5 stars (Catchy.) - I like evaluating new diet books now and then and this one caught my eye with its catchy title. While the title almost implies that you only have to diet for three hours, the true meaning is that you need to EAT every three hours. By doing this, your body doesn't go into starvation mode which will eventually undermine your goal to lose weight. Reader friendly and well laid out, I'd have to say its not a bad plan all in all. However even if you follow it to a 'T', you'll be doing the same thing you've always had to do to lose weight- eat less and exercise more. Readers interested in other diet books might also want to check out "The No-Beach, No-Zone, No-Nonsense Weight Loss Plan" 4 stars (Good Information) - the 3-Hour Diet book is an easy book to read and directions are easy to follow. It has helped me in eating properly, not so much in losing weight, just learning to eat the right way and take care of myself 5 stars (The 3-Hour Diet ) - It is a very "easy" read. Information is practicle and makes sense. Lots of encouraging real-life success stories from people who have modified their eating habits with "The 3-Hour Diet" plan. 4 stars (Good recipes for South Beach diet) - This book gives you other options that fit with all phases of the south beach diet. 5 stars (Eating Thin and Healthy Can Be Beautiful and Tasty!) - You will only be interested in this cookbook if you are a committed follower of The South Beach Diet. If you are an Atkins freak, go elsewhere! I lost 50 pounds on the South Beach Diet. To me, that accomplishment was less impressive than the fact that I couldn't lose weight on any diet before I tried this one. I think I had become insulin resistant, and everything I ate turned to fat . . . even when my calorie count was low. I found the diet appealing for some other reasons. First, I already ate a low fat diet and felt comfortable doing that. So I didn't have to change that part of my healthy eating. In fact, I was also being sure that I got "good" fats like omega-3 fatty acids from eating fish. Second, I could still eat carbs . . . I just had to avoid the ones that turn into instant blood sugar. Third, Dr. Agatston also introduced some new staples into my diet that I enjoy such as low-fat cheese snacks, having a few salty almonds, and eating steaming bowls of old-fashioned oatmeal. Fourth, and here's where the cookbook comes in, he introduced to me the idea of tasty, healthy ingredients I can use to spruce up simple foods. As a result, my cupboard has about twice as many spices as before (I love to put cinnamon on almost everything!) and my refrigerator has lots of new kinds of vegetables and fruits that I stir into all kinds of dishes. Suddenly, the ordinary becomes special and interesting! In this cookbook, Dr. Agatston once again calls on top chefs to show you how to make delicious, healthy dishes. Preparing the food takes a bit of time but is well worth it 5 stars (IT WORKS!!!!!) - I followed the plan with some slight modifications (flavored water) and lost 7 pounds in 6 days! More importantly though was that I learned how to eat healthy and control my portion sizes! I have been sticking to the plan for 2 weeks now and feel the best I have felt in a long time. I even sleep better since I started this plan. The plan works!!!! I tried to eat some junky greasy food last night (yes I cheated) and it made me sick. I don't even want that type of food anymore! Eating for Life- Your Guide to Great Health- Fat Loss and Increased Energy- Body for Life

1 stars (Disappointing from a nutritional perspective) - Let me start by saying I'm a big Bill Phillips fan. Did he actually write this book, or was his name just slapped on the cover? The recipes are a far cry from what any health conscious person would call "healthy" or even "good food". They are full of pre-packaged ingredients, which contain a ton of hidden fats, sodium, and preservatives. (I'm sure this is why no one bothered to add the nutritional values) Where are the fresh fruits and vegetables? Whatever happened to using common sense in determining a healthful, well-balanced diet? What on earth is a butter bud, and why would I want it in my Body For Life?? I guess this might be a step up for anyone that lives on takeout and has never learned the proper way to prepare a meal, but unless you really enjoy the taste of preservatives, this is probably not the book for you. If you're really committed to healthful living and eating, invest in a good whole foods cookbook instead, and leave this one on the shelf. 5 stars (Excellent advice and recipes) - This book is fantastic. I've been a fan of Bill Philips since reading Body for Life, and Eating for Life takes it one step further. Every recipe I have tried so far has been a success - tasty and easy to make. The dinners are all complete meals, so you don't have to worry about choosing side dishes, etc. The total time to make the meals are listed with each recipe, and so far have been accurate. Many "healthy" cookbooks I have bought in the past seemed like they were not written for real people. The recipes tend to be complex, timely to make, with hard to find ingredients. This book, on the other hand, has recipes that are simple to make, with ingredients you can find at any grocery store. Also, because he uses a lot of the same seasonings in different recipes, it doesn't cost a fortune trying to buy all new spices. 2 stars (Disappointed) - My opinion is the food plan will work but this book is not laid out well. I found myself going back and forth trying to locate the info I needed. The book refers to info in previous written books which I do not own. This info should be included in this book! The first 4 chapters tend to cover the science aspect of the diet...For me a simple statement would do since I don't have any interest in the rest or even understand most of it to be simply honest. Moving ahead...I did begin the cleanse process, only using 1 of the supplements suggested...(taking herbal la'xs 3 'xs daily is not healthy in my opinion so I chose not to use that portion of the cleanse) I did lose 6.5# my first week. Even though I have had success with the cleanse part of the diet, I am disappointed in the book as a whole. 4 stars (GOOD INFORMATION FOR DETOXING AND FOR CHOOSING WATER) - I LIKED THIS BOOK, I HAVE BEEN STUDYING HEALTH AND NUTRITION FOR OVER 20 YEARS. 5 stars (Fat Flush Plan by Gittleman) - The medical and nutritional advice in this book is sound. The importance of liver detoxification is a classic part of the alternative medicinal regimen. Generally, the liver burns fat, acts as a metabolizer and detoxifies the blood of waste materials. Overloading the liver results in weight gain, cellulite, bloat, increased blood pressure and fatigue. Liver stressers are caffeine, sugar, medications and emotional stress. The standard flush consists of a mixture of Cran juice and water, psyllium and/or flaxseed. This produces a potent phytonutrient mix which is rich in antioxidants which provide classic cofactors for optimal liver functioning. In addition, the combo helps to digest fatty globules in the lymphatic system. The cocktail discharges fat generally. Eggs help to regulate bile. Broccoli and kale are sulforaphranes which convert toxins to non-toxic materials. Ginger root is known to increase metabolism. Lipotropic herbs are dandelion root and milk thistle. 5 stars (Excellent condition) - We ordered two South Beach diet books and they were both in excellent shape. The order came within a few days. We have always been very satisfied with books we've ordered from Amazon.com, whether new or used. PS--my husband lost 13 pounds on South Beach in the first two weeks! 4 stars (To lose weight, just head South.) - This is a diet book whose plan is to get you to lose weight by limiting your carbohydrates- essentially another low-carbohydrate diet. It has 3 phases where your carbohydrates are severely restricted at first, and then re-introduced. These kinds of diets will definitely help you lose weight in the short run, but in the long run, they fare just as well as any regular calorie restricted diet. An easy read, I give it 4 stars. 4 stars (I was not disappointed) - The book is a quick reference guide that I thought was pretty good for helping with the grocery shopping and as a dining out guide. The author thinks he is funny and sometimes he is. Overall not a bad book, it will hand walk a person through eating right steps. 5 stars (Good book with helpful food combinations) - A great book, mainly about food and food types that are best. 3 stars (Good) - I like the different exercises on every other day- it worked out pretty well for me with my week days- but some of the info seems to be rehashed over and over again in his books.Some of the moves bothered my low back at times- morning vs the evening so I changed around the execersies it seem to work. Hope this helps. 3 stars (2nd best, but it DOES rank!) - I think Jorge Cruise has a lot to offer and I certainly love his technique, but I believe his first book "8 Minutes in the Morning: A Simple Way to Shed up to 2 Pounds a Week Guaranteed" was by far #1. Here's why: - 8 min. flat belly had a lot of repeat information from the original 8 minutes, which is to be expected because they both market to others, but if you have already read and followed the original 8 minutes book, I doubt you'll appreciate this one. - I FELT a lot thinner in all areas while doing the original 8 minutes routine than I ever did while doing the flat belly program. It reccommends mixing hip and thigh spot training with all over body moves, I just didn't feel a difference. - The original has a few paragraphs of motivation before every routine, lean hips doesn't. The motivation was a big factor for me. - The original has different routines every day for 4 weeks!! Lean hips has only 1 week of each level (easy, intermediate, hard). I know every body is different and perhaps if you begin with this book you would like it, but my overall opinion is that the original is #1!! 5 stars (8 Minutes in the Morning to Lean Hips and Thin Thighs) - This is THE exercise and eating plan book I've been needing all my life! 5 stars (Good and Practical) - I expect to hear many success stories of people following Jorge Cruise's "8 minutes in the morning" routine. It is really easy to follow as it takes neither a lot of time nor a lot of effort. I think it is a plan for anyone. I suggest anyone who is interested in health to consider purchasing this book. Suggested meals are also tasty. What I especially like about Jorge Cruise is that he does not suggest any diet that requires giving up some ingredients such as fats or carbohydrates. NO counting of calories or banning of foods - that fits me well! Similar like M. Tombak in his book "Can We Live 150 Year?" Jorge Cruise makes sure that you have a balanced diet. Dr. Tombak, however, focused more at one's health and longevity rather than good looks. But surprisingly, when you follow Tombak's advice good looks just come about as a natural outcome of good physical and psychological health. If you add to this your "8 minutes in the morning" plan, you are set for success... 3 stars (more to it than the title) - What the title and other reviews here don't tell you is that Jorge recommends you cleanse your system every Saturday with a laxative. Not the way I want to spend my weekend. 2 stars (YOU NEED MORE THAN 8 but good choices) - I Look for books all the time on this topic to see if there any new moves I can pick up to help shape and tone the stomach area which is a problem for most of us. The G I Diet - The Easy- Healthy Way to Permanent Weight Loss

5 stars (Weigh loss made easy) - I am a member of Weight Watchers since January 1979. I lost weight and kept it off until 1993 when I had my last child. I kept all the weight I gained during this last pregnancy. I was at 200 lbs and am 5'5" tall. This same weight stayed with me until 2003. I was going through menopause so I began HRT (hormone replacement therapy). Being older my metabolism really slowed down, so I added more weight to my body. I got to 223 lbs and I began to panic, since both my sisters are Type 2 diabetics and are morbidly obese. My own BMI is over 30. I am on medication for HBP and recently was diagnosed with diabetis too. My regiment is diet and exercise and glucose monitoring once a day. Since I am a weight watcher, I began my program to lose my weight again. I kept a food journal and added walking 2 miles 4 days a week to my regiment. I was losing weight the healthy way (1 - 2 lbs a week), but after 4 months, my weight just stayed the same. I would lose 2 lbs and the next week gain them back. This cycle continued for about 6 weeks. I had already purchased the G.I. Diet but never read it. Imagine that... but when I decided to give this book a try, I was impressed so much by Mr. Gallop's writing and how it seemed that he was speaking to me and my way of life. I decided to try it, after all I am a lifetime member of weight watchers what could it hurt. After being on this diet for 2 weeks, I lost over 3.5 lbs. My energy level is up and my mind is focused. I cannot believe how clear my mental well being is now that I am following this food plan. I love it and highly recommended this to both my sisters.
