1 stars (The jury is still out on this one) - I've been very happy with the security package, but installing took days. Even the updates are slow. My computer has been slower since installing this program. I might have been better off getting Norton. This program offered free telephone service for problems and Norton charges for each call. 5 stars (Finally, an affordable easy-to-use all-in-one solution) - After years using first McAfee then Norton, I finally found a solid alternative. Trend Micro's PC-cillin is comprehensive PC protection that's easy to use, affordable and doesn't prevent critical applications from running as they were meant to -- and costs less than it's counterparts. Gone are the many many pesky "alerts" from Norton's security product (that, at times, a user has no idea how to answer and, if answered wrong, some things don't even work anymore). I've happily made the switch and I'll never go back again. 5 stars (Switched from Norton, McAfee and ZoneLabs) - I decided to standardize on a single anti-virus/firewall solution for the three computers in our house. This fit the bill. First, the competitive rebate makes it very affordable. They also offer a home three-pack, which costs what two individual licenses would. Second, the impact on my systems seems very negligible - I can't notice a performance difference when it's turned on or off. Third, using their Home Network feature you can manage installations of the product on other computer on your network. So I can administer all three of my computers without running around the house. Fourth, the firewall allows you to configure the types of access that are permitted (unlike the free ZoneAlarm firewall, which makes you explicitly permission each program you want in/out access). Nero 6 Ultra Edition All-in-One Digital Media Solution

1 stars (Nero 6 is junk) - I'm not an idiot, but I can't make nero 6 ultimate edition do anything. The photo viewer tells me it has errors and won't run...can't make it copy my photo files. Arrrrghhhh. 5 stars (Great) - I was at the right place at the right time.What I mean is I installed a new CD/DVD rom on my computer.Then started searching for burning software.That's when I came across the Nero6 ultra edition 6.6.It was on sale for 39$ plus tax.What a surprise when I installed it.It's loaded with everything and then some.I burned some cd's right away at lighting speed.There's alot of features I still have to learn.I'm an amateur at this but it seems easy enough to understand.I got lucky what can I say.Highly recommended. 4 stars (Good product, slow customer service) - I had some problems with Nero when I first got it that ended up being a problem with the driver for my DVD writer. 1 stars (Norton Internet Security is a complete waste of time & money.) - I purchased Norton and I have always used Norton as my anti-virus and firewall. I purchased Norton (again) last year and will not be renewing my subscription this year. This product is a joke. It completely slows down my laptop without reason (laptop is a high end IBM), it sends out a million messages for no apparent reasons and keeps asking to be un-installed and re-installed because one function or another is not working. Symantec really need to fix this software or lose all their customers. 2 stars (The anti-virus component might be OK, but the rest is buggy.) - Norton anti-virus at some point was the best anti-virus program, then it started going down hill and especially when they bundled this other useless (trash-ware) Internet security components. I am an above average computer user. This product is not worth the money. It is probably best to spend the money on just the anti-virus alone if that is still any good. When I installed this program it slowed down my 550 MHz system. If I try to send an email with an attachment it timed out (poor programing) because it scans the outgoing mail and it is also supposed to "train" its anti-spam engine, which is by the way useless, a simple OE filter catches more spam than it ever hopes to. I have DSL so it is not a bandwidth or timeout issue like Symantec would like you to believe, it is simply that Norton acts as the mail server for your email client but acts less than that due to poor or incomplete programing. Symantec's website is not much help on this big defect in the program. The solution that I discovered after days of trial and error is to disable the scanning of the outgoing email all together, this applies to the email scanning of outgoing messages and the filtering/training in the anti-spam options (so much for paying the extra for the Internet security features that have to be disabled in most cases unless you are just sending ...

1 stars (Dont waste your money) - It seems to protect my computer alright. However I constantly have problems when I startup. It has problems updating, and constantly says my user ID is incorrect. However when I restart several times this gets straight. Also I have to turn off the firewall each time I log on to Hotmail and some other webpages since I still havent figured out how to allow them. Also the parental controls are total crap. It would be nice if it would block what it says it does and if you could put in whatever addresses you wanted. 1 stars (WARNING) - After being unable to successfully install this software on our computer (for some reason, the software thinks our computer has less than the required minimum 128 megabytes of RAM, when it has 2.5 GIGABYTES of RAM), we called Panda Software. Please note: THERE IS NO TOLL FREE NUMBER FOR THIS COMPANY IN THEIR PACKAGE INSERTS. The representative we spoke with informed us that the software WILL NOT WORK on systems with more than two gigabytes of RAM. 1 stars (Don't waste your money) - I had high hopes this CD would contain the content I wanted to really be able to create killer spreadsheets without the normal time involved in discovering a program's true potential. Wrong! From the first insertion of the CD (it wouldn't auto-start) to the loading of each successive lesson (the vocal playback of the animated character remained garbled for some time before it would clear up), I got more and more frustrated. It would even skip whole lesson sections that I did not discover until a successive lesson mentioned something I had not heard before. Searching back, I had to find the missing lesson and manually click it to start. I learned more just loading up the Excel software and "noodling" with it for about 20-30 minutes. 4 stars (Excellent!) - Although I have not tried the CD version, I have the downloaded version. You just download it and you can work it without using any cd roms or anything. Its such a GREAT program. You get to pick and create your ringtones from any song and at ANYPOINT! Instead of paying $2 for every ringtone and they dont even start it at the point you like it. (IE Cingular and T-Mobile) I found this item the best ringtone maker Ive ever used. But one thing that would make this product better is if we could use a USB cable to import the songs instead of thru text messages and then you wouldnt be using up those. But others wise get this product if you want to customize your own ringtones. 1 stars (Installation Nightmare - Try V-Com's Systemsuite Instead) - I'm still trying to install this software. There are about 7 technotes on the Symantec website dealing with installation problems for this software, as well as Personal Firewall. You better read them all before you even try, I say try, to install this stuff. Count on problems if you have a prior version that you are going to remove and upgrade. I've been working on installing this for about 4 hours, and one time I crashed the computer trying to implement one of Symantec's fixes -- spent 2 days trying to revive it, gave up and restored the hard drive with a backup image. Over the years, this software has become more bloated and problematic. Symantec has been complacent about product quality. Better bet is SystemSuite Pro 6 by V-com. I've been running version 5 for a year on another computer and it works very well, not a resource hog, only a few minor problems that V_com helped me fix. I installed Version 6 on my brother's computer with no problem at all. 1 stars (Big Headache!) - I've been using Norton's Systems Works and Firewall for years and have been very happy with them up till now. Already 2004's versions gave me problems and I could not install easily. I had constant automatic shut downs. Tech help was WORTHLESS! I finally had to reformat my computer and then everything worked fine. Now 2005's version is even worse. I could not install either Systems Works or the Firewall without my computer constantly shutting down during install. Finally, I had to do their fix of completely deleting all remenants of any Norton products. I did a reinstall of SW and my computer did not shut down, but not everything installed. I also managed to get the firewall installed as well. But since then, I've had constant problems again with my computer shutting down and then reboot problems when I try to run antivirus, or other Norton applications. I also keep getting error messages that some file is missing....

5 stars (No problems with the install or the registration/activation) - Today,I upgraded from Systemworks 2003 Professional Edition to the Systemworks 2005 Premier on a PC with Windows XP Home Edition. It took approximately 30 minutes to load and register and everything went smoothly. Before starting, I read every review written here at Amazon so I'm well aware that my experience is not typical. I am offering the following suggestions in hopes that it may help someone who still has not been able to get it loaded or is about to try loading it for the first time. 1. First, to install this product on a XP machine, Norton says your processor should be a minimum of 300mhz (they neglect to tell you this on the outside of the box when they list the Minimum Systen Requirements) 2. Your Internet Explorer should be updated to version 6 3. If you have an earlier version of Systemworks (from 2003 and up) on your PC, don't uninstall it - if your version is earlier than 2003, you Must uninstall it before loading the new one. 4. Close all other Window programs - including those running in the System Tray. 5. Put in the Norton CD and click on "Install Norton SystemWorks" when the first panel comes up. 6. You'll be asked to accept the License Agreement" and then to enter your Product Key (it's long - 24 characters - and it appears on the back of your CD sleeve). 7. You're advised next to do a virus scan - so just click the "Start Scan" 8. It then asks you to select an Installation Type - the most trouble free choice here is the default - "Install Now". 9. Next, the software picks a folder where it wants to install the program...but, it gives you the ability to click "Browse" and change to another folder location. Again, the most trouble free choice here is the default. 10.It will then suggest that you Restart windows....then you are Done with the install (you still must register and activate). 11. At this point, after the Windows restart, I did get a couple of error me...

Norton AntiVirus 2005 Home Protection Pack - 3 Users

4 stars (Norton Antivirus purchase) - I like the product. But Norton Antivirus, Symantec did not except my rebate offer and indicated my original receipt which was an Amazon receipt was not valid. I will not purchase from Symantec again. 5 stars (No problems) - I don't understand the amount of negative feedbacks out there, but it seems there are a lot of Symantec/Norton bashers, yet Symantec products (at least virus protection ones) continue to be the best sellers among retailers, computer manufacturers, and large companies. I have been using computers since 1996, by all means a novice, and started out initially with McAfee upon everyone's recommendations. It always seemed to require too much user input, and not knowing much comupter anti virus lingo, I kept having all sorts of problems (Freezing, pop-ups for McAfee sale pitches, errors, excessive prompts for specific actions, and YES viruses, with very poor customer service). When I bought my second computer (IBM) in early 2000, it came with Norton pre-installed, and what a difference! I never had to do anything to the software. It just worked in the background, and never had a problem. I have been a Norton/Symantec fan since. Every year, I purchase and upgrade to the new software, simply because it is free after rebates, instead of paying to renew my subscription. I tried one year the NIS, and it did slow my computer, so I went back to the NAV. We have 3 desktop and 3 laptop computers, running W98, ME and XP. Never had a problem with viruses, and all computers have Norton running just smoothly in the background. Never had any problems with installation, and the current 3 users pack was even easier, because it automatically uninstalled the prior versions (Norton Professional 2003 and 2004). It updates itself automatically, and simply works (you just don't even know it is working). Not one single computer had a virus in over 5 years. I still have my IBM Aptiva, W98, 550MHZ Athlon, and an older 450MHZ Celeron Toshiba...

1 stars (Backup component confusing, not as advertised) - This review pertains to the back up component of the suite (which seems to be the distinguishing feature for this bundle as opposed to others), Personal Backup X. Intego Personal Backup X is a poor choice for someone looking for simple, robust backups without additional hardware. Contrary to Intego's marketing, it cannot back up to multiple CDs/DVDs. It's also confusing, and doesn't include a manual. DIFFICULTY OF USE: On launch, PBX displays a window asking for a source and destination, and whether to "backup," "restore," "archive," or "clone." It doesn't explain the difference between these actions. There's no "Help" feature. It's a bad sign when even experienced users must read the manual cover to cover. Worse, the manual is not installed by default and must be downloaded from Intego's web site. Advanced features are accessed through a confusing "New Script..." menu item. Having a minimalist interface is NOT `ease of use.' NO SUPPORT FOR MULTIPLE CDs/DVDs: Intego claims, "Intego Personal Backup X backs up your data, either automatically or manually, to removable media (such as recordable CD-Roms or Zip cartridges), to partitions on your hard disk, to network volumes, to an iDisk, to external hard drives (USB, Firewire or SCSI) or to disk image files." But as an Intego representative later explained, "Personal Backup X does not have a method or procedure to backup across multiple disks. It can not 'span' CDs or DVDs." All recent computers have hard drives too large for one DVD or CD. Consumers expect any backup program claiming to support CD/DVD to support multiple discs. So it is NOT practical to back up to CD, DVD, Zip disk, etc. with Personal Backup. PBX may work for those with external hard drives or tape drives, but most of them probably use Dantz Retrospect. 1 stars (textbridge pro 11 is not worth it) - I purchased this program with the intention of entering a bunch of typewritten pages into my computer. The document that this program produced from newly typed material was so full of errors that I simply had to re-type. It would have taken longer to correct than to re-type. When I talked to Textbridge about these problems all they would tell me is that the program was not meant for such use and that I should buy one of their other programs which had good optical character recognition capabilities. In other words, they know the product is not any good and they are not willing to stand behind it. The program is useless for optical character recognition work or anything else. 1 stars (Horrible is a Compliment) - This product simply does not produce accurate results. It skips entire lines, words on the same line, and misreads even the most legible characters. It came bundled with my scanner, so at least I did not waste my money on it. 3 stars (Average Product) - I was not that impressed by this product. It found some spyware, but I found "Scan Spyware" [...] software to be much more comprehensive and offer better protection. I am in no way affiliated with that company, I just like their product. 5 stars (Pest Patrol Review) - This excellent product removes all manner of spyware and keeps the computer running at top efficiency. 5 stars (Blows away the competition) - I have installed this on multiple occasions, many times on PC's which were virtual "typhoid Marys" with many instances of spyware. Some PCs had "Spybot" or "Adaware" or some other such product which was having no positive effect in either identifying, let alone eliminating, the threats. After installing and running this, the program provides very specific instructions and explanation of what's going on. You can set up automatic updates for complete protection going forward.
