2 stars (Not the best) - I had the new Windows 2000 virus on my computer and this program could not detect it. I recommend PC Security Shield. It is much less expensive and comes with a firewall and anti spyware. A computer repairman said he does not recommend McAfee or Norton. 1 stars (McAfee-No stars...defective product...no support!!) - Installed McAfee VS 2005 9.0 on a perfectly good Dell 8200 Inspirion and it killed it dead. Don't buy this product...it didn't work on my PC where everything else worked fine. McAfee offers no warranty support and couldn't care less about customers. Stay away, very far away. 1 stars (Don't get screwed !!!) - I've been a McAfee fan for years, until last week. An antivirus auto-update didn't finish loading, which put my PC in a constant rebooting stage. After paying $$ to speak to someone at McAfee, and getting "scripted brainless runarounds", he finally told me it was my system vendor's problem and not theirs. I had to install a new hard drive, reinstall all my applications, and then restore my data from backups. I then decided to use a less popular, but well-reviewed antivirus product. It found a number of viruses in my restored data that McAfee had been missing for years. The new program only uses a fraction of the system RAM that McAfee did. McAfee's Security Center uses a lot of RAM, which is a waste, because its main purpose is to constantly annouce what McAfee software products you haven't bought yet. 1 stars (Useless Product.) - This has made spyware even MORE of a problem on my computer. total bummer, man! 1 stars (Do not go anywhere near this product.) - As another reviewer has mentioned this product seems to just add to your problems, during the setup it does say that it will get rid of unwanted pop ups and adds. Once I installed the program I found out that it could not remove some cookies that were found in the ad-ware and I had some error messages something about copy write prottection which I thought was complete crap, so not only does this thing not remove properly but it doesn't even detect the latest vireses or adds. Not only that because I later found out that my computer crashed again when it was working fine before I installed this pathetic program, I suggest you get the latest version of Norton anti-spyware 2005 or PC-cillin instead. 5 stars (McAfee AntiSpyware: Read before you buy) - Till recently, McAfee was only focussing on Anti Virus software. 1 stars (mcafee bites) - ive never used this item, but the previous versions have sucked so much that this deserves 0 stars by default 1 stars (A Big Dissappointment) - I agree completely with the previous reviewer. In addition: 1) The virus scanner stalls out while scanning the Adobe Acrobat Reader files and you can't cancel the stalled out scan unless you kill the power to the PC. 2) It constantly issues annoying pop ups telling you: there is a PUP spyware program, you command it to remove the file, it comes back with 'it cannot remove the file', so you press cancel and every other minute it comes back with the same maddening pop up screen. Time to uninstall this clunker! 3) The online support stinks. There is none! You can buy it at $59.99 a minute...can you believe that? Go back to Norton Anti-virus, their support stinks too, but at least they have a knowledge base you can search. Expect to kick yourself if you purchase this software! 3 stars (Essentially the same as versions 8 and 9.) - There are two components to look at in McAfee VirusScan 2006, also known as version 10: The VirusScan component and the SecurityCenter component, also known by many as the blatant advertising component. I'll talk more about the SecurityCenter in a little bit. First let's review the actual virus scanning ability. I was surprised when I pulled out the Quick Start Guide (which is the only guide that comes in printed form) and it did not instruct me to uninstall the previous version of VirusScan first. The last two or three versions have all said to do so. Maybe McAfee has finally worked through the issues that installing a newer version over an older version has always created. But I'm not one to take any chances. I still recommend not only uninstalling any previous McAfee VirusScan product on your computer, but also uninstalling ALL McAfee products. The conflicts that have been caused in the past by not doing this have been too great and too severe to take that chance. (WARNING...

5 stars (Works great for me) - I've had this bundle for a month and it's very good so far. I didn't have any problems installing both softwares. I haven't got any problems with the virusscan, no mistaken viruses for example. I haven't got any problems with the firewall. Nothing pops up every time I go to a page. I don't even know it's running until I check how many people have tried to get hold of my computer and from where. And I get automatic daily updates for the virusscan and the firewall. I can't tell you about the rebate. I decided not to get it because I had to send my previous Norton Systemworks disk, and I didn't want to get rid of the Doctor feature. 1 stars (kohlton) - Mcafee does not acknowledge that rebate materials have been submitted or they deny the rebate and delay...etc. 1 stars (dont buy this expecting rebates) - mcaffee offers these rebates but refuses to honor them and you can see that this is a known issue ...

3 stars (Take the time to learn how to use it...) - The complaints from users here show, primarily, that they haven't made a sincere effort to learn how to use the product... Splash Screen at Start-up: I, too, wanted to disable this, but instead of complaining that I didn't know how to do it, I took the time to find the answer. Below are the instructions for version 6, on an XP Pro SP2 computer. If you're using a different operating system, these may or may not apply, but give it a try. If you're still using Service Pack 1, then you're just begging for trouble. 1- Right-click the McAfee tray icon (the "M" by the clock) 2- Select "Updates" 3- Click "Configure" 4- Click "Advanced" (...and from there, you'll find what you need.) Another complaint was about the pop-ups; same thing - take the time to look at the settings, because you can change or disable these, too (by the way, the pop-ups annoying, but they're not advertisements; they're "alerts" from McAfee, warning about new threats, new updates, subscription expirations, etc.). If you want to disable them entirely (you'll get no warnings at all), follow the same steps outlined above, and you'll see the options for the Security Alerts settings. If you only want to see the important alerts ("Red Alerts"), right-click on the M, select Personal Firewall, then Utilities, then click on Alert Settings. Another complaint concerned AOL not working w. McAfee Firewall. Personally, I would've deleted AOL before deleting McAfee, but that's a whole other issue... Very basically, firewalls restrict things from coming into & going out of your computer. They're usually pre-configured to allow certain essential things to work without restriction, but they can't read your mind. Sometimes, you'll have to tell it what you want to allow & disallow. So if AOL was working before you installed McAfee Firewall, and it didn't work after, you need to tell the firewall to allow AOL access, via the Internet Applications sett...

2 stars (YEAH! PROTECTION WITH PERFORMANCE AS YOUR TRADE-OFF) - The traditional red packet of "McAfee Internet Security Suite" has been replaced by a shiny and nicely designed black one. This seems to be the most remarkable alterance that buyers will get after forking-out their hard-earned dough! Only very little has changed: in terms of the actual software. And, I am far from being amused. For anyone who currently runs the 2005 (or even the 2004) edition of any Internet Security suite, (be it McAfee or Norton), better save your wad. You need not pay for this one. The notorious problems of both McAfee's Antivirus and Internet Security hogging down your computer's performance resources has not been fixed. And, the same is true for a lot of other incompatibility problems that were evident in the 2005 edition. Meanwhile (on the positive side), an improved 'digital document-shredder', which is marginally better than what featured in the 2005 edition of this software has been added. Still, buyers need not applaud it, because it essentially does the same job that the 'Recycle Bin', which comes integrated with Microsoft Windows, does. Also included in this software is one annoying pop-up, which constantly shows-up to remind you to register the software. And to make matters worse, McAfee deliberately designed it in such a way that you cannot turn it off. So, it means that if you must stop it from disturbing you, you must either register the software or you uninstall it completely. In conclusion, I must say that I was really disappointed by this 2006 edition of "McAfee Internet Security Suite". Although, I must add that in terms of good protection, it gets a pass mark. But the fact that it significantly drains computers' performance-enhancing resources in order to provide this security-cover, makes it a painful pyrrhic victory for users. ...

1 stars (BUYER BEWARE) - It is one of the worst programs ever. First it will occupy your entire computer's memory and make your computer very slow and most of the programs will stop working, I am talking about legitimate programs, like Microsoft, adobe, etc, and other well known companies. You don't need to download a virus; it is a virus by itself. You can never uninstall this product. After uninstalling it over and over it will keep on reappearing and running in the back ground doing the same dirty things as if it was never uninstalled. One more thing, your email client will never work in the presences of this software. The bottom line, I have to delete and format my hard drive and install every thing again, from scratch, which took me about 2 days. I already bought another internet security product but will never touch this company's products again...what a loss. 5 stars (I'm very pleased with the latest version! ) - I have used McAfee for 3 years. 5 stars (Easy and Effective) - This is a great bundle to protect your computer. It has a user-friendly interface and is easy to install/use. The auto update feature is also very valuable to people like myself, who are usually too busy go to a website to update their software. 1 stars (The worst support ever!) - I've used Virus Scan 8.0 and Personal Firewall Plus 5.0 for the past year on my PC without any problems. Recently I installed VS 9.0 and PFP 6.0 (after first uninstalling the older versions), and now it seems although the new products are registered, I can't receive the updates. I am still prompted to register so that I can receive updates, however I receive an error message when I try to do so (probably because it's already registered). Needless to say, McAfee's support is horrible. Their online chat is the worst form of support I've ever encountered; it's slow, painfully slow. Get ready to waste hours, then have your session terminated when one of their idiot technicians tries to send you a pop-up. This is the only form of free technical support they offer, if you want to speak with a person on the phone you must pay $39. It's insulting to say the least. I installed VS 9.0 and PFP 6.0 on my new notebook without any problems, but trying to update my PC has become a huge waste of time. I can't imagine chat based support is more productive or cost effective than phone based support.
