1 stars (unlike any pc game) - this review is for pc version basically the game lacked any customization. but my biggest problem with this game is its camera system. You don't have free third person camera. The game is only top view similiar to RTS games. There are a lot of things missing in this game 1- camera is not what used to be ( previous harry potter games had mouse/camera free movement). 2- no mouse support 3- no video settings 4- no audio settings 5- no key reassignment. ... 5 stars (Madden Excels Yet Again) - Madden has improved upon its already top-ranked video football game product in a multitude of ways to ease gameplay and improve the playing experience. The new passing cone, while tricky to master, provides a new level of strategy for experts and novices alike. I heartily reccomend this excellent time spending game and can only hope that others derive as much enjoyment from this game as I do. 4 stars (Madden just got a lot better) - Wow, I am deeply impressed with the new QB vision mode. It makes it so your QB cant roll 10 yards back and just heave a cannon to the end of the field when your on your 40. You have to lock on your vision control onto the player and then you can throw an accurate pass. The only bad thing about it is that you get rushed too soon. I think they should have the defense come in a second later because of this new change cause it takes time to look off the defenders. Another new addition is the NFL Superstar mode where you can take the life of an NFL QB, take an IQ test to decide where you will be drafted, answer interviews and play cameos in movies. Beyond this its basically just like playing a season. They didnt put very much time into that new aspect. Other than this it is just another episode of the Madden series. Which is good because i'm hooked on it. Good to see Madden improved upon the dreadful 2005 game. Go out and buy it but you might want to rent it first because not everyone likes it 4 stars (comparsion to other games) - Madden 2006 is by far the best football game yet to be released. The new features blow the old versions out of the water. The game is now more realistic and fun with the addition of QB passer vision, and the NFL superstar mode. The ability of being able to sprint with the QB behind the line of scrimmage now is now a feature making the game run more smoothly as well. The addition of QB passer vision, which is the line of sight the QB can see, was a great idea since it adds mor... 5 stars (THE MOST WONDERFUL GAME EVER) - If my typing is a little lagging, please forgive me, I was up all night playing "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." Without doubt, the best game I have ever played. The graphics were so good that it was almost like being at Hogwarts. The snap-scene from the sixth book (where you get to be Snape killing Dumbledore) is the best moment of any game I've ever played, though Dumbledore is my favorite character. I was a little dissappointed that the plot of the seventh book was revealed by entrance to a hidden passage (near the portrait of the Buddhist-looking nuns on the fifth floor). It was the best thirty-second birthday present ever. I go to school in a small town in New York and all my first period studyhall teacher talked about the whole period was how good the game was and that's all everyone else has been talking about since. We're a little obsessed (this is coming from a person who has Harry Potter tattooed across his back). THE BEST GAME EVER. Buy it. Period. ... 5 stars (Simsational!) - In truth, The Sims 2 is the best PC game ever. I was a HUGE fan of the original Sims, and it was my favorite game for quite awhile. However, I recently aquired The Sims 2 , and I must say, I was so excited over it I couldn't sleep. It is a grand improvement over the original, and it opened my eyes to the number of flaws that the first Sims game had. Quite honestly, I don't know if I'll ever be able to play it again. Here are just a few of the high points: ~In The Sims 2 , players have an incredibly large, extensive amount of features, clothes, hairstyles, etc. to choose from when they create their Sim. I'm not even going to compare it to the original because, well, it just doesn't compare! ~The addition of family trees and life cycles was what excited me most about this game, and quite frankly, it is the one thing that makes this game totally worth your money, in my opinion. Sims now age from baby to toddler to kid to teen to adult to elder, where they will eventually pass on to to old age, depending on there aspiration level. It's a great joy to see your Sims start out as babies and end up as successful, married adults, and I was just as proud of my Sims as I would be with my own child...not that I would know anything about that. ~Aspirations and fears give the game a whole new meaning. Your Sims can have one of five different aspirations: Wealth, Romance, Family, Knowledge, and Popularity. Depending on which of these your Sim has, they will have different lifetime hopes and fears, which change periodically. When an aspiration is realized, Sims gain reward points that they can use to buy cool things; when a fear is realized, however, Sims lose reward points. ~The Build/Buy options are FAR more improved. Now you can make homes that have more than three stories, change the appearance of that ugly blue bed, create mountains, lakes, whatever! ~The neighborhood options are different too. Choose from playing in Pleasantview,... Electronic Arts :: the :: sims :: 2 :: electronic :: arts :: games :: kids :: thesims2 14 september :: 2 :: The Sims 2
5 stars (Awesome!) - This game is the best of the best. There are many new objects and activities; too many to list. Between driving their own car and bowling, there is not enough hours in the day for my sims to maintain relationships or work. LOL! The best part is the increased control over your date when you are out together. This is a must-have game for anyone who loves the sims! 5 stars (OMGOMGOMG!!!~shauna~) - im not really under 13 but ya. okay i just got the sims 2 nightlife a week ago and it's been awesome. some people were saying that it was lame, really slow, and had lots of bugs. i was wondering whether or not i should install it, because my computer is already slow at loading the game, i don't want to make it even SLOWER. but i took the risk and installed it. boy was that a good idea! this game rox my sox! so far, no problems! the game hasn't had any bugs (knocks on wood) and seems to even LOAD faster (knocks on wood again). okay well lemme tell u bout some of the awesome features! they have cars! sure there's only five different cars to chose from (a crappy small one, a truck, a mini van, a sports car, and a compact), but the paint jobs make it all worth it! they have awesome paint jobs too, or in my opinion anyways ;). uhhhhhh, the new clothes. if there's a part of expansions i look most forward to, it has to be the clothes. the adult girls have the best selection. they are suhweet! really awesome dresses. there is some gay-ish clothes for the guys, tho. like electric colored vests.. kinda weird :D. the fact that they can have dates! i made two people, and had them go on dates, and now they're married! they've already gone on 4 or 5 dates, and all of them have been dream dates too, which is awesome. they have some really funny options when you're dining out: play: throw food, steal a bite Flirt: feed a bite, caress hand Kiss: blow a kiss... if you're in a booth: those plus Hot Kiss, and Love Talk. there's lots more things... 3 stars (Considerable Expansion Pack for Pet Lovers) - With this expansion pack installed, you will see some pets in your neighborhood. Once in several days, you'll meet not only street cats and dogs, but also some skunk! Having animals around is not always a good thing. You will have more things to do at home. Cleaning up their poo, bathing them, expense more on their food, etc. While keeping a pet at home could means more trouble, you'll have some advantages on them. If you have a dog, you can have your daily newspaper brought in your house by your dog. Or if you pet a cat, you'll see that cockroaches around the corner aren't there anymore (yes, your cat eat them up!). With this expansion pack installed, you will be able to pet a dog, cat, fish, bird, iguana, etc. When you buy a dog or cat, you can choose its colour and name it. You should buy toys and other tools for your pet. Of course you cannot make your cat sleep in a bird's cage. What is more, you'll see that your neighborhood is enlarged! You will have more lots to be built. Either as a house, or as a common place for you to visit (you can build shops, pets shop, etc) As I don't really like pets and I am disturbed by those wild animals around my house, I don't like this expansion pack very much. I would prefer buying another expansion pack for this game such as Superstar or Makin' Magic. 5 stars (please help) - i want get a sims game but my mom thinks its bad. what is there in the game and what certain age do you have to be? i hope you guys help me. if you do put your title as problem for help. thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou bye :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) 5 stars (A great game overall) - This game is a lot more fun that the Deluxe Edition because you actually get to go out of the house and to shop. You can buy pets and meet new people at the shops. You also get to create new stores, like pet stores, dog and cat adoption centers, gardening shops, food shops. The neighborhoods ... 4 stars (Fun, but overall...) - Now, don't get me wrong here. Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth is a very pleasing, eye-catching game that can keep one entertained for quite a long time. But if you choose to venture on a campaign, after returning to your computer to play a bit more again and again, you'll begin to notice that the game starts to become more and more repetitive as you progress. In the game, your goals are very simple: Build some places, nab some resources, beat the stuffing out of people who get into your way. The variation in scenery and in different battalions is pleasing and adds to the eyecandy of the game, but eyecandy doesn't make the playing much more fun - thus, even in the larger, more exciting battles, I began to get bored as the game progressed. Overall, the game will be a great enjoyment for hardcore LOTR fans, but for people who aren't as attatched to the series, it may be a bit of a disappointment - especially considering the heavy price. If you love games with fancy graphics and heaps of battle events, though, it's worth the $40 dollars you'll spend on it. 3 stars (Great Singleplayer, Lackluster Multiplayer / Replayability) - If you're looking at this game for the single player campaign, you won't be disappointed. It's fun and pretty lengthy. The graphics and the combat are all superb, as is the storyline and voice acting, much of which is done by the actors from the movies. However, this game has two faults: 1) Replayability. There really isn't any. It's a shame because with the "Risk-style" overhead map of middle earth, they could have turned this into some sort of large scale strategy wargame without much more effort. Instead, it's a fairly linear game and once you've played it through once there's not much point in playing it through again. So the campaign is long and fun but replayability is low. 2) Multiplayer isn't that great. I'll go into some depth on this: Multiplayer will seem fun at first. It's wel... 5 stars (pretty darn good) - This is a good expansion pack... the Challenge mode is very cool... you pick the personality of your general, then you pick the personality of the general you want to fight against. When then game begins, you can hear the general from the other team laughing at your mistakes, and he's usually right. Very interesting and fun to play. Don't play this game on a night before you have to go to work, because you will probably lose track of time by having such a blast. But there is a downside... The user interface is still the same old interface that takes up too much space on the screen. And perhaps most annoying: Any time you get a mission report, you have to wait and wait and wait to see the pop-up descriptions when you are trying to chose which unit(s) you want to build. And speaking of waiting... if you want to restart a mission, you have to sit through the introduction video, and you can't skip past it. Hopefully the next version of C&C will fix these oversights. 4 stars (Wonderful endeed but...) - Anyone who bought and enjoyed the original CandC: Generals won't go far wrong doing the same again with this expansion. Your money buys you another 15 single player missions all complete with new units, a `challenge' scenario where you can choose a general that suits your style of play and put him up against 8 others as well as the usual skirmish and multiplay modes. The graphics and sound are excellent, as could be expected from a developer of this pedigree, with the cut scenes giving a truly professional feel to the whole experience. Explosions and animation are superb, I particularly like the way bodies fly through the air as a bunker is blown up, and the screams of anguish as troopers die a painful chemical death never fails to bring a smile (I know, I'm a sick git). Gameplay is fluid, albeit a little slow in places, while it should also be noted that he who rules the skies, wins (99 times out of 100 anyway). The GLA missions a... 4 stars (Must Have) - For Harry Potter Fans a complete pack of the games to date...i loved playing them and can't wait for HP4 game to arrive 5 stars (Awesome entertainment value, great for kids and adults who play along with them) - My 7 year old daughter and I have been searching for a good computer game to play ever since we finished up 101 Dalmations on the PC more than a year ago. I've read her the first three Harry Potter books, and then discovered this collection. It is a big winner. You get four different games (which each originally sold for the cost of this collection, or more). We finished the Sorcerers Stone in about two weeks of evening play. It has plenty of play value to get us to go back, mainly to find the hidden secrets we did not find the first time, and to play some better games of Quiddich. We have just begun playing the Chamber of Secrets. Everything about this one is an upgrade from Sorcerer's Stone: smoother play, more spells, more hidden areas, new activities, new features. We are enjoying it immensely. Some kids are game fanatics, and can handle the controls alone. Another reviewer was correct, a game controller makes these much easier. My daughter and I share the controls when we play together. In these games, she takes the mouse to cast spells and direct Harry's point of view, I work the arrow keys to move us around. We have quite a lot of fun together this way. The games feature the same story line and content as the books. Expect the same (very low) violence level as the books. So I'm giving this bundle 5 stars based on just games. Heck, I would have given it 4 stars for the Sorcerer's Stone alone, or 5 stars for the Chamber of Secrets alone. This is a super value. 4 stars (Great for ages 12 and below) - Some interesting puzzles and basically user friendly. My grand kids and I play it alot. ... 3 stars (Another EA arcade-ish hockey excursion) - For a good while now, every NHL game to come from Electronic Arts has focused more on an arcade-like presentation than a truer sim, while the rival 2K series (originally from Sega) provided a more authentic hockey video game. NHL 2006 continues EA's arcade-ish take on the NHL, and longtime fans of the series who have grown accustomed to this will find little to nitpick here, and they will also find that little has changed as well with the game's presentation. The graphics are super smooth (better than NHL 2K6's) and the controls are easy to get a hold of, but the announcers are repetitive and annoying, and they always seem to get to the action a little slow. The freedom allowed in the standard feature of creating players is better than in previous installments, and as a whole NHL 2006 is a nice package. However, the choice between NHL 2006 and the cheaper priced NHL 2K6 is entirely up to you and how you like your video game hockey, but if you're on a budget and want a more realistic NHL experience, stick with 2K6. 2 stars (A Whole Year Off to Work on This?) - I'm giving this game two overall stars. Those stars represent graphics and being able to switch rosters around without connecting to the internet. This game severly lacks playability. Graphics aside, you would never know that you were playing hockey. Controls are silly and you never get the feeling of being 'in control' offensively or defensively. Checking (along with all else) rarely results in a turnover making on ice play resemble something closer to PONG rather than hockey. My best advice, go after NHL 2k6 and hook up to the internet or get a AR to download the new roster changes. If you prefer to watch the pretty graphics rather than play, this game is for you, but I really think your time would be better spent at a museum or something. This game is terrible. 3 stars (Very fun game, BUT...) - This is a fun game with great graphics. I've p... 2 stars (Broken for high-end ATI cards.) - Well Madden is my favourite PC game. I invariably buy it the first day of its release every year and play it till mastery. Madden 2005 was a substantial improvement over 2004. It offered decent defense and it was possible to stop the ridiculous long bomb issue that plagued 2004. 2006 on the surface seems to offer a great deal more depth it terms of gameplay than before. The precision passing thing is a great addition. Making it harder to score was also the most challenging thing. Previous games were too easy as once you knew the plays you could advance the ball upfield unhindered. However there are some significant hurdles to be overcome before you can get to the goodness underneath. The key mapping is just horrid and there is no way on the PC of remapping them. I use a Logitech Wingman Rumblepad Cordless and in order to change the precision passing receiver that you are locked on to prior to the snap you need to hold "A" and then press the key of the receiver that you want to lock on to pre-snap. This is ridiculous. If you have to press two keys at once they need to be on different sides of the gamepad - this is how they work. Alas not in Madden 2006, you need to hold multiple buttons down with the same finger. However an even greater issue is the performance problems with ATI cards and high end systems. This issues appeared in MVP baseball as well and has now hit Madden as well. There are entire online debates about the issue. Basically on a high end system with ATI cards you get excessive stuttering during gameplay. It doesn't matter wether you turn off compression in the options or not, though this helps, it doesn;t matter if you play it in 640x480 or 1600x1200 the stuttering continues. You can tried the Catalyst 5.6, 5.7, 5.8 drivers it doesn't make any difference, I even tried the zeropoint drivers. Also I tried adjusting the PCI latency values. After two weeks of perservering I am resolved to the fact that the game i... Electronic Arts :: Football :: Sports Simulators (Simulation) :: Computer Games :: :: Madden NFL 2006
5 stars (A great addition to the Sims 2!) - I was not very excited when I bought this game, but now I see that I should have been. The Sims 2 University is great! There are lots of new things you can do with your sims. So here are the pros and cons: Pros 1. Having been playing this game for about 3 months, I haven't noticed any glitches other than the usual Sims 2 glitches (freezing, etc.) 2. Sending your sims to college is surprisingly easy. As long as they have some skills that they have built from childhood, they progress rapidly through the eight semesters. Once they graduate, it is much easier to get them good jobs and thus you are much more able to fulfill their aspirations. 3. Your sims now have "Lifetime Aspirations". These aspirations are linked to their normal aspirations (Family, Knowledge, etc.) and are usually quite difficult to fulfill. For example, a family lifetime aspiration might be "Have six children get married" and a knowledge lifetime aspiration might be "Max out 6 skills". These aspirations are difficult, but add more interest to the game, so that all your knowledge sims, for instance, don't have the exact same lives. Once you have achieved the lifetime aspiration, your sim remains on platinum aspiration for the rest of his/her lifetime. (You can still earn aspiration points, though.) 4. There are lots of new objects, including the instruments (guitar, bass, drum kit, etc.) and a few extra rewards such as the plastic surgery kit and the cash machine. Cons 1. Sending your sims to college is fun, but it takes quite a long time for them to graduate. While it's not very difficult for them to pass all their tests, it is time consuming. 2. I was disappointed to learn that the NPC's still don't grow up with your sims. (I'm quite tired of having all my teenage sims fall in love with the same boys who will never grow up. Peter Pan, anyone?) 3. Your sims cannot join a band, but if you have more than one instrument you can ask another sim to "Join" and... 2 stars (seems fifa is making each of its sequel worst than before) - the video has minor glitches.the ball and players move slowly.its a pain to get a goal.it just wansn;t right.i didn't like anything in this game 3 stars (Arcade version, not a simulation) - If you want to play football without much control depth then choose this over the European "Pro Evolution Soccer 4" (title is "Winning 11" in the US) and if you have heard the buzz surrounding that game then you should know that it is in the top three sports simulations of all time. Winning 11 however is not an out-of-box game, taking days to learn, weeks to master and then improve on with other players. FIFA works straight out of box, is easy, but its limits become all too obvious in light on Winning 11, a game has been in development since the Nintendo 64 and is easily the best soccer engine out there. The bottom line is that if you want a soccer game that works out of box, that you can play almost right away with anybody, then FIFA has it. If you want a real soccer sim that takes longer to get into but is far better, then choose Winning 11. 4 stars (Fifa 2005) - Fifa 2005 is very simialar to Fifa 2004. But there are differences between the two. I really like 2005 more for the reasons that the new style is really cool. The music in the game is killer [they went for a more international music approach, rather than just the American music scene], and there is a visible differnece in the graphics upgrade. Basically, its an updated version of 2004. However, I bought this just for the hell of it, but 2005 doesnt come anywhere close to Winning Eleven 7. I bought Winning Eleven 8 recently, but it was in Japanese, but the gameplay is so much better. In F2005, no matter how many times you press sprint, the players just move so slow. The stadiums itselfs are not very lively, [i only saw one flag waving in the enitre crowd]. I bought 2005 mainly because I lost Winning Eleven 7, but Fifa 2005 is still pretty worth the ... 2 stars (I demand a remake!) - Quiddich, though only imaginative, is an incredible sport in concept. I was practically compelled to buy the game because of visions I had of the possibilities there, even though the reviews were lackluster. Well, turns out people were right. The passing and shooting is oversimplified, the 3D element is completely absent, and its a little too easy to steal the quaffle (i.e. the ball.) The bludgers and beaters (bat-weilding players hitting heavy balls at enemy players) were handled fairly well. The vying for special moves by accomplishing certain goals in a match is a nice touch, but another reviewer hit a chord when they compared their vision of a Quiddich video game with Madden Football. Let players compete at Hogwarts, Club (Professional), or World Cup difficulty, and let them handle the recruiting and management of a team (or even let players you had at Hogwarts play on your pro club when you move to the next level.) Let the flying be more 3 dimensional, with the chance to play as any position all the time instead of just chasers, and you could have a game that redefines sports gaming. Right now, its just a cheap shot by E.A. Games at all us Quiddich dreamers out there. $10? Yeah, its worth about that much. 2 stars (For the wee ones) - I agree with most of the other reviewers here: This game was clearly designed for younger kids, with the fun, eye-candy set high and any possible frustration kept to a minimum. It's clear that EA Games just adapted a soccer-game engine, trying to minimize the three-dimensional nature of Quidditch. That, combined with the utterly predictable AI system, makes it possible for an adult player to WIPE THE FLOOR with any and all comers. It's aggravating, really: It's not likely that there will be another version of this game made for adults with, say, an AI system worthy of the name. And EA games could have so easily created a workable 3D flying system--just use the usual WASD/three-button mouse ... 5 stars (Awesome value!) - I bought all 3 games as they came out, but if you haven't even gotten one yet, I reccommend you pick this up, especially if you love FPS games. Allied Assault is a terrific single player and multiplayer game. The single player mission is pretty long with great graphics, sound, and some really awesome scenery. The sound of wind blowing, snow falling, dogs barking in the distance, and, well, everything is great about the game. the on-line side has many different modes of play (especially mods) and is exremely fun. It is still one of the top 5 games played on-line. Spearhead gives you more maps and skins, and a very good though short single player mission. Breakthrough is more of the same: Very good (but short) single player mission, more skins, more weapons, and more maps. There is also a very cool (at least i liked it) game mode call liberation where you get put in jail when you die and your remaining teammates try to free you until everyone from one team is dead. All in all, you can't beat this for the price they are charging. An awesome deal. 5 stars (Still not sick of it) - Been playing Medal of Honor for about 2 years and Im still playing it regularly thanks to the multiplayer and extra maps in the expansion packs. One of the better multiplayer games IMO and proves you dont need the latest and greatest graphics, its all about the gameplay. 4 stars (Great) - Pretty good game. Graphics in Allied Assault are older, but the expansion packs are excellent. I would also recommend the Multiplayer part of either Spearhead or Breakthrough. It's a really fun game and I highly recommend it to all WW2 buffs, and Video Game buffs. ... 5 stars (Best original Sim game!) - If you've never experienced a Sim game, this is the place to start! Original and clever it will always be considered a classic! 4 stars (A good game!) - In the Sims Deluxe I liked it better and worse than the regular sims. I liked it better because there were more interesting things to buy and do. I liked it worse because it wasn't as easy as the sims. For example, in THE SIMS I made a boyfriend who was a negative to my sign of the zodiac. But now I have so many things to do. I do recommend this though ;) 1 stars (Dont waste your money) - First, Let me say, the reason I gave this a 1 star rating isnt the game itself, I havent gotten to play it yet! Not from this disc. I ordered it brand new, it was delivered, I unwrapped it, and tried to install it. The serial # EA GAMES printed on it (which you have to have to install it on your computer), is invalid!!!! And, I cant get an answer from their tech support/customer service on this. I have found others who have bought this version with the exact same problem. If you can get this in a jewel case, good. It seems when they come in the case shown on this page, the serial #'s wont work, and you have to go through a huge hassel to get it fixed. ***This is not an amazon problem, it is an EA GAMES problem ...
