1 stars (unlike any pc game) - this review is for pc version basically the game lacked any customization. but my biggest problem with this game is its camera system. You don't have free third person camera. The game is only top view similiar to RTS games. There are a lot of things missing in this game 1- camera is not what used to be ( previous harry potter games had mouse/camera free movement). 2- no mouse support 3- no video settings 4- no audio settings 5- no key reassignment. ... 5 stars (THE MOST WONDERFUL GAME EVER) - If my typing is a little lagging, please forgive me, I was up all night playing "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." Without doubt, the best game I have ever played. The graphics were so good that it was almost like being at Hogwarts. The snap-scene from the sixth book (where you get to be Snape killing Dumbledore) is the best moment of any game I've ever played, though Dumbledore is my favorite character. I was a little dissappointed that the plot of the seventh book was revealed by entrance to a hidden passage (near the portrait of the Buddhist-looking nuns on the fifth floor). It was the best thirty-second birthday present ever. I go to school in a small town in New York and all my first period studyhall teacher talked about the whole period was how good the game was and that's all everyone else has been talking about since. We're a little obsessed (this is coming from a person who has Harry Potter tattooed across his back). THE BEST GAME EVER. Buy it. Period. ... 4 stars (Must Have) - For Harry Potter Fans a complete pack of the games to date...i loved playing them and can't wait for HP4 game to arrive 5 stars (Awesome entertainment value, great for kids and adults who play along with them) - My 7 year old daughter and I have been searching for a good computer game to play ever since we finished up 101 Dalmations on the PC more than a year ago. I've read her the first three Harry Potter books, and then discovered this collection. It is a big winner. You get four different games (which each originally sold for the cost of this collection, or more). We finished the Sorcerers Stone in about two weeks of evening play. It has plenty of play value to get us to go back, mainly to find the hidden secrets we did not find the first time, and to play some better games of Quiddich. We have just begun playing the Chamber of Secrets. Everything about this one is an upgrade from Sorcerer's Stone: smoother play, more spells, more hidden areas, new activities, new features. We are enjoying it immensely. Some kids are game fanatics, and can handle the controls alone. Another reviewer was correct, a game controller makes these much easier. My daughter and I share the controls when we play together. In these games, she takes the mouse to cast spells and direct Harry's point of view, I work the arrow keys to move us around. We have quite a lot of fun together this way. The games feature the same story line and content as the books. Expect the same (very low) violence level as the books. So I'm giving this bundle 5 stars based on just games. Heck, I would have given it 4 stars for the Sorcerer's Stone alone, or 5 stars for the Chamber of Secrets alone. This is a super value. 4 stars (Great for ages 12 and below) - Some interesting puzzles and basically user friendly. My grand kids and I play it alot. ... 4 stars (Not as fun as the others.) - Good: The character designs & textures were much better...& there were no glitches! Finally! The reward count is far more generous, & it's got Weasley Twins big time!As usual, the voices matched the movies vey well. Harry looks pretty bishie, but that's the deepest voice I've ever heard from a 13 year old. If you love video games & suck at them so bad that even a 5 year old can beat you, you will just barely manage to pass this game not cheating & only minor stress. (the Dementor part is a real pain in the fingers.) Bad: The castle looked TOO different & was much smaller. No debug cheat to explore with....no cheats at ALL actually, not that the scheduling system the game runs on doesn't allow much for exploring. Too many locked door that never get unlocked, no Potions Class, no Hogsmede, No Snape >.< The main characters hair colors are incorect. If you're very good at games, this game will be a cakewalk & barely challenging. The feeling you get watching Ron accidently jump to his death durring a challenge is more impressive than the design for the dementors. Overall, it's a piece of good fandom, a little eye candy, & something to hold you off untill you buy another PC game, you packrat gamer you ^_~ 5 stars (A kid's review) - My 9 year old wants to let any compadres know that: Compared to this game other games are like smelly feet. The reason I like it is because you can see where you're going, it rarely goes out of control, and it's fun, fun, fun!!!!!! I think it's beautiful and glorious. If I had a choice between this game and my brother I would choose this game. The reason I like it is because the levels are great, the pictures are good, and there's this one level where you have to do this mirror thing where you connect the mirrors to a crystal ball. So buy this game and if you don't you're just sick. 5 stars (Third time's the charm! POA great-) - After purchasing the other 2 Harry Potter games for PC I find the 3r... 2 stars (I demand a remake!) - Quiddich, though only imaginative, is an incredible sport in concept. I was practically compelled to buy the game because of visions I had of the possibilities there, even though the reviews were lackluster. Well, turns out people were right. The passing and shooting is oversimplified, the 3D element is completely absent, and its a little too easy to steal the quaffle (i.e. the ball.) The bludgers and beaters (bat-weilding players hitting heavy balls at enemy players) were handled fairly well. The vying for special moves by accomplishing certain goals in a match is a nice touch, but another reviewer hit a chord when they compared their vision of a Quiddich video game with Madden Football. Let players compete at Hogwarts, Club (Professional), or World Cup difficulty, and let them handle the recruiting and management of a team (or even let players you had at Hogwarts play on your pro club when you move to the next level.) Let the flying be more 3 dimensional, with the chance to play as any position all the time instead of just chasers, and you could have a game that redefines sports gaming. Right now, its just a cheap shot by E.A. Games at all us Quiddich dreamers out there. $10? Yeah, its worth about that much. 2 stars (For the wee ones) - I agree with most of the other reviewers here: This game was clearly designed for younger kids, with the fun, eye-candy set high and any possible frustration kept to a minimum. It's clear that EA Games just adapted a soccer-game engine, trying to minimize the three-dimensional nature of Quidditch. That, combined with the utterly predictable AI system, makes it possible for an adult player to WIPE THE FLOOR with any and all comers. It's aggravating, really: It's not likely that there will be another version of this game made for adults with, say, an AI system worthy of the name. And EA games could have so easily created a workable 3D flying system--just use the usual WASD/three-button mouse ... 4 stars (Next best thing to a crystal ball) - Harry Dent has a good track record in calling the larger movements and turn-arounds in the stock market and other investments. He uses both fundamentals (e.g. demographics) as well as technical (i.e. charts) to predict what will happen in the stock market, housing prices, oil prices, etc. No one can predict the future prefectly but Dent appears to have a better crystal ball than almost anyone else. I know for sure it's better than mine. I will be making some changes in my investment strategies based on this, but I will also keep an eye out for if things aren't materializing the way he projects. The main negative I have with this booklet is it is very repetitious. 5 stars (Fascinating) - More than ever, a degree in economics is required in order to make sense of the macroeconomic forces shaping our world. 2 stars (Nothing is roaring, DJI has been flat since 2001) - Dow Jones is still going through its major corrections after the roaring 80s and then the 90s. We are experiencing the same cylical phase that happened in the 70s - when war, energy crises, international market expansions, and demographic changes were gradually driving the economy to a malaise. The main difference is that the country was in little debt 30 years ago. We are now owing other countries trillions of dollars, and the trade deficit will continue to soar. The economy may sink as a result, but it has nothing to do with bubble bursting. That was already done in the stock market years ago. Should the economy finally collapse, it will have to do with our structural economic problems. Most probably prefer a soft-landing rather than a hard collapse. It will take some sacrifice and some political leadership to achieve a peaceful and endurable transition. It will be about our committment to paying down the debt, ending our oil dependence, and educating the workforce to take on the jobs of the new century that are not to be "outsourced" to other places. 5 stars (Amazing Collection of Photographs) - Ms. Blumenthal says she has done a world history, and a story beginning 30,000 (or so) years ago and going through 2004's best musical on Broadway, 'Avenue Q.' She covers virtually every culture in almost every time with an amazing selection of photographs. She combines this with interviews, stories and descriptions of puppeteers. She describes all of the wide variety of puppet shows brought about by the advent of television, some of which are still on the air. Part of her discussion is on the way that puppets can be used to show/discuss things that wouldn't be allowed in other ways. Politics, for instance is different when a puppet is making the remarks about your leader. And of course sex has long been a staple of puppet shows. She has a picture of the romantically challenged Miss Piggy delivering an illustrated lecture on ideal frog physique. If puppets are your thing, you'll find nothing better than this book. 5 stars (Excellent book on the history of puppets!) - This is one of those luscious, lavishly illustrated coffee-table books that doll and puppet aficionados will drool over before shelling out $65 to obtain a coveted copy. Within the 272 pages, artistic as well as historic photography of puppets dating from antiquity to modern times chronicle the history of this captivating art form. The accompanying text is scholarly, but approachable and easy to read. The history of this art form is fascinating, really. The author structures her massive effort into chapters detailing the history of puppets, types of puppets, and uses for puppets, including sex acts, illustrations for violent stories, and political commentary, as well as public service (Sesame Street), and ventures into the spirit world. I love her opening statement: "They can be gods, idiots, or worms. They are able to nurture children or terrify adults. They survive indefinitely without normal biological aging but also can die and come back to life agai... 5 stars (A Gorgeous Book Commemorating America's 1st Public Park) - Commemorating the 150th anniversary of Central Park, photographer and historian Sara Cedar Miller celebrates the aesthetic, cultural and historic significance of America's first public park with the book "Central Park, An American Masterpiece." This is the park's definitive illustrated history, and offers some of the most gorgeous photographs I have seen on the subject - a difficult task given the number of pictures that have been drawn, painted and photographed of the Manhattan landmark. The book includes over 200 color illustrations, original plans and drawings alongside modern photos, giving the viewer/reader an historical perspective. Accompanying Ms. Miller's work, portraying the park throughout the seasons, is a well written text which highlights the conception and creation of the park and its art and architecture. This is a big, beautiful picture book that would make a wonderful addition to any home or library. It's a wonderful gift idea. I know as I have given it numerous times. Ms. Miller is the parks official historian and photographer and has been since the mid-1980s. JANA 5 stars (A book as worthy as the park it celebrates) - Sara Miller has put together an outstanding book: a book as vast and detailed as the Great Park itself. For those not familiar with the park and its history, this is an invaluable introduction to the political, demographical, economic and, especially, aesthetic thinking that went into the creation of 800 acres of gorgeous park space in the middle of Manhattan. For those seasoned veterans of NYC history, this is a welcome reminder of the enormous vision and efforts of Calvert Vaux and Fredrick Law Olmsted, as they conceived the park. Nota Bene: A lot of books have gorgeous photos but the print job is miserable ... Others have high-qualtity prints but the photos aren't that interesting ... This book has glorious prints and an expert print job. Pick up this book. Rocco... 4 stars (Goblet of Fire for XBox) - With stunning graphics and creative challenges and environments, Goblet of Fire captures attention right from the start. Taking advantage of the multiplayer format, you can play with up to two of your friends. So much more than experiencing the excitement of the game together, EA has made a truly cooperative experience, with the ability to combine your magics for new and more interesting effects! Some excellent AI keeps a single-player from losing the rest of the trio, without having to mind them at every turn (though they do the occasional annoying or harmful thing). A change in format from the previous games, almost all "levels" (such as Hogwart's grounds, or one of the Triwizard tasks) are accessable from the main screen (a Pensive), to which you return after every sucessful venture. While, in my opinion, this takes away from the Role-Playing aspect of the game, it enhances gameplay in other ways. One can, just as easily, play through the game quickly as spend hours upon hours discovering every little nuance. In this, as in many other similar things, EA did an excellent job of recognizing their teen and young adult (and not-so-young adult) audience, and trying to balance that with the expectation that Harry Potter is for children. That said, however, there are a few things I dislike about the game. The "camera angle" in many parts of the game is annoying, if not downright frustrating. As I mentioned previously, the "feel" of the game is a lot farther from Role-Playing that what I've come to expect from the Harry Potter series (you can't endlessly play in Hogwart's castle, as you could before). While involving less fuss than before, I disliked the "intuitive" spell-casting (the spell used is determined by what you're casting at), and the less-clearly defined meaning of how to cast a spell "perfectly" (which gains the player rewards). I'd also like to register my complaint that none of our young wizards-and-witches-in... 5 stars (The Greatest Game Ever Played) - I love this book. I am a woman over 60 who started playing golf 8 years ago. I have achieved a 17 handicap and realize how tough this game. The Greatest Game is a marvelous account of real people, playing a grueling game. I have just spent 4 days playing BAndon Dunes. This is akin to the era of The Greatest Game. I can't wait for the movie. 5 stars (Golf history is great!) - This is a must read for anyone wanting to know about the early history of American golf. This book is soon to come out in a movie - so I would read it as soon as you can! 5 stars (The greatest book about the greatest game) - Frost's account may not be truly be about the "birth of modern golf" but it certainly recounts the beginning of the popularity, if not the ascendency, of golf in the United States. The portraits of the characters in this saga, from Vardon, to Ouimet and even Eddy Lowry made vivid the explicit details of the critical rounds played on those hallowed Country Club grounds. It was golf history in the style and scholarship of Barbara Tuchman. A fabulous read for any with a passion for history and golf, even if you have never been interested in the history of golf. You will be interested ever after you read this book, and waiting eagerly for Frost's account-sequel of the greatest amateur to play the game. ...
