this version they have achieved the seemingly contradictory goal of making things both easier to use & richer in terms of features. For ex. slide show creation can't be easier via the wizard but at the end of the wizard if you want to tweak the slide show more, you can click a button to export it to another applicaiton to edit to your heart's content. They do this disc labels, DVDs, music discks photo projects and probably other areas. I've seen nothing like it elsewhere. 5 stars (Unbelievable customer service) - Roxio EMC 8 was the stem of all my issues with the drive read errors and system hanging during shutdown. Roxio Toast 7 Titanium Mac

5 stars (Roxio Toast 7 Titanium (MAC)) - This is a great product, has some nice new features like making a Music CD, CD-Text. 4 stars (much needed improvement) - After using Toast 5 & 6 for a while I received version 7 with great anticipation. Installation is as easy as it gets, and the interface (while hardly changed form v6) is intuitive. One of the best enhancements I've encountered so far is the use of hybrid discs. In the past, the only option was "Custom Hybrid", which didn't always work. This option still exists, but the new, simpler hybrid Mac/PC format (while giving slightly less custom options on the Mac side) is finally dead simple - choose the files you want and designate if they should be burned for Mac, PC or both by using checkboxes. Other new features include improved DVD burning and backing up many files or one large file over several discs, while still being able to acess them one by one. The price is not too bad and a $20 rebate is available for previous owners. I recommend it. 5 stars (For video-philes!) - Quite simply, there's no other single program out there that will do so much. Here's just one example to add to those mentioned by other customers. It's great to be able to combine movie titles from DVD backups( from saved TS folders on my harddrive ), multiple iMovie projects, DivX and original DV footage on one disc. Then, I saved the whole as an oversized disc image and use DVD compression to fit it onto a single DVD! The program offers a choice of several menu themes that are artistic and easy to navigate. Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 5 10th Anniversary Edition

5 stars (Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 review) - This is a very simple program to use & has many nice features. I'm mainly using it to make picture videos & it does a good job at it. 4 stars (One of the better consumer Video Editing/DVD Authoring solutions) - I am suprised to see so many people trash this suite so quickly. I never use it for burning CDs/DVDs/Audio player (Nero, Winamp anyone?), but a combination of Roxio Capture, Videowave Professional and DVD Builder is really good for camcorder DV->DVD video editing and conversion. Features include support for still images, videos of differing resolutions/specs, video effects, overlays, text overlays, etc. you name it. Pinnacle Studio 9 is still a notch better in terms of features (the only feature that this suite doesn't seem to have - manipulation of audio volume of video tracks in the timeline), but its wickedly unstable and gets my Oscar for the most crash friendly program. Call it my uncanny luck, but Studio used to corrupt my projects just after I spend hours editing the video and done with it making me start all over again. I was looking for a stable alternative and this suite has saved my day. 1 stars (Extremely Unstable Program) - After spending 6 weeks capturing and editing a video, which the program did well, the burning process is extremely unstable. It will burn the video to a DVD-RW (rewrightable) disk but not to a non rewritable disk. I have tried 4 different manufacturers DVD disk and after 2 1/2 hours it takes to burn, I get error messages on every one and the disks will not play. I have wasted time and disks (they are unusable after the burning) to get no results. I have spent hours with Roxio's direct email support and with phone support and get "this is most unusual" but no solutions. I have deleted and reinstalled the program 3 times, as suggested by tech support, and still get the same results. I have sent for a back up disk as support also suggested that the original disk may be faulty....

4 stars (Excellent!) - Although I have not tried the CD version, I have the downloaded version. You just download it and you can work it without using any cd roms or anything. Its such a GREAT program. You get to pick and create your ringtones from any song and at ANYPOINT! Instead of paying $2 for every ringtone and they dont even start it at the point you like it. (IE Cingular and T-Mobile) I found this item the best ringtone maker Ive ever used. But one thing that would make this product better is if we could use a USB cable to import the songs instead of thru text messages and then you wouldnt be using up those. But others wise get this product if you want to customize your own ringtones. Roxio Easy CD - DVD Burning

1 stars (Not good with XP) - Installing this program on a computer running Windows XP a HUGE problem. After installing Window gives the message that the software will cause Windows to become unstable, and that Windows prevented the drivers from loading. Then sends you to Roxio website for patch. The patch did not work, and their support service provides a resolution that involves editing your computer's Registry, a task I do not want to attempt. By the way, the only way you can speak to a live person is to pay $35 per hour, more than I paid for the program itself. Totally frustrating software for XP. 5 stars (Just right -- if you want simple & unadorned CD/DVD functions) - I've seen the reviews by others, and concur that the software lacks the bells and whistles of the newer full Roxio product (ver 7). BUT ... if you're looking for some simple features that don't hog a lot of drive space or CPU cycles, this earlier product (ver 6) fits the bill. I've been looking for a simple packet-writing program to drag-and-drop files for archiving or transfer between systems [your old floppy 'sneakernet'], and it's just right for that simple task. Window's XP file transfer is just miserable, as it treats a document like graphics material, storing it to disk, then writing track-by-track with balloons and other distractions. This package lets you format and write/delete to RW discs without hassle. Better yet, in "Custom" installation you can pick and choose the functions you need, and forget about the fancy 'Control Center'. 1 stars (why???) - why oh why did i buy this. that was really stupid. if you want a program that crashes your computer everytime you try copying something then this is perfect for you. if you just want to back up dvds that you have in your collection then i recommend dvd cloner 2 which you have to download, but it has the decoder. i wish i would have found that program before i found this stupid thing over at an electronic store. the box should have said BEWARE, THIS PRODUCT IS CRAP AND WE WILL RIP YOU OFF! 1 stars (A scam) - About the worst product I have ever purchased for my computer. I wish I'd read some reviews first. It basically locks up in Windows XP when you insert a commercial DVD. Not only that, but you cannot kill it through the Task Manager (if you run Task Manager before starting Easy DVD Copy) - and even worse, you cannot invoke Task Manager after starting Easy DVD Copy and it locks up. You cannot even shut down or reboot at this point. You have to pull out the power cord from your computer to get Roxio to stop running. So, this is about the most inexorably invasive non-functioning program I've ever run on XP. The only DVD I could copy was the DVD the program was distributed on. Roxio Boom Box - Essential Software for your iPod Mac

5 stars (Great bunch of apps at the right price) - I was pretty excited as soon as I heard about this product and got it right away. Audio Hijack - works perfectly as advertised. I've been using this to record music from VH1.com to fill my library and I figured out also how to use it to record the soundtrack from music DVDs and from iTunes. It's brain dead easy to use and the quality is good. MusicMixer - after a pretty lengthy amount of time it had scanned my library. I have about 5000 songs and it took over 4 days. But it was worth the wait - it definitely makes some smart choices and groups songs that sound good together. Spin Doctor - I haven't tried this one yet - but my father has a bunch of stuff he's hounding me to try it out with. Seems like a good addition. iPodder - I like this one. Fits really well with iTunes and there's a ton of interesting stuff to fill my commute time now. Speech software - I don't really have a need for this one and the voices are a bit corny - although there's a coupon on the disc for better voices from another company. All in all I'm happy with this purchase. Unlike the previous reviewer who seems to have a personal vendetta against the music industry I'll focus on this product. Roxio certainly does not hide that these are products that have been available for a while from other developers - what Roxio brings together is 5 great apps for the right price. The Mixer is $30 by itself. AudioHijack is $16. iPodder is $24. Speech is $16. None of them are free - contrary to what the previous reviewer says. If you bought them all separetly you'd spend alot more - so even if you only use a few of the apps you're coming out ahead. Ignore the crazies and focus on the software and you won't be disappointed. 1 stars (Horrible) - I was a big fan, starting with MGI PhotoSuite 3, then very happy with version 4. I got version 5, the first one released under Roxio, and it basically had only cosmetic differences from 4. I assumed version 7 would be a nice upgrade, and there was a $15 rebate off the $29.99 price, so I bought it. What a horrible mistake! PS 7 Platinum takes forever to install (~30 minutes!), as if the CD is defective or something. Then, the install says you have to reboot; my Win XP refused to boot again. I had to recovery back. I tried again; again it corrupted the registry. Roxio tech support is unresponsive. So it is basically unusable software. I guess this is one way Roxio can try and force PS users to upgrade to Easy Media Creator. My advice is DO NOT upgrade to 7 if you are an existing PS4 or 5 user. If you don't already have PS, and want a low-end, easy to use photo editing tool, get PS version 4 or 5 as copies of these versions are still available dirt cheap from software liquidator sites (just do a Google on PhotoSuite to find them). 1 stars (Don't buy this) - The software is not that great. I also had a mail in rebate for this software ($15) - The request was recieved on December 12 and I am yet to recieve the rebate. VideoWave 7 Professional

1 stars (Don't Waste your Time or $$$) - I have used the old Version Videowave 5. I made several productions with it and burned them on to a DVD. There were some problems, but not many, and the DVD's worked. I upgraded to Videowave 7 thinking it would work just as well. Well, Videowave 7 has many nice features, and in some ways is easer to use than Videowave 5. However, the program is loaded with bugs or bad code. It just does not work correctly. Support for this program is worthless. So, save your time and $$ and buy something else. 1 stars (This program is terrible!!!) - I thought this program was great for about an hour. I left it alone overnight to burn because it was taking FOREVER to burn a DVD, and my otherwise perfect computer died inexplicably in the middle of the night. After 200 dollars to replace my motherboard and a huge fried hard drive, I have reinstalled not thinking it had anything to do with this program. Now my computer is "fixed" and it has crashed after this program froze for the 50th time. DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM!!!! I don't know if this is what fried my hard drive or not, but I can sympathize with the others who say it has made their computer unresponsive, I am trying to uninstall as we speak, however, my computer will not even boot up at this point! In addition, it is very easy to use, but if you have any skills in video editing, don't waste your time, the audio options are very primitive, you cannot even edit audio in the menu. Roxio Popcorn Mac

5 stars (Popcorn is the best!) - This software was obviosly checked and rechecked before it was released because I've used it over and over and have not run into a glitch of any kind yet. I had an early version of Nero on my PC and it spit out as many bad burns as good ones. Since I've began using Popcorn product I've never had a bad burn or an error. Toast With Jam 6 Mac

4 stars (Toast with Jam) - Have only started to use it but so far... I have had problems and will now have to consult their manual to see if its fixable... Operating the program intuitively and from experience from past versions, I was disappointed to see the first CD I burned which should have contained about 18 songs did NOT record several tracks.. could be my fault but I didn't do anything differently to the tracks which did record as opposed to the tracks that didn't record but did take up space on the burned CD.. back to the drawing board.. 1 stars (NO Customer Support and Required Registration) - I bought the product from Amazon. After installing this product, I tried to install the updates only to find out that I have to register the product in order to install their bug fixes. So after typing in their long registration code, it wouldn't accept it because it said it was for Toast and not for Toast with Jam. The box had not code for Toast with Jam, only one for Toast and one for Jam. There is no technical support. No apparent way to e-mail them for technical support. If there is a way, they have hidden it very well. I can't get past the installation procedure problems to even give an evaluation of how well it works. I regret buying this this single purchase and will not be buying it for all the computers in my lab. I'm just glad I bought just one to find this out beforehand. When you use Roxio's product, you will be left on your own. 4 stars (The DVD Music Album alone is worth the high price...) - The DVD Music Album feature has allowed me to start consolidating all of my live recordings onto DVDs. I've burned two so far, one with 8 CDs and one with about a dozen or so CDs. The only reason I did not give the full five stars is that I've had two DVDs "coastered" during a failed burn. Toast 6 Titanium

4 stars (Great Product) - I am using Toast 6 for Mac to convert my vinyl to digital format. After trying other products, I bought this for the CD Spin Doctor program. It is easy to use and the editing features work very well. Vinyl conversion is a labor of love - the process is slow, but the end results with CD Spin Doctor are excellent. The program gives you the flexibility to break the recording into separate tracks and to name each one. The tracks can then be imported into iTunes and converted to MP3 (the steps are posted on the Apple website). One flaw - if you cut an album into tracks, they play in alphabetical order, not in the order they were recorded. (Commerically digitized tracks have hidden tags so the songs play in the order they were placed on the CD). The only knock is that the program crashes on a fairly regular basis. I find, for best results, the entire computer needs to be rebooted frequently, which is VERY uncharacteristic for a Mac. 5 stars (Discus 3.0.4 upgrade Label/Jewel Case Software is Tops) - I own Toast 6 with two upgrades. (6.0.5) Using OS X 3.4 I needed a software update for my LaCie Burner. The Technical Help is quick and fast at Toast/Roxio. They told me to download it and gave me the link. Last night I Toasted some CD-ROM's for training Case Managers. I burned Six CD and Printed Labels and Jewel Case Inserts and Tray liner in a half hour. The extra $20 to upgrade to Discus 3.0.4 is well worth the Time and Money. (Newer Software and Full artwork) Real Pro looking Artwork and Label from a great Library. You can use any brand of Paper (Avery, Neato, Memorex etc.) and even nudge 0.5 mm adjustment if necessary. Memorex tray liners got an adjustment and it work for all futures use of that paper. This software lets you import for iTunes and Toast what you are Toasting for a list of software or Song Lists etc. Software so easy, I did NOT read the directions. 1 stars (You get what you pay for. . . .or maybe not. . .) - I purchased this software as a clearance item from a major national office supply store. As said by an earlier reviewer, I should have read the reviews here first. Fortunately, this program has not damaged my computer, at least not that I'm aware of. Why? Because the lousy thing won't even install! I have made numerous attempts to install, using the 'full', 'typical' and 'custom' configurations, all to no avail. Each attempt to install ends with an error message saying that the function has been terminated. The program then backs out the data it had written. Doesn't matter what price you find this clunker at, it's a waste of money. 2 stars (has no support for dual-layer discs!) - i've been using roxio products for many many years. for me, they've installed and been VERY useful. but appears roxio's latest version isn't really up to date at all - they appear to be selling a version without dual-layer disc support. i'd wait until they release a version that does. this version is essentially obsolete. 1 stars ("thanks roxio for messing my computer up") - Software Horrible..Had to re-install Drives..and thank god for speaker phone was on hold forever.
