5 stars (The Best Nursing Book You Can Buy) - I discovered this book two months into breastfeeding, and wished I had found it sooner. Everything you possibly need to know about nursing is under one cover. Unlike most other breastfeeding books that only discuss nursing a newborn, this book contains information on nursing newborns through toddlers. Highly recommend this book for all nursing mothers. 5 stars (Excellent nursing book!) - I bought this book as I am expecting my second baby and had problems nursing the first. I went through at least half a dozen lactation consultants with my first before I got the info I needed to make breastfeeding successful, and this was after the first two weeks and after my baby was hospitalized due to dehydration. I wish I had this book then, as it covers everything I needed to know about poor latch/insufficient milk supply. I am learning so much as I read the book and feel so much more confident as I approach the birth of my second. This book covers every issue I think you could come across with breastfeeding. 5 stars (Lots of good info) - Great book. Actually answered some questions (one in particular) for which I'd been unable to find answers elsewhere. Including at the Medela booth at a professional conference. 2 stars (this reference book was all marked up!) - While the seller tells me the item was described as having some marks--I don't think I would have bought a reference book that was riddled throughout with nonsensical highlights and pencil markings. 2 stars (not recommended) - I would not recommend this book as a good source to learn more about ADD or ADHD. Although it was somewhat interesting to read about the life experiences of others, it really did not offer useful coping skills. I also felt like it was geared more towards adults who had not recognized their problems until much later in life and the havoc undiagnosed ADD can cause in your life. Some of the other books I have read also give a few examples which are helpful in recognizing and understanding your child and their problems, but they also offer good coping skills for you and for your child. 5 stars (Driven to Distraction) - I loved this CD, it gave me insight into a disorder/condition that affects several people I care very deeply about. It explained how they can be some of the brightest and most stubborn people on the planet. I recommend it highly. ...

1 stars (Wasted Space) - I was very disappointed with the content and layout of this book. The amount of wasted pages for 'workspace' is excessive, but considering the lack of true content, I assume they needed to fill pages with something. 5 stars (Purchased by Spouses Group) - Our spouses group purchased this item to donate it to a Psycology Clinic at our local hospital. The clinic was very excited to receive it since they specifically requested this book. 5 stars (powerful, easy tools conquer depression/anxiety) - After years in therapy and various methods (Freudian, Jungian, etc.), it was finally Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that helped me stop the negative, worrying (a facet of anxiety) voices that blared incessantly in my mind. I can not recommend this book enough. Its simple exercises will have you seeing the fallacy of your thoughts, which are what determine your mood. The book (and CBT's) superbly simplistic idea is that your THOUGHTS are what control your MOODS. Control your thoughts, and you control your moods. But before we can do this, we have to slow down enough to take the time to see where our thoughts are coming from. This book and its exercises help us find where we are simply WRONG in the thoughts we have about ourselves which lead to depressed or anxious mood. These exercises will help you determine your "hot thoughts," (automatic thoughts you hold about yourself that are linked to depressed/anxious mood), will help you examine evidence for and against your thoughts, and then help you use this evidence to create NEW THOUGHTS which ought to in turn help you create NEW MOODS. These techniques are amazingly simple but also incredibly powerful. If you feel stuck in "talk therapy" analysis and can not seem to change the way you think about yourself, this book is for you! However, you should also seek a trained COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPIST to teach you the techniques to literally CHANGE your thought process. Anxiety and depression are ...

5 stars (WOW!!) - I am a 41 year old woman.. stay home Mom with four kids. I have been incredibly disorganized and frustrated for many years and was recently diagnosed with Adult ADD. I decided to do some research to learn more about natural cures and basic understanding of this condition.. and this book has been awesome!! I have already changed things in my life.. from the ideas in the book.. I would say this is a MUST READ for anyone diagnosed with ADD or with a child with ADD... The additional concepts and information it provides for people with ADD is just great. 5 stars (Practical tips in a highly readable narrative!) - Just finished reading this excellent followup book to Driven to Distraction. Dr. Hallowell has included his best suggestions from over 20 years of practice as well as his personal experiences with ADD. Unlike many of the ADD titles, this book is written with adults in mind, but it will also be helpful to parents of ADD children. Many of the chapters are extremely short. Dr. Hallowell emphasizes that you don't even have to read the whole book (but I couldn't put it down). You can start at the beginning or pick out any chapter that seems relevant to you - this strategy is perfect for adults with ADD and for the busy people who love them. This good-humored book discusses the current spectrum of medications and training techniques with an emphasis on day-to-day coping by building upon the many positive traits of those with ADD. ...

Algebra Unplugged

4 stars (A pleasure to read and excellent introduction to algebra) - Kenn Amdahl has succeeded in making algebra look like a game and maybe he is right. I recommend this book to anybody who has the slightest interest in the subject. It reads almost like listening to your mathematically inclined buddy exchanging a few words on mathematics over a beer; that's what I felt, two buddies getting together and just shooting breeze over mathematics. It certainly made me conscious of paying more attention to VOCABULARY and CONCEPTS and less on manipulation. You won't regret the time you spent on this book nor the money! 5 stars (FANTASTIC BOOK ON ALGEBRA!!!!!!) - THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS ON ALGEBRA CONCEPTS THAT THERE IS ON THE MARKET. I AM OVER 60 YRS. OLD AND WANTED TO STUDY ALGEBRA. I ONLY WISH THERE EXISTED MATH TEACHERS WITH THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE CONCEPTS AS CAN THESE GENTELMEN. WOULD GIVE 10 STARS IF POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!! 5 stars (Quadratic!) - Algebra were one of the greatest avant-garde prog rock bands of the nineties. In " Algebra Unplugged " Amdahl and Loats have put together an incredible compilation of some of their best acoustic live sets. The production, is at times, a little weak, but the heart-rending "ax * ax + bx + c = 0" recorded live in Lecture Theatre 2.13 is probably one of Algebra's finest moments. There's some real gems on this album - The stunning 15 minute opus "Quadratic/Equivalence" being a case in point. A couple of tracks grate a little, most noticably - "Simplifying Exponents of Polynomials" but on the whole this is a magnificent album and is not to be missed. ...

4 stars (Good step forward) - I'm not finished reading yet, but I've learned some very important information to helop me get and keep my blood sugar levels in a normal and safe range. 4 stars ( Dr RIchard Bernsteins Completre Guide to Normal Blood Sugars ) - I found this book to be valuable ifor the resources, which is in and of itself extremely important, and his common sense approach, which is necessary to keep from the worn out phrase "leading authority", goodness knows we have too many of those these days, and it ends up a work of art and refeshing in it's honest approach. Do this and this is the rusult you will arrive at. TRUE. As for me he is a hero, however I simply cannot live on 25 carbs a day. MADELINE B OGLE PhD 5 stars (A LIFESAVER-IF YOU'RE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR HEALTH ) - Like others who have reviewed the book, I had very poor blood sugar control on the ADA diet. I hit rock bottom in 2004 when I suffered several weeks of blindness, and was unable to work. I have now lost about forty pounds, and have average blood sugar readings in the 120 range. Previously, my average would have been at least one hundred points higher. When I get off the diet, my blood sugar goes right back into the two and three hundred range instantly. I have had improvement in symptoms. For example, the feeling in my extermities is much better. For the present, my diabetic retinopathy has stabilized, which I pray will continue. I do not find the diet change to be much of a sacrifice. That might be because I experienced the horror of having the disease completely take over my life. It can be inconvenient to eat out, but with a little creativity, I have a diverse and appealing menu. I have not been to Dr. Bernstein's clinic, but hope to go eventually. I recommend the book to any diabetic I meet, and consider it the principle reason for the improvement in my health. ...
