Star Wars- Battlefront

4 stars (i liked it) - star wars battle front is one of the best games that have been made on Ps2. It is not only fro star wars fans, it is also a great shoot em up game with heaps of different weapns and players to play as,worth paying the money for. 4 stars (The best Star Wars game I've played yet) - Star Wars Battlefront is a great game, despite a few minor flaws. Out of all the Star Wars titles I've played, it is by far the best. It offers all of the gameplay styles of the past Star Wars games, including battle on the aerial, vehicle, and soldier levels. You can fight as four sides on planets such as Bespin, Geonosis, Hoth, Endor, and Kashyyyk (One course, Rhen Var, was only in one short scene of Episode 3). The targeting and radar systems are good enough, but the missile lock-on systems are somewhat hard to use. You can fight as four sides, each with benefits and downsides. Rebels: While the Rebellion lacks some of the firepower of the Empire, they have the best starfighters in the entire game. Their special unit, the Wookie Smuggler, can drop time bombs and shoot several enemies at once. Empire: One of the best features of the Imperials is the ability to play as walkers- including the AT-AT, which can be used on Hoth and Rhen Var. Republic: This group focuses mostly on heavy weapons, with armored tanks, walkers, and gunships at their disposal. They are very similar to the Imperials, but have better starfighters. CIS (Trade Federation): Their vehicles are some of the worst in the game, but they make up for it with their droid soldiers. For the first time ever, you can play as the lethal Droideka, also known as the Destroyer Droid, from Episode 1. There are only two real downsides to this game. The first is that you can only battle within your side's Era. For example, the Rebellion can not fight the CIS in a battle. Also, every mode of gameplay is almost exactly the same- you must kill enemy soldiers and capture their Command Posts - so the game can get r...

Microsoft FrontPage 2003

4 stars (Positive response to FrontPage) - I found the program easy to use in creating a new web page and in uploading the pages to the web site. 4 stars (Good but has problems) - I found using this manageable but even though I tested the web site on different browsers in my computer and it seemed fine, it breaks up on various browsers in different computers. I used the template. 5 stars (Front Page 2003) - Not easy, but that's because I knew nothing about what I was doing. I did it though and that would never have happened without Front Page. The site should be up in a week. (...) Peggy Bowman ...

New Venture Creation- Entrepreneurship for the 21st Century with PowerWeb and New Business Mentor CD

2 stars (Earlier versions are better) - This book includes numerous tear-out exercises and cases. It might be appropriate for a classroom but it is not ideal for prospective entrepreneurs. Earlier versions of this book had good material on writing a business plan and determining appropriate sources of capital and less extraneous fillers. Save yourself a lot of money and buy a more practical book on the subject or the 1995 version if you want the business plan and financing materials. 5 stars (Book condition) - Very quick delivery. Book had some marks, but excellent condition. Would recommend strongly if you want the book right away. 4 stars (Comprehensive "Owners' Manual" for Entrepreneurs) - Like the previous reviewer, I too purchased the 4th Edition of this text (paperback), and was extremely pleased. Before starting my current business, I consulted extensively with this text, and was pleased with its comprehensive, practical nature - covering everything from a personality assessment of one's readiness for self-employment, to exhaustive preparation information for a business plan. The book also extensively covers financing an entrepreneurial venture, comparing both debt and equity (including Venture Capital) methodologies. On a practical note, I also like the fact that all the pages are perforated...there have been several that I have taken out and used hands-on! I cannot comment on the relative worth of this version vs. the newer version, as I only have the 4th edition. ...

The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader- Becoming the Person Others Will Want to Follow

4 stars (Good) - The book gives practical, digestible essence of leadership. This makes it much better to digest as one can read and not be overwhelmed with pages upon pages of info that will keep you from reading it. The points are specific, he uses stories to highlight the quality, as well as some practical ideas/recommendations for each quality. It also gives you a suggested way to read as one should not try to read it in one sitting, but read one quality and meditate/live it for a day to have it sink in. 5 stars (Don't Let Your Skills Keep You From Leading) - Don't Let Your Skills Keep You From Successful "Are you a thinker, a doer, or a clutch player? The better you are, the greater potential for influence you will have with your people" -John C. Maxwell In order to excel you need to develop your skills... in order to lead effectively you need to evaluate how you lead then practice how those you lead respond to your leadership. John C. Maxwell has provided an easy-to-read and easy-to-implement guide for leadership in this book. He lays out 21 essential skills needed to be effective as a leader. Simply stated, the following 5 points outline how to implement the 21 essentials to lead other to greatness. * Show Up Every Day * Keep Improving * Follow Through with Excellence * Accomplish More than Expected * Inspire Other If you want your employees to run through walls for you and your organization you will get, read, think about, implement and live these essential skills. Read one a day or one a week... but read it! It will make you more successful-guaranteed. Daniel Felsted, Principal of The Image Foundry Consultancy. 5 stars (Must in your collection) - If you are not sure what leadership means this is the book to start knowing about it. Managing is not leadership, start with this book to find out what it really is. ...

The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership

5 stars (Top book for Top leaders) - Most of the time, we just don't know how to get to the next level of happiness and effectiveness. As a result, we flounder, hoping that some random act of character will propel us to the next level, and having no clue what that next level might be. And we stay right where we are. One author said that, "Lunacy is doing the same things repeatedly, expecting different results." and in those days, we exemplify that statement. Then along comes an idea or a series of ideas that changes the landscape. John Maxwell's book on leadership is one of those books. Here we find the ideas we need to hone our character and make our organizations more effective. In effect, while learning to lead others, we actually learn how to lead ourselves. This is true leadership and true influence, and you would be remiss not to take these ideas in and change your path. 3 stars (The book starts well, but quickly degenerates) - I have been in various professional and volunteer leadership positions for more than twenty years, but I am always looking for new ideas on how to become a more effective leader, so the 'Irrefutable' title of this book, plus the recommendation of others, caused me to plunk down a few dollars for the book. I was fairly impressed by the first couple of chapters, and felt that the Chapter where John makes the assertion that "Leadership = Influence" was VERY insightful. In fact this chapter alone was worth the purchase price of the book. So why do I only rate it with 3 stars(and almost rated it 2 stars)? Because of John's overemphasis in later chapters on the personality of the leader and his dismissal of 'difficult people'. Part of the extreme challenge of leadership (especially in volunteer organizations) is dealing effectively with the 'difficult people' in the organization. John blithely suggests to either 'co-op' them, replace them, or get them to quit. It should be so easy - but in reality, it is not. You cannot get peo...

Literacy for the 21st Century - A Balanced Approach 4th Edition

5 stars (The best reading methods textbook I've found) - I teach a course in elementary reading methods for undergraduate education students. This is the third textbook I've tried, and it is excellent! It has what students need to know about the theory and practice of teaching reading, written in a very readable, non-overwhelming way. Plus it has lots of practical teaching ideas. Our lab school saw it and ordered several copies for its teachers also. I highly recommend it. 5 stars (A must have!!) - I was first introduced to this book in one of my graduate literacy courses and I have been hooked every since. The teachers at my school pass it around constantly looking for ideas. My favorite aspect of this book is the fact that there are real teachers giving real examples of what works in their classrooms. There are no strategies that seem too hard implement in your classroom, because the layout is right there!! You know it can be done and it words because the examples in the book are proof! You don't feel like you are reading about some ideal or Utopia of a classroom. You are reading about REAL classrooms. I absolutely love it! 5 stars (Excellent resource for teachers) - This is an excellent resource. It is concise and contains a wealth of information. I teach second grade and am working on a Master's degree in literacy. I am finding this book to be invaluable. Much of the information is sorted into charts for easy referencing. So many of the books I have read lately seem to ramble on and on. This book makes it's point and moves on to other salient information. I get rid of so many of the professional books I purchase after I read them. This one is a keeper. It is very pertinent to the current trend in improving the literacy of our children. ...

Newton-s Telecom Dictionary- 21st Edition- Covering Telecommunications- Networking- Information Tech

4 stars (use a search engine instead of this book?) - This is one of the standard reference texts in telecom. A massive explanation of virtually any term you are likely to encounter in the field. It is a dictionary, not an encyclopedia, so it does not go into any term in any depth. The book has a piquant attraction. Open a page at random and glance through it. Often there are hilarious words and explanations of these. Revealing a droll wit. But aside from that, these days you might prefer to use a search engine for look up quick meanings. 4 stars (Newtons Ok. Certainly the price was right.) - Just finished a Computer Information Systems class and very glad I had Newtons. All of my classmates struggled finding simple defintions such as "JAVA", although I was surprised not to find "People Soft" in it. Made the class a lot easier, and made me walk away from the class with my moneys worth. While www.wikipedia.org just as good (and free), it's not a book is it? Books will be there in 30 years. Where will the ebook in your RAM be in 30 years. 5 stars (If you can have only one telecom book...) - make it this one. Run across an unfamiliar acronym? Wikipedia can't help? Crack open the Newton's. "Comprehensive" doesn't do it justice. It's funny, too. ...

Interior Design Illustrated

5 stars (Great Resource) - I am currently getting my degree in ID, and I think that this resource is invaluable. The drawings are great and they really help with perspectives and rendering. 4 stars (Excellent but abit outdated) - The auther is fantastic, the book is well written otherwise he wouldn't have got the 4 stars, the book covers the subject from A to Z literally speaking, a must have, BUT it is too much outdated. 4 stars (This is a great book for teaching) - Interior Design Illustrated is a pictoral book with easily understood text. This book gives the reader a chance to learn the basics of Interior Design. I recommend this book for any Interior Design school to be used in their course. ...

Intimate Issues - 21 Questions Christian Women Ask About Sex

4 stars (Great book) - I was a little hesitant when I bought this book but did so because I the reviews. This book is great. It gets the the heart of so many marriage matters in a very meaningful and usable way. I am going to ask my husband to read it so we can talk about some of the subjects. 5 stars (I would recommend to ANY woman) - I am engaged, and just finished reading this book. It has been so incredibly helpful. I would recommend it to any woman (whether married or not) because I think it accurately displays the aspect of sex like the Bible intends for it to be. I have never had sex before, yet learned so much from this book because it discussed sex as it's meant to be- in such a healthy, beautiful way. It is also a great book for anyone who has been abused or has not lived in an environment in which sex was a healthy thing. 4 stars (My wife and I like this book) - Okay, I'm not woman; but my wife is, and we both read and liked this book. Here's our combined review: Pros: 1. Easy to read - Conversational style of writing and clear points. We each read it in one sitting. 2. Adults only - Sometimes a grown-up discussion is required. This is a book for married women (and men). It is explicit and direct (without being crude) about physical sexual information. It is definitely not appropriate for girls (or boys). 3. Scriptural approach - Instead of just giving motherly advice, the authors take the Bible seriously and frequently use it as a home base to direct their thoughts. Mind you, this is not a Bible study per se'. There is plenty of 21st century, frank counseling advice, but it is blended and based upon Biblical principles. Provides a scriptural index to locate where specific passages are mentioned - useful to Bible teachers. 4. Practical - Lots of ideas for rekindling relationship, romance, plain sex and other aspects of adult relationship. These are ideas you can start this week. 5. Both authors relate from personal experience - Both have p...

Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003 Upgrade

1 stars (Don't even think about upgrading) - You need to get out more. Just the fact that you are looking at this page and are thinking of upgrading your Microsoft Office makes it clear that you have a problem. Don't believe the Microsoft advertisement featuring dinosaurs to announce "Microsoft Office Has Evolved." It hasn't. This is a mature product. It doesn't matter if you use Office 1997, 2000 or 2003. They are all the same. The good, the bad and the ugly. It is all still here. Maybe a few bugs have been fixed. Most haven't, and ther are always new bugs. If Microsoft took the time to really improve the software, that would be one thing. But they don't. Here is an example. You are in Outlook. You call up a contact and want to send that person a letter. You need to print an envelope, but there is no command to do so. There is no button to click. You can't right click anywhere to print an envelope. I am not making this up. Outlook has been out for almost ten years and multiple upgrades, and Microsoft still hasn't gotten around to implementing functionality to print a single envelope. Your only option (the on-line support confirms this) is to perform a mail merge. This is an elaborate process that is designed for printing thousands of envelopes for a bulk mailing. It involves opening multiple windows and setting all sorts of settings. You have to go through the ENTIRE PROCESS just to print a single envelope! What is more, the mail merge feature has bugs in it. It leaves blank lines in addresses that look atrocious, and it drops country names from addresses. It gives you options as to how you want country names treaed in addresses, but these all do nothing. Whatever option you select, Outlook leaves countries out of addresses when it prints envelopes. I could go on, but I won't. If you are using Office 2000 or even Office 1997, you aren't missing out on anything. There is absolutely no reason to shell out $400 for new software that does all the same things in all t...

Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003

5 stars (Good fit) - I'm a longterm MS Office user. The Small Business Edition is a perfect fit for my applications. 2003 is a very stable platform. 1 stars (Don't even think about upgrading) - You need to get out more. Just the fact that you are looking at this page and are thinking of upgrading your Microsoft Office makes it clear that you have a problem. Microsoft PowerPoint 2003

5 stars (PowerPoint 2003) - I have used PowerPoint quite a bit for presentations at work but I finally purchased PowerPoint 2003 for my home and my wife's business. In an age where PowerPoint is the norm in presentations, the features I learned in the 2003 really bumped up the bar. I have received rave reviews for my presentations and I am not shy in sharing the credit with this software. As a side note, my 2nd grade son is learning PowerPoint in school and now he likes to dabble with the 2003 Edition. On some days, I'll ask him what he is doing. He will answer, "I'm playing PowerPoint!" 2 stars (Not Wallet Compatible) - Let me start by saying that I'm no computer expert (far from it) and that Power Point 2003 is a good program that is already reaping rewards for me. BUT I have to say that this version is too high for me and that one should buy this in a package deal (Microsoft Student Edition) if you don't need all the "extra" features that are basically useless for someone using this stuff at home. Through a series of events (or calamity, as my wallet put it) I ended up buying Microsoft Office Basics 2003 that came with (a) Word 2003 (b) Excel 2003 and (c) Outlook but that didn't have Powerpoint included. So, I thought that I'd be able to get an Upgrade addition to work on my computer because the box lists a series of Office editions that would be upgradeable. When I got it home, however, I found that it didn't work with Office 2003 and that I'd have to get the extended version. It would work if I had an older computer with older software, but newer stuff required a stand alone piece of software if it isn't included in the bundle. When I went back with this quandary, the price of this program cost more than my bundle pack of software and I found myself a bit unhappy because I could either (a) buy this overpriced thing by forking out almost two hundred bucks or (b) buy a student addition that basically meant repurchasing all the programs I had and forking out ...

Microsoft FrontPage 2003 Upgrade

5 stars (Great upgrade!) - I haven't upgraded since 2000. This version has made good improvements - especially in the html window. They have also made it very easy to navigate between open file windows. This version integrates better with the rest of the Office Suite. I wouldn't go back to my old version now! 5 stars (Good service) - Article arrived in respectable time and was in excellent condition and as advertised. 5 stars (I prefer this to Dreamweaver) - I've found this newest version of Front Page to be the best Microsoft has ever delivered. It's intuitive, easy to use, has clean HTML and an affordable price. I bought Dreamweaver MX after reading all the reviews about how wonderful it was. It has an easy way of creating rollovers but that's about it as far as I'm concerned. I think FP wins hands down and would certainly recommend it.. ...

Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003

4 stars ( Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003 ) - The price was the best I could find. Ordering was hassle free and delivery was fast. 5 stars (Comprehensively Useful) - There is no other product which compares to the Microsoft Office suite. "Microsoft Office Standard Edition" is the place to get started. And it is the place you'll probably stay. You do need Word and Excel, and occasionally, PowerPoint. Learn basic word processing and spreadsheet usage. Shine in meetings with PowerPoint. Do you need to upgrade from XP? Not likely. There are no new features I found impressive after having the XP version for years. It lacks Access, but most people don't need the database strength of it, and will survive nicely with just Excel. For e-mailing documents and files to coworkers, you can be confident they'll easily open Office files. There is a good chance they use it themselves. Outlook is one of those highly underrated, but enormously useful applications to help you organize your contacts, schedule and tasks easily. You can use it as an e-mail reader as well, though that feature has been vulnerable to viruses. Word is a huge program which can do far more than you'll need, but it will allow you versatility and simplicity that WordPerfect has yet to pull off. Excel is a basic spreadsheet with incredible math functionality. I don't need most of the math tools, other than minor budgets and such. I find it handy for tracking my poetry submissions; I can see which magazine I sent which piece to when, and how and when they replied. PowerPoint makes those cool slideshows with the text that can be animated on the screen. With the templates, you can look good without requiring a graphic design degree. I fully recommend "Microsoft Office Standard Edition." It is the business and home office standard. You need it, it is easy to learn, and the price is right. Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 Upgrade

5 stars (2003 Upgrade) - For me the upgrade was a great thing. There had always been things about Office XP that just didn't work right. After the software was loaded, indeed I had some configuration issues. It worked, but it wasn't slick. But Microsoft Help stepped in. The software support guy took control of my computer using net-meeting and looked at all the configuration issues. Turned out to be some conflicts with my virus protection (I've had these before, P.N.) and with some Microsoft add-ins. Point is, he made the conflicts go away. Microsoft "help" has been a sometime thing, in the past. Today, it rose to the top shelf. I am quite happy with Office 2003. 1 stars (Don't even think about upgrading) - You need to get out more. Just the fact that you are looking at this page and are thinking of upgrading your Microsoft Office makes it clear that you have a problem. Corel WordPerfect Office 12 Home Edition

3 stars (Takes a while, but you can use cheaper batteries) - I used to have a charger that worked on alkaline batteries (the regular kind rather than the "rechargable" kind) - and it was great. This one takes about 3 days to charge the batteries, and sometimes it can't charge all of them all the way. But since regular alkaline batteries are easier to find and cheaper also, it helps me out with that. 1 stars (Corel Review) - This product is terrible. This was an upgrade, it messed up some of my existing files and I contacted tech help on line. Everything they told me to do made the situation worse. I uninstalled the product. 1 stars (One Version, One Computer) - That (the subject line above) is what I received from Corel Customer Service (800-772-6735) after a 20 minute "hold" wait as an answer to my question: how many computers am I able to load Wordperfect on if I buy this software. Answer, bluntly, is ONE. MS Word, Student Teacher edition, allows THREE computers to load and register the software (price per installation cheaper with MS Word!). With the compatibility of Word 2003 for soooo many side products and apps (eg Dragon Naturally Speaking, many organizational/scheduling apps, etc), I frankly--although I champion the underdog in general--cannot see how Corel can survive as a company. Even their customer service is poor. Beware if you buy this software; expensive and likely you colleagues and friends with MS Word won;t even be able to open your documents. ...

5 stars (Microsoft Excel) - Wonderful program, allows a lot of options that are not available with other similarly advertised spreadsheets. Very user friendly. 4 stars (More Possibilities with your Numbers & Data) - Excel is a XML mammoth because of the integration with the language. The ability to migrate data between different storage sources and extraction of information to make it flexible in different scenarios. Tables can be transferred back and forth between applications such Word with ease. Excel can continually use the tables from documents as a data source for further expandability. It's the flexibility for data exchange that makes Excel 2003 very powerful. ...
