5 stars (The greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino) - The Greatest Salesman in the World is an uplifting, motivating and inspiring book on sales and salesmanship. The author presents principles of good salesmanship in the form of a fascinating story which make it easy and interesting to remember the important principles. He does this through simple and direct parables which are woven into a profound story, with clever plot twists to explain the 10 principles for successful salesmanship as well as success in life. I loved to read the book because it is small and can be read and finished in a couple of hours and yet leave one with a deep impression. The book is recommended for beginners and veterans in the profession of selling. 1 stars (The only great salesman is the author) - An old rich merchant from the Bible times tries to pass on his secret to success. That "secret" is written in 10 ancient strolls who were given to him by another rich merchant before he died. These tips to accumulate wealth are nothing but cheap self-improvement-new-age advice that have nothing to do with business. For example, in the stroll marked 1, you can read: "Today I will savor the taste of grapes from these vines and verily I will swallow the seed of success buried in each and new life will sprout within me". The stroll marked 2 starts with this sentence: "I will greet this day with love in my heart" and number 4 begins with "I am nature's greatest miracle". This is the kind of insights you may expect from any book but a one called "The greatest salesman in the world". And it is so short: only 111 pages of really big print. If you want to read these kind of books, but written by good authors, please refer to Paulo Coelho. 5 stars (A very Powerful Book!) - The Greatest Salesman in The World is a classic case of not judging the quality of a book by it's size. This slim little book initially doesn't appear to be much or have much information. But once applied, it is powerful. ...

The Great Divorce

3 stars ( The Great Divorce ) - As C.S. Lewis' books go I think that this is not his best book by far. I would recommend reading some of his other works before this because if I had not of known of his amazing writing I would have forever considered him a terrible writer after reading this book. 5 stars (Truly Inspired!) - In this brilliant work of fiction, C.S. Lewis brings amazing clarity and light to universal truths that we can all identify with, but few of us ever fully grasp. I have gained a whole new perspective on a question that has, thus far, plagued my Christian walk: "Why is it that something that is so clear and painfully obvious to a Christian, is so extremely difficult to convince to an unbeliever?". As plainly as Truth stares us in the face, it's difficult to comprehend why others so easilly overlook it, while vituperating us "brain-washed" Christians. After reading this book, I am finally beginning to better understand the paradox. The truth is that, on some level, everyone sees the Truth. Many are just unwilling to let go of what they have come to embrace in this world. The meaning they have been able to build for themselves, and control on their terms, has become more presious to them than the Truth, and more desirable than true Joy. If their chosen lives were taken away from them, they would be miserable with Truth. One line from the story sums it all up. It comes directly after the most oft quoted phrase from the book ("...Thy will be done."): "All that are in Hell, choose it. Without that self-choice there could be no Hell.". This is NOT to say that Evangelism should stop. By no means! We just need to learn when it's time to stop and move on to another. We can't make the choice for them. We are called to sow. The Chronicles of Narnia

1 stars (Don't be so silly) - This book is silly. Fancy positing the idea that a lion rules the land. It's almost as silly as this book I read the other day about a man who does magic tricks and then people get suspicious of him so they kill him but then he comes back as a zombie, a nice zombie, he doesn't eat brains or anything and then he flies off home. The lion in this story has been compared to him I believe... 5 stars (Good clean fun!) - I enjoyed the stories again after 30 years between the first read. 4 stars (Fantasy for Children at it's best!) - I wanted to purchase the Chronicles not because of the upcoming film series (Come On, you know Disney will #$@? it up)...but to read to my child. Reading them again to him has shown me just how deceptively complex the stories are; and what is amazing is how moral and civil lessons, in true Christian sense, are taught and exemplified by the children's adventures: Most importantly is the ideal of forgiveness; which is the core of Christianity but which seems to have been forgotten, particularly by the right-wing lunatics who I am appalled by hearing themselves called Christians...children of Mammon, perhaps, but Christians? Riiiight. Anyway, this edition is wonderful, I gave it four out of five stars for one flaw, which is the type-setting. It seems alot of the page-breaks were left in, resulting in one sentence being cut almost half a page early, and continued below it, as well as a few words which are still hyphenated but shouldn't be as they are in the midst of a line, and not the end of the margins. Nonetheless, the binding is great, sturdy and heavy, which has not been the case with all my hard-bound books of late. This is definately a volume I would recommend, and excellent to keep for the grandchildren and so forth, on your best shelf. It is nice that it contains all of the original art, and the stories are placed in the order the author intended. Fantastic. ...

5 stars (The Complete Chronicles of Narnia) - What a way to lose oneself! I felt like a kid again while reading and completely got caught up in all of the adventure and excitement of Narnia. I look forward to sharing these stories with my kids when they get a little bit older. 4 stars (Excellent entertainment for all ages) - I purchased this set for my 10 yr old grandson and just had to read them first. Am so glad I did. The books kept me enthralled one after the other. I cannot wait for my grandson to read them now so that we can share the fun. These books stretch the imagination and they have under-lying morals and good attitudes as well. I highly recommend them to all. 5 stars (Complete Chronicles of Narnia) - Seven books by C.S. Lewis all in one book. Great for young readers and those who like to dream. ...

5 stars (Great Reading and Great Readers) - This is a wonderful set for the whole family. We have enjoyed each book, read by different people, very much. Where we live, we must drive quite often, so the children and I are enjoying each story and the various readers, who lend their talents to each tale. 5 stars (Incredible) - Such a wonderful series of books. Great reading (listening) for any age. Takes you right into the tale C S Lewis has created. The Red Tent

3 stars (Just okay for me) - I liked the idea of expanding on Dina's story. However, the content was sometimes a little to personal, at times gross, for me. I was also taken aback when I saw how much Diamante deviates from the actual text. This is not just an expansion of the story, but sometimes was outright false. A good story if not taken literally. 5 stars (Under a Wonderful Tent) - In terms of plot and charcter development, this book was wonderful. Based on charcters of the bible, the story explores the lives of the women in the bible which we never really got to know. Diamant has created a wonderful story about the women of biblical times, our fore-mothers Rebecca, Sarah, Rachel, and Leah, from Dinah's point of view. However, it is not any way offense to men. You need not be familiar with the bible to enjoy this book. If you are, you'll certainly recognize stories and characters from the old testament. Another work of fiction I might suggest that explores women and their stake in the Christian faith is John Mackowicz's The Last Martyr. With a similar theme, it portrays women in a positive light. 5 stars (A Terrrific Read) - This book is a story of Dinah, a character from the old testament that we know little about. It is the story of her life and her family in biblical times. There were things I didn't know about really, like the multiple wives and marrying close relatives. But it was in some ways very romantic, and sometimes heartbreaking. Dinah was a very strong woman. Also, I learned alot about what it was like for women when men were in charge of everything. But women were still a mystery to men, and what went on in the red tent was only for women to know. I really liked this book, it was hard for me to put it down once I started. ...
