The South Beach Diet Cookbook- More than 200 Delicious Recipes That Fit the Nation-s Top Diet

4 stars (Good recipes for South Beach diet) - This book gives you other options that fit with all phases of the south beach diet. 5 stars (Eating Thin and Healthy Can Be Beautiful and Tasty!) - You will only be interested in this cookbook if you are a committed follower of The South Beach Diet. If you are an Atkins freak, go elsewhere! I lost 50 pounds on the South Beach Diet. To me, that accomplishment was less impressive than the fact that I couldn't lose weight on any diet before I tried this one. I think I had become insulin resistant, and everything I ate turned to fat . . . even when my calorie count was low. I found the diet appealing for some other reasons. First, I already ate a low fat diet and felt comfortable doing that. So I didn't have to change that part of my healthy eating. In fact, I was also being sure that I got "good" fats like omega-3 fatty acids from eating fish. Second, I could still eat carbs . . . I just had to avoid the ones that turn into instant blood sugar. Third, Dr. Agatston also introduced some new staples into my diet that I enjoy such as low-fat cheese snacks, having a few salty almonds, and eating steaming bowls of old-fashioned oatmeal. Fourth, and here's where the cookbook comes in, he introduced to me the idea of tasty, healthy ingredients I can use to spruce up simple foods. As a result, my cupboard has about twice as many spices as before (I love to put cinnamon on almost everything!) and my refrigerator has lots of new kinds of vegetables and fruits that I stir into all kinds of dishes. Suddenly, the ordinary becomes special and interesting! In this cookbook, Dr. Agatston once again calls on top chefs to show you how to make delicious, healthy dishes. Most recipes have fewer than 10 ingredients, and you probably already have most of them. The preparation and assembly are pretty straightforward. Even I can do these recipes! Each one also comes with nutritional descriptions of calories, saturated fat, protein,...

Body for Life for Women- A Woman-s Plan for Physical and Mental Transformation

4 stars (A real tool for attaining health and fitness for life) - Body for Life for Women should be considered an essential guide for women's preventive heath. Because it is focused specifically on the unique health and fitness needs and problems encountered by women, it is much more valuable for women than general health or diet texts. While it promotes a plan of "12 weeks to a fabulous body"; to see it as a mere diet or fitness book sells short its real value. A diet book may help us (temporarily) lose a few pounds; this book aims to show us how to create a healthy body in which we can live independently throughout our lives. As a spokesperson on health, Dr. Peeke is the real thing. She is an expert on the most current understanding of nutrition, preventive health and women's issues. The book is well written, inspiring and accessible. It gives women, especially those of us over 40, real hope and guidance as we wonder why "what we have always done" to stay fit is not working any more. I found especially interesting the section on life milestones, which describes a woman's health priorities at each stage of life. The mind principles, which urge us to examine the attitudes that shape our behavior, are a wake-up call. Dr. Peeke is a big fan of the Nike slogan "Just Do It". In this book, she tells us exactly what it is that we must just do and provides the tools and motivation to keep doing it. 5 stars (You won't believe it!) - I have completed my 12 week program and am astounded by the results. I'm 53 and a dancer but I never thought my body would return to this level of fitness. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I don't intend to stop my regimen because I feel so good and the weight keeps coming off. I've already added almost six pounds to my muscle mass and my fat percentage is now 23.8%. Lory Reyes 5 stars (Set for success) - Will "Body for Life for Women" be as successful as the original "Body for Life" by Bill Philips? At the moment we don't know, bu...

The Abs Diet Eat Right Every Time Guide

4 stars (I was not disappointed) - The book is a quick reference guide that I thought was pretty good for helping with the grocery shopping and as a dining out guide. The author thinks he is funny and sometimes he is. Overall not a bad book, it will hand walk a person through eating right steps. 5 stars (Good book with helpful food combinations) - A great book, mainly about food and food types that are best. I found it informative, and epsecially enjoyed the fast food/restaraunt breakdowns 4 stars (handy and informative) - This book is handy for those times that you want to eat right but aren't sure what is right. It outlines everything so you don't even have to think about it. ...

The Abs Diet- The Six-Week Plan to Flatten Your Stomach and Keep You Lean for Life

4 stars (Worth reading, food plan needs work) - I am a 38 year old woman who is looking to lose about 20 lbs and tone up a bit. My middle area has expanded a bit in the past year and it is my mission to trim it back before I hit 40. The thing that attracted me to the health lifestyle outlined in Mr. Zinczenko's book was the stress on increasing one's metabolism. The food plan also was appealing as it incorporated many of the foods I already eat. I just needed to get some "organization" in how to eat them in order to achieve the results I was looking for. This is not a typical "high protein" diet. He stresses the importance (it's imperative, really) of eating whole grains instead of white flour and trans-fats. Fiber is essential to the mechanics of the body as it was designed. Caloric intake is not an issue in this book but I really disagree with that. Maybe he is saying that at first, one shouldn't count calories, instead, eat 3 smaller meals a day and at least two snacks, timed so that one never gets "hungry". Maybe this works when your metabolism is already jump-started, but for me, I can't eat snacks when I'm not hungry. I am the type of person who really doesn't like eating that much anyway so I guess I tend to eat more at a meal so that I "get it over with". This is proving to be the biggest struggle for me with this diet. I don't want to have to think too hard about "when it's time to eat" or "Oh gosh, I forgot my afternoon snack, there goes my metabolism". The book HAS taught me a lot though about foods I didn't know and the effect on the human body. The whole "eat fat, get fat" thing has always been confusing so it's nice to see the breakdown of "good fat, vs. bad fat". Also, I learned a lot about the nasty High Fructose Corn Syrup additive that is in EVERYTHING! After learning about it I went through my cupboards and refrigerator and was amazed at the amount of products that contains HFCS. I tossed everything that contains it. Even ...

Square Foot Gardening

4 stars (An excellent source book) - An excellent source book for the gardener. Clear instructions and excellent advise on garden planting and continuing care. Makes good use of garden space. Container gardeners need to adapt to their individual situations. 3 stars (Pretty detailed information, ought to be good for expert or novice) - Lots of information here on all aspects of gardening, layout, types of plants to use, maybe everything for the novice. I found the diagrams to be of more value than the photograph selection, you've got some of both giving details on every aspect of gardening from soil perparation to putting up your harvest. You'll find charts and diagrams for planting, watering, plant support, just about anything. There are even recipes and other tips for some of the things you might find yourself growing. About the only thing I could really find to complain about is the lack of any sort of watermelon information, muskmelons/ cantalopes were mentioned- why not some variety of watermelon? 5 stars (Simply a Great Gardening Book) - 55 Reviewers pretty much say it all, but I just had to add to the applause. I have used this book as a reference for over 20 years, and have used Mel's methods in the sands of Florida, the gumbo of Texas, and now the 'barely there' soil of Northern Virginia. And what have I gotten... production and ease! Based in part on the French Intensive method of gardening, you pretty much can avoid the inherent soil problems of where you live and grow veggies and flowers with little weeding and grunting. Ideas in this book include: How to prepare the soil (fertilizers, conditioners) How to put together raised beds and other support structures if you want them A guide for popular vegetables -- how and when to plant them, including how to start seeds -- the what-fors of watering -- common pest and disease problems In my opinion this easy to read book is a gardening staple good for all levels of experience. ...

Perennial Combinations- Stunning Combinations That Make Your Garden Look Fantastic Right from the St

5 stars (Still a star) - PERENNIAL COMBINATIONS by Colston Burrell is another practical and increasingly beautiful Rodale publication (remember those older Rodale volumes printed on coarse pulp paper?). Although this book was published several years ago, it is still a mega-star as far as I am concerned--printed on slick glossy paper and filled with beautiful and clear photographs. The combinations I used worked for me then and they work now in my more mature garden. Burrell includes many suggestions for the gardener charged with developing an otherwise barren plot into a floriferous spot. Every yard is a collection of ecological zones ranging from dry loose (or compacted) soil to wet mucky bogs. Different combinations of plants work in different circumstances. For example, although I once had a professional gardener tell me Siberian Iris would grow anywhere, that has not been my experience, and Burrell confirms their best showing comes in a relatively damp area (Mine do best in the boggy area where our air conditioning unit drips ceaselessly throughout the summer-check out the lake in the middle of Central Park, Siberian Iris grow all along the shoreline). And speaking of "wet" gardens, Burrell shows ferns, Hosta, flags and various other perennials who either like or can tolerate damp feet combined into a `Garden for Three Seasons.' Burrell covers almost any situation you can encounter in the garden: shade and wet, shade and dry, hot and dry, hot and wet. Have you just removed a dead tree and are puzzled about what to do to disguise the residual stump? Perhaps you want to grow wild flowers and don't know how or where to begin. Or, perhaps you have prairie-like conditions and wonder what to plant. And by the way, you don't have to live on the Great Plains to have prairie-like conditions, a sunny bank will do or, as in my case, where the driveway meets the street. Burrell offers many tips and "secrets for success" with whatever condition you may encounte...

High Fashion Sewing Secrets from the World-s Best Designers - A Step-By-Step Guide to Sewing Stylish

4 stars (Glad I bought it) - This book has been very helpful in my struggle to break out of beginning sewing. It helps the reader construct garments on a much more professional level. And it helps you to alter existing patterns to create your own design ideas as well as make your own patterns from scratch. I don't know if this would be really useful for someone who is very advanced in his or her sewing skills, but for someone like me it's a huge eye opener and a great introduction to pattern drafting. 3 stars (Expected alot more than received) - being a fasion student in America I look for any resource that I can find pertaining to real Haute Couture, but this book was a real disappointment. It basically has everything that I've already learned expect for the roses thats a pretty good idea. But for home sewers its absolutely PERFECT! Home sewers will really get alot of experence from this book. 5 stars (transformed me from a beginner to a confident sewer) - I bought this book about 6 months ago and read it from cover to cover. I was fascinated, but I didn't want to write a review until I had actually tried some of the techniques. Well, I've done the piped pockets, the bias cvered seams, and I'm working on the flounce collar (which happens to be fashionable again), and they look pretty good!! But worth all the money, are the pages on manipulating patterns. With commercial patterns costing well over $10 today, this book enables you to play with what is already in your collection. Before this, I was a slave to the pattern companies, but now, I know how to make what I want. I eliminated a waist seam on a jumper for my daughter, and created an unusual skirt by combining two patterns. My confidence in my ability to construct a garment, and have it look professional, has increased mani-fold. ...

Scrawny to Brawny - The Complete Guide to Building Muscle the Natural Way

3 stars (Just Another Rip Off) - I found this book to be just another hype to get your bucks, it does not contain anything out of the ordinary regarding muscle building, I found it very disappointing. I'm glad I purchased it on Amazon.com with a discount. 4 stars (Some new information for the long limbed) - I've been trying to gain weight for 15+ years but with little real success. I've read alot and I'm constantly in the gym. Most of the information in the book is not new; eat alot and lift heavy during short intense workouts. What I did find new was the biometrics and assessments portion of the book. It gave new insight into proper body mechanics for the ectomorph. There was a few pearls of wisdom in the nutrition section. I've put on 10lbs after 6 weeks even without following the nutrition plan exactly. I would definitely reccommend the book to a novice to intermediate level hardgainer, it will save them from wasting alot of time listening to mesomorph advice on how to train. 2 stars (Ectomorphs Only) - With all the complimentary reviews you'd think that this book was a godsend. Certainly there are good things about the book: its discussion of biomechanics and kinesiology, good demo photos, nutrition discussion, and friendly writing style. Here's the caveat: although the description of the book is for "hardgainer's (although they eschew the term, they prefer the term "hypertrophy challenged" in their first chapter), AND they say that there is a difference between a hardgainer and an ectomorph, the rest of the book addresses the ectomorph. BUT what if you are a short skinny guy? You may feel a bit left out when every other paragraph laments the ectomorphic challenges of long bones, height, longer radius, kinesiology of those INCREDIBLY long legs that never tire and how easy it is to lift for short guys. What if you are just a shrimp? ...

Football Physics - The Science of the Game

4 stars (Good Book for the Sports Fan Who Likes Science) - From start to finish this was a fascinating book. There is also a great deal of football history sprinkled throughout. It does a great job introducing the football portion of the topic, then the physics lesson, and then combines them to understand how the physics principle is implemented in real life. It does take a basic understanding of physics to really grasp the concepts since the book does not go into a great deal of detail on the principles. It starts with the fundamentals of blocking a tackling and you gain a much greater understanding of the forces an NFL player can generate. Then you get to understand the precision required to run a passing and kicking game. I especially enjoyed the section on pursuit angles and maximizing the yardage gain. A very fast read that was very enjoyable. 5 stars (I Wish I'd Had This for a Physics Textbook) - If Thmothy Gay doesn't rewrite this book into a high school level physics text he's really missing a bet. Of course I don't know anything about selling textbooks, but boy, I sure wish I'd had something like this when I was first taking physics in high school. Dr. Gay is both a professor (atomic physics) and a football fan. What happens when a heavy, fast moving player (like Warren Sapp) hits a much lighter quarterback (Doug Flutie)who is standing still? This is such a better question than a mass of blah with a speed of blah-blah, and so on. Or what was the accuracy required of Joe Montana in throwing to Jerry Rice in The Catch during SuperBown XXIII. Montana had to throw the ball at just the right speed, just the right direction, and just the right time. But how fast, how accurately, and what was the margin of error on his timing. The book is a delightful read on aspects of the game of football rarely seen. 5 stars (Great book for football fans and science students...) - If you're a football fan but don't know anything about physics, this book will teach y...

Bicycling Magazine-s Complete Guide to Bicycle Maintenance and Repair - For Road and Mountain Bikes

5 stars (Can't be beat for price and quality) - After looking at several other bicycle repair manuals, it was a joy to come across this book that is just right on the money. Todd Downs's book about bicycling repair is something that belongs on the bookshelf (or in the garage) of every bicyclist out there. The book easily pays for itself many times over by giving the novice bicycle mechanic the guidance and instruction in doing his own repairs. The book is also interesting to read. Downs explains the pros and cons of the various types of components out there, and gives the reader advice for how to best use and care for his bicycle. The photgraphs are clear and plentiful, never leaving you wondering what you're supposed to do, and give you the confidence to tackle just about any job. Where other books seem to err by giving the reader too little information - or overwhelming the reader with too much - this book strikes a great balance. Every part of the bicycle is covered in its entirety, and this book should work for just about every cyclist out there, whether you're a road warrior, hard-core mountain biker, or just enjoy a casual ride to the coffee shop on Sunday mornings. In addition to just straight repair and maintenance, the book is filled with good advice. I particularly liked when Downs would tell the reader if a troublesome part was better off being repaired or replaced entirely. If you ride a bike, you really should own a repair manual, and this is the best one I've seen so far. 5 stars (Dirt is it's destiny.) - My copy of Todd Downs' book is destined to get dirty-- dirty with the grit and grime of a bicycle in need of maintenance and repair. Modern bikes are more complex and more expensive than ever. Nowadays it's hard to just "wing it" if you want to do your own repairs. This book has really helped me to catch up on modern bike technology and gain a better understanding of my two-month-old Gary Fisher. The book is quite comprehen...

Triathlon Training in Four Hours a Week

5 stars (Swimmer attempts a triathlon) - I liked this book because it broke training levels down into all levels. The author even has a trianing level for the single sporter like myself. If you don't have the time to go all out, then you should look at getting this book. 5 stars (Enjoyed this book) - I truly enjoyed reading this book and utilizing the advice Eric Harr offered. It was easy to read, well organized and made my training enjoyable. I just completed my first sprint triathlon, had a blast and now I'm training for my next race. I felt this book assisted me as I prepared mentally and physically for the race, not only by laying out what to expect race day but also the weeks leading up to it. I would highly recommend this book to any first timers out there. 5 stars (Great place to start your triathlon training) - This book is perfect if you are interested in training for a triathlon, but are just not sure how to do it. I run and bike, but have never done a triathlon before. I just did not have any clue how to design a program that would allow me to incorporate running, swimming, and cycling in such a way that I would be able to finish a sprint distance triathlon. Using the program in this book I was able to train for and easily complete my first sprint triathlon. If you have any interest in training for a triathlon and do not know how, I would HIGHLY recommend this book. It is not technical. It makes you believe you can do it, and it provides a program framework that works. The program(s) in this book cover fitness levels from bare beginners all the way to single sport Gods (runners, cyclists, etc.) They are geared towards a sprint distance, but adaptable up to 1/2 ironman distance. Each program is doable (time wise). You do not need to quit your job and divorce your wife. Overall, fantastic. If you want to train but do not know where to start, this is where to start. ...

Men-s Health The Book of Muscle

5 stars (A surprisingly good book) - I wasn't really looking for much out here, but was pleasantly surprised with the quality and content of the book. I have been doing weight lifting for many years, and have bought all sorts of books, and this is the only book that sounds complete and reliable. The book also has 18 months of chalked out routine which are quite easy to follow. I have been through all sorts of training programmes, and the authours of each book claim that they have "something real" that the other writers don't. They openly bash each other. OK, now here's the truth. Any programme will work for beginners, whether its superslow or Brawn. The truth is that you got to go to the gym and lift. So, if any programme works, why not use the one thats presented in this book? Its carefully planned out, time-tested and lasts for 18 months (others just last for 12 weeks or so and then they leave you hanging in air). My advice, get this book and start working out. You won't loose. All the nest! 5 stars (Great training book) - I got a supplement of this book with a copy of mens healt a few years ago. It was my bible for training until one day my car was stolen with the supplement in it. I was lost without it until I bought the full book from amazon recently. It is a great training aid for those who are serious about training but need a little, or should I say lack a little in the form of direction. This book is great for giving yourself the programme(s) to follow and a great step by step description of how to do the various exercises. I dont leave this one in my car to be stolen again as I dont want to loose it a second time.... Gerard 5 stars (BEST OF THE BEST) - An excellent, interesting, well written and professionally illustrated guide to building your body.Physiology, cardio, nutrition, warmup, stretching(flexibility),and weight training are shown to work synergistically to gain strength and build muscle. Men-s Health Home Workout Bible- A Do-It-Yourself Guide to Burning Fat and Building Muscle

5 stars (Excellent Overall) - Provides basic understanding of exercise physiology and diet. Provides basic understanding of muscles and their functions. Provides the nuts and bolts of dos and donts with respect to form, routines ( when to and how to change routines ). One of the only few books out there which would tell you what exercise equipment to use and what to expect from that equipment. Also one of the only books which has divided ALL exercises ( dumbell, free weights and cable ) into beginner , intermmediate and advance level. If you are new to weight training this is a must have and probably the first one to have. My only complain is that the author has strongly discouraged the use of SMITH MACHINE. I understand the rational but if you are like me i.e. exercising at home without the spotter and do not want to get injured then you got to have this machine. After doing weight training for one and a half year my last comment about the ultimate machine "the dream machine" is Get a SMITH MACHINE with Free weight capability and integrated cable system. Get a cheao 40 lbs each two adjustable dumbells from Walmart and you are set to be at the next level. Good Luck! 3 stars (Pretty good for men thinking about adding muscle and willing to pay the price) - This is a traditional, intro pumping iron book for men. The only slight twist is, as the title says, it's for men looking to workout at home, not the club. My wife and I have both read it and this is our combined feedback ("See all my reviews" for additional feedback). Our 3 star rating is actually an average. I give it 3.5 and she gives it 2.5. To be blunt, in our oppinion the book is targetted at men with little or no weightlifting experience and are interested in doing a "body make-over" to become the chick-magnet they always knew they could be. To us, it's not a health and fitness book but an intro pumping iron book. If you are self-motivated, respond well to setting a goal and working hard to achieve...

Core Performance - The Revolutionary Workout Program to Transform Your Body and Your Life

5 stars (Core Benefits !) - what a difference this book has made in my basic body alignment. I am really taking the time to follow the simple plans of building my core and people see the results. And i am pleased with the results. 4 stars (Excellent workout, but understand the limitations) - As background, I'm a late thirties guy who has generally been active in fitness and recreational sports, but I've been out of competitive athletics since college. As such, I started with a good-but-not-great level of fitness. My reasons for starting included boredom with my routine of weightlifting and kickboxing on alternate days, as well as some reading about the merits of core conditioning as a training approach. I enjoyed this program from the beginning. I could detect improvements in flexibility and abdominal strength within a few workouts. Also, the variety was intellectually stimulating. I used the program for about 9 weeks, took a break from it, and returned. Now I am not quite as strict in sticking to the schedules lined out in the book, but rather work them in with other workouts as time and interest allow. Strengths: 1) The workouts are rigorous and concise. They seldom exceed 45 minutes if you stick to the rules about the amount of rest between sets, but you feel like you have had a good workout. 2) The program works. It helped with overall fitness and sport-specific fitness in soccer and karate. I literally have felt better and fitter than I have in years. 3) The complaint about the science of the book is being answered as research catches up with this training approach. Dynamic stretching, "core" exercises and interval training are showing up in research studies and in professional training rooms. I don't think a reader needs to feel that this is an "out there" approach to fitness. Weakness: 1) The typos should be embarrassing. Most of the time you can figure out what the author meant, but the website is full of people writing in and asking for cl...

License to Deal - A Season on the Run with a Maverick Baseball Agent

1 stars (hypocrisy) - The author is a whole host of contradictions. While he rails against the ethics of sports agents, he himself embarassingly participates in questionable activities to add to his sports roster. The book is a boring read, and after awhile his "holier than thou" attitude begins to grate on you. 5 stars (Informative look into the lives of baseball agents.) - Review: License to Deal by Jerry Crasnick License to Deal by Jerry Crasnick is sub-titled "A Season on the Run with a Maverick Baseball Agent". The agent is Matt Sosnick, whose most famous client is Dontrelle Willis of the Florida Marlins. Crasnick paints Sosnick and his partner Paul Cobbe as good people and friends to their clients. All this in a field of sharks and wolves. Sosnick and Cobbe routinely try to keep their own clients from abandoning and jumping to other agents while the players are still in the minors or just starting out their careers in the majors. Crasnick makes Sosnick look like the victim. But as Crasnick shows (although he never explicitly states it), Sosnick-Cobbe have their own moments where they are rude, arrogant, aggressive and steal other agents' clients as well. The bottom line is this is a cut throat business and either all agents are victims or none of them are, because they all get screwed and all try to screw others too. Crasnick also writes about other agents and baseball deals in the book. There is a whole chapter on Scott Boras, as well as many other anecdotes and quotes from other agents and baseball management interspersed throughout the book. Overall, Crasnick does a good job describing the life of agents. The middle-tier ones like Sosnick and Cobbe and the stars like Boras and Moorad (now in management with the Diamondbacks). I recommend this book for those that are interested in the business side of baseball. 5 stars (Sports Book of the Year) - Without question, this will go down as the best sports book of 2005. Bicycling Magazine-s Complete Book of Road Cycling Skills - Your Guide to Riding Faster- Stronger- L

3 stars (Literary equivalent to the energy bar) - This book is broken down into short chapters which can each be read in about three to five minutes. Like Bicycling magazine itself, it manages to be accurate and somewhat helpful, albeit completely insubstantial. I found that reading this book inspired me to ride, which is always a good thing. The subject of road cycling, however, is treated in such a superficial and scattershot manner that the book will probably be of little long term benefit. Like a cliff bar, it's sugary, fast acting, short term fuel for the road. 3 stars (A good book for the the strait racing bike. ) - This book was written primarily for the strait road/race bicycle, (the one with the curved handlebars). If this is your bike I recommend it, even more so if you intend to race. However, except for a brief topic of converting a mountain bike for the road, there is no mention of hybrids in the book. Maybe the book was made before they were available, hence the info on converting a mountain bike for the road. If you have a road bike with upright handlebars, (hybrid, comfort, touring), you won't find any mention of your bike in the book. And the pictures and info in the chapter on bicycle parts is all geared toward the road/racing bike. However the book is still worthwhile reading, particularly the chapters on safety, and road skills, dealing with exhaustion, heat, and cold among other helpful topics. I wouldn't recommend it for the advanced cyclist, or those that don't have a dedicated road/race bike, as a first book. But there is still some good stuff here. The black and white drawings of streetwise safety ideas I found particularly helpful. fiannor 1 stars (rather embarrassing...) - I guess for $11-12 you can take your chances with the book, but I don't believe you will learn much from it unless you are absolutely new to bicycling. But even then do not expect too much. As another reviewer said, many suggestions are rather simp...

3 stars (Good) - I like the different exercises on every other day- it worked out pretty well for me with my week days- but some of the info seems to be rehashed over and over again in his books. Some of the moves bothered my low back at times- morning vs the evening so I changed around the execersies it seem to work. Hope this helps. 3 stars (2nd best, but it DOES rank!) - I think Jorge Cruise has a lot to offer and I certainly love his technique, but I believe his first book "8 Minutes in the Morning: A Simple Way to Shed up to 2 Pounds a Week Guaranteed" was by far #1. Here's why: - 8 min. flat belly had a lot of repeat information from the original 8 minutes, which is to be expected because they both market to others, but if you have already read and followed the original 8 minutes book, I doubt you'll appreciate this one. - I FELT a lot thinner in all areas while doing the original 8 minutes routine than I ever did while doing the flat belly program. It reccommends mixing hip and thigh spot training with all over body moves, I just didn't feel a difference. - The original has a few paragraphs of motivation before every routine, lean hips doesn't. The motivation was a big factor for me. - The original has different routines every day for 4 weeks!! Lean hips has only 1 week of each level (easy, intermediate, hard). I know every body is different and perhaps if you begin with this book you would like it, but my overall opinion is that the original is #1!! 5 stars (8 Minutes in the Morning to Lean Hips and Thin Thighs) - This is THE exercise and eating plan book I've been needing all my life! The exercises are so easy and very little equipment is needed. Everyone can spare 8 minutes a day to do them. I feel great, have lost 11 lbs., and my pants are baggy in my thighs in just 4 weeks. The eating plan is very sensible and nutritional. I don't feel deprived at all because I can eat carbs, snacks and a daily treat. The book is easy to read and understand and is ...

8 Minutes in the Morning to a Flat Belly- Lose Up to 6 Inches in Less than 4 Weeks--Guaranteed-

5 stars (Good and Practical) - I expect to hear many success stories of people following Jorge Cruise's "8 minutes in the morning" routine. It is really easy to follow as it takes neither a lot of time nor a lot of effort. I think it is a plan for anyone. I suggest anyone who is interested in health to consider purchasing this book. Suggested meals are also tasty. What I especially like about Jorge Cruise is that he does not suggest any diet that requires giving up some ingredients such as fats or carbohydrates. NO counting of calories or banning of foods - that fits me well! Similar like M. Tombak in his book "Can We Live 150 Year?" Jorge Cruise makes sure that you have a balanced diet. Dr. Tombak, however, focused more at one's health and longevity rather than good looks. But surprisingly, when you follow Tombak's advice good looks just come about as a natural outcome of good physical and psychological health. If you add to this your "8 minutes in the morning" plan, you are set for success... 3 stars (more to it than the title) - What the title and other reviews here don't tell you is that Jorge recommends you cleanse your system every Saturday with a laxative. Not the way I want to spend my weekend. 2 stars (YOU NEED MORE THAN 8 but good choices) - I Look for books all the time on this topic to see if there any new moves I can pick up to help shape and tone the stomach area which is a problem for most of us. I think if you are just starting out this book will help you understand the positions you need to get into but it's going to take alot more than 8 minutes to get results and I have been training for years. ...

Get Your Own Damn Beer- I-m Watching the Game- - A Woman-s Guide to Loving Pro Football

5 stars (For Novices and Those Who Think They're Pros, Too!) - My knowledge of football is limited but I've always enjoyed the game. Holly Robinson Peete writes with humor as well as honing in on the "fears" of women who don't understand the game. I learned a lot and refer to it as I watch this year's onslaught of games. She also provides interesting anecdotal comments and facts about the history of the game and its famous and infamous players. 5 stars (Finally!! It all makes sense) - As a true b-ball fan, I never really appreciated the great american sport of football. I became more and more intrigued by the sport as I followed our Carolina Panthers to the Superbowl, season before last. Although I religiously watched all of the playoff games, I certainly couldn't hold my own in a conversation about the games. But now I have to say I believe I can. Holly, girl, you did the dog gone thing. Men even seemed to be the impressed by the mere fact that I was reading a book about football (as I found at the airport earlier this week). This book is fun, sassy and informative. I can hardly wait until this season's opener. Bring on the beer, wings and yes, even ice cream. I'm lovin' it! ...
